Good news:

My brother is off of the Respirator, speaking, and breathing on his own.  Next: Rehab.  Don't know if he'll ever be able to walk again.  Nerves to his legs were damaged with calcification of a disc in his spine.

Thanks for input!

Linda

Ed:

Sorry to hear that you've got shingles!  Shingles can be so difficult to deal with or tolerate...at all!  They usually head for the eyes.  They can leave scars and other damage.

I have already told my doctor, for my check-up for my 70th birthday, I am giving myself the Shingles innoculation!  My mother had it in old age (with Alzheimers).  Boo Boo Baxter has experienced it too!  It certainly isn't any fun................absolutely not a walk in the park!

The pain and the itching can be horrendous!

Please take good care of yourself Ed!

Best wishes for a speedy recover!

Linda Elias

Looking back at recent forum posts, it would seem that Allida and Jim are now officially "temporary" CUBS fans.  The CUBS appear to have converted from Completely Useless By September to Can Usually Beat St Louis. I am not a big sports fan, but, it is definitely time for the CUBS curse to end and this is the year. I am a believer.

Ed - Hope you are recovering from the shingles OK. I had them in the eye about 10 years ago and it was no fun. Thank goodness there are shots for it.

What do Ed, Mel, & Terry Bradshaw have in common?  The shingles. 😫.

The VA took care of this one for me about 6 years ago.

Cindy Zoll notified me by e-mail last night that Gene Zoll passed away on August 31.  Cindy did not provide any other details.  I have asked her if an obituary is available and will get it posted if she provides one.

So sorry to hear about Gene.  Prayers to his family.

October is breast cancer awareness month, so please get your  mammograms done .  Don't put it off.  I just learned I have breast cancer and I don't want anyone else to be diagnosed with it

All I'm asking for is your prayers and to be pro active.

Suz

Suzi:

I am starting the prayer circle for you now!!!!!

The underwires are a real killer!  Have changed the style of 'over the shoulder boulder holders' I now purchase.  Do you have family in Bloomington that will help you if you need it?

If not........just let me know!

Love ya, Linda

Suzi,

Remember that old Raiders cheer, "GO...FIGHT...WIN!"

My thoughts are with you and you will WIN this battle because the whole Class of 64 is cheering for you. I know this isn't exactly the Big 12, but you got the spirit. If I had the power to do it, I'd letter you at the next awards ceremony.

Suzy I want to wish you well in this journey of yours. My husbands daughter was 32 has Braca Gene as all 3 of his girls have and she had breast cancer which she found herself through monthly self exam and is a 5 year survivor. There is power in prayer , there is hope , and many praying for you.  Check out Caring Bridge website as it's a wonderful site where you can let others know how you are with only one entry.  Keep positive. Love to you and your family

Linda I am sorry to read about your brother.  Is it Duane?  I need to keep up on this site as I missed knowing all this was happening.  I hope he is doing better.  Much love to all your family.

Shaffer:

Yes.....it is Duane.  He starts rehab today.  Right now he cannot speak a sentence.  He can blurt out a word at a time.  Also, we don't know that he will ever walk again.

Thanks for asking Di.

Love ya, Linda

Karen Sue (Suzi) Denton (Merritt)

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and prayers.  We have such a close class.  Diane I'm sorry to hear about your stepdaughters breast cancer, but so glad she is a survivor.  My daughter needs to have that test.  My mother, aunt, sister and now me.

I'm very lucky to have great support.  My husband is my rock, as well as my daughter and her family and my son and his family.  Also my stepchildren and their families.  I also have my family in California.  Least not forget the wonderful friends I have.  So yes God has been good to me.  But I still need your prayers.
