BOO .... Amen! Appreciate your posting!

MARV ..... I cannot see the snowflake .... it must have melted!  Sorry but I cannot accept your offer .... the banana is on life support and rotting by the       minute and would not be able to make the long journey smothering in the bubble wrapped packaging!  The tomatoe as tender as it's skin is, now is suffering from bruising from the tightness of the masking tape and the poor apple is suffering from depression watching its two partners suffering and must stay by their side.  I had to cut their section of drywall out of the wall, much to Carol's dismay, and lay it on the floor to lessen the stress of the upright position and cover with a blanket.

I seriously do not think the art world is quite ready for us!

As we approach Thanksgiving, I am experiencing a hiccup in life.  I will need a colonoscopy and endoscopy  on this Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

For those preparing Thanksgiving dinner:  What is your menu?

For those not preparing Thanksgiving Dinner:  What do you want to have for Thanksgiving dinner?

I, personally, dream of Turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, dressing, sweet potato casserole with a praline topping, tossed salad, cranberry/orange sauce, cranberry fluff, parker house dinner roles and broccoli cheese casserole.

Dessert: cakes: carrot, applesauce, Blitz Torte, and Date Nut pudding.

Pies: apple, cherry, mince meat, pumpkin, and pecan.

That about covers it for me.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Linda

Thought for the day--"All great things are simple and many can be expressed in single words:  Freedom, Justice,Honor, Duty, Hope."

As for Thanksgiving Dinner-- I don't know all the rest of the menu, but I will be making White and Whole Grain Dinner rolls.

Ray-- I cook other things, but that's all that was requested.  I wouldn't know what to do without my trusty Dutch Oven.

Rookus:

I cook in abundance so that people can eat as much or as little as they wish.  If they over eat....they, and only they are in control of their choice.

I really like leftovers!  Turkey:  I can make turkey enchiladas, turkey noodle soup, turkey tetrazini, and of course, turkey sandwiches.

I have 8 dear friends with Alzheimers.  They always enjoy leftovers.  I make enough of everything, including desserts, that it will hold everyone for a few days.

Happy Thanksgiving you all!

Linda

For starters, I want to extend my sympathies to Ray and his family. Time helps us heal from even the most difficult of losses. Love, which keeps our memories alive, will never vanish and keeps us strong.

In reference to Thanksgiving, food is and always has been the main event for this celebration that brings us all together. I like to think everyone is able to feast on the bounty of the cornucopia of their harvest. As the elder in my family, I have now been relegated the responsibility of bringing deviled eggs. Nothing more. I'm lucky that my daughter, ex-wife and in-laws are foodies, who like Linda, make sure that no one goes home empty handed.

The best part of Thanksgiving is being with and remembering those we love. And that includes the Raiders of 1964.

Ray---As an old Scouter, I have taught many lessons over time.  I was on the Traing team for many years.  I taught the cooking session for IOLS (introductiion to Outdoor Leader Skills) for about 20years, and served on staff for about 10 Wood Badge classes.  The Most popular foods were Bacon-wrapped Cheese stuffed franks grilled onopen fire for IOLS and Bacon wrapped Chicken Breast for Wood Badge.  Everybody enjoyed fresh bread from the Dutch Oven.  My opinion is that the bread is probably the most difficult/challenging item to make on an open fire.  You can learn a lot overe time.

David, I've found about the only thing you can't make in a Dutch Oven is Ice Cream.

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Jim, so glad you got your Holiday decorations done. I'd love to see what others have done. As for me, I'm not sure that I'm up to my past exuberance, but this might be as good as it gets. LOL

Ray-- I know that ice cream would not be a traditional method for making ice cream.  However, I saw a recipe for Camp Ice Cream.  Basically, as I recall, you put the ice cream ingredients in a resealable container, and put an additional seal of water resistant duct tape around the lid.  You put that container into a sealable bucket filled with ice and rock salt.  Roll the bucket back and forth (keeping other particiipants busy). for a specified time.  Open the containers andd enjoy.  A Dutch Oven is round and might roll (Not recommended, but might work in an emergency).

David,  I have seen this, or one very similar at some training event,  but never tried it.  I have used the hand crank ice cream maker and it keeps scouts busy for hours .

Sandra Jeakins (Singletary Sizemore)

I hope everybody has a very nice Thanksgiving.

After we eat, people get in a line from upstairs down the steps, like an assembly line, to bring boxes down from upstairs.  Then Friday I put the Fall things away and start decorating.  By next week at this time, it should be done and the tree up.

Linda, I hope your tests come out ok.

Spent 7 hours yesterday in the ER.  Finally found the answer and all is good, except one thing:  They show I have blood type A POS.   Odd, ........but I have had type O Pos all of my life.  So next blood tests, I'm requesting a verification of my blood type.

Love ya, Linda
