Problem. I need input from you all!
Brother in Las Vegas, age 82, fell and hit his head on a dining room chair. Had a goose egg but felt ok. A week later he has brain surgery to remove a clot. When he woke up he was cognizant and making sense and could say yes and no. They said speech would return as swelling dwindled. Surgery was Sunday, Sept. 27. The following day he could speak more. People from Rehab came in to ask a few questions, in order to test him, and he answered just fine. After Rehab people left, he was tired and went to sleep. He hasn't been able to speak since. Doctors can't find any reason why he can't speak. They have run tests such as, CAT scans, MRI's, blood tests, etc. Today he is on a Ventilator, being fed through a nose tube, and is heavily sedated. However, when his wife or doctor ask him to squeeze their hand once for yes and twice for no....he can do it every time.
With all of the tests not showing any reason for his state........do you suppose they might have made an error in surgery? Need some feedback please.
Appreciate the input from anybody please.
Linda
