
Edward “Ed” D. Stanfield, Sr., 77 of Springfield, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 at his home. He was born October 18, 1946 in Florence, AL, the son of Edward D. Campbell and Martha (Theroux) Stanfield. He married Malinda A. Cochran on September 7, 1968 and she preceded him on October 16, 2012.
Also preceding him death are his parents, step-father, Zeke Stanfield, and one brother, Breck Campbell.
Ed is survived by his three sons, Ed (Kelly) Stanfield, Jr. of Rochester, Bill (Lisa) Stanfield and Joe Stanfield both of Chatham; four grandchildren, Brennan Stanfield, Katlynn Clardy, Caleb Stanfield, and Olivia Clardy; companion, Barb Woods of Springfield; one brother, Allen Stanfield of Cheyenne, WY; three sisters, Amy (Mike) Evans of Winchester, KY, Ann Dona of Downs and Molly Ryan (Tom Flemming) of Reston, VA and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ed has been a resident of Central Illinois since 1963 and received his BA in History from Illinois College and completed graduate course work at SIU Carbondale. He owned and operated Glenn Brunk Stationers and previously before that had worked for CDS Office Technologies.
Ed was one of the founding members of the Farmersville/Waggoner Ambulance Service. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading a good book and having a nice cigar. He enjoyed being with his dog General after Malinda’s passing.
Ed will be missed dearly by many.
