Thanks, Jim, we had a great time. I was kind of surprised that so few of the other dealers were not from BHS. I thought I would meet more alumni but I didn't.

On image size -- I would have to go back and rediscover how I did that. Maybe we can get together by phone some night and work it together until we find the path. In short though, there's a format button when you click on --- well, something. From there you go into a window and adjust the size accordingly. And hope for the best.

Jack:

My sister says it has been rather warm up there while we are having 38 to 43 mornings here.  Is it really that warm up there?

Linda

Hi Linda --

It's not bad for mid-November. Temperature got down to about 47 overnight and is about 50 now. It was colder that that yesterday morning but overall this is warmer than we have come to expect for this time of year. Stay well.

With Christmas around the corner, Liz sent me this and we thought it was really cute.  She is unable to post things, so I offered to post this for her. Let us be the first ones to wish you all a Merry Christmas.  We are looking forward to seeing everybody at the Christmas Mini-Reunion at Alexander's. That is just around the corner, too.

How CRAZY are the wealthy?  This piece of art sold at auction for 6.2 Million!  Imagine what it will smell like in a few months !  A banana duct taped to a wall!

11/21/24 12:06 PM #11258

James (Jim) Rookus

I decided I would enter the competition!
My still life provides more interest with a more colorful banana to provide more contrast against the pale yellow wall. Not the cut edges of the WHITE duct tape are cut to follow the shape of the banana!  The additional apple and tomatoe offer more balance to the composition and the burst of sunlight ☀️ to the right provides needed V-C !  I am offering this to the highest bidder from Raiders 64 before putting it out to the public auction !
MEL ... have I found a new calling ????

For those of you who new my wife and followed her battle with Parkinsen, she passed on Monday surrounded by family.

Jim, inspitational as your creation is, you are a little late to the game. That's already been done, therefore making you a 'copycat' artist. It would be much more impressive if you had duplicated the Sistine Chapel ceiling. But I've got to hand it you, your attention to detail is exquisite.

Seriously, Maurizio Cattelan, the artist, is known to be both humorous and satirical. The banana piece, titled "Comedian", follows a century-old tradition of Dadaism that explores the conceptual boundaries of art rather than the traditional aesthetics of beauty, narrative and visionary expression. To understand better, take a look at Marcel Duchamp. The duct-taped banana has done exactly what it intended: set the artworld ablaze with questions about what art itself is.

Although I am of the old camp that still relishes such things as paintings, I am intriqued by the impact NFTs (non-fungilbe tokens), the digital world, and now AI (artificial intelligence) are having on how art will be collected in the future. For  $6.2 million, I might be willing to change my mind.

I hope this helps you find a buyer.

Ray I'm so sorry about your wife.  Prayers for your family. RIP Jen.

My husband was diagnosed with this horrible disease about a year ago.  I feel so sad, because we know he will not get better and only worse.  I hope we can have some good years left together.

We met at a singles dance when we were 49 and married one year later.

Thank you all for your condolences, it means a lot to me.  Even though I had fifteen years, from the time she was diagnosed, to prepare, it still seems hard to accept. Suzi, I will hold you and your husband up in my prayers for I know what you will have to face.  Bless you all.

Ray, I extend my deepest condolences. My first wife died of a similar disease earlier this year and the whole family is still dealing with it.

People say the healing process begins right away and you become a little stronger every day, although you may not notice. Silver linings are hard to find when you lose a loved one, but I'm sure you are keeping in mind that her pain and suffering are over; and that one day you'll see her again.

God bless.

Mel and Jim  - In applying my creative juices and not wanting to take second place to Jim in the art competion I took this photo of my creation. It is a snow flake taped to the wall with duct tape titled "Flakeart". The rights to it and its name are for sale to the highest bidder. Also Jim - I bid $1.32 on your creation but only if it includes shipping and arrives in edible condition.

Also available is my latest entry titled "Pleinair" which includes an unlimited supply of air for future displays. There are no bid minimums and shipping is free.
