I have it on good authority that Jim, the leader of the Pierce Gang (refer to post #4573), will be attending the reunion events. He and his "gang" have long ago gone straight and Jim has infact put in a great many hours of community service dedicated to the BHS Class of '64. He has been completely rehabilitated since 1964.  The biggest threat he poses is a hello hug ... so be on your guard.  Thanks for the post Dave, but I wanted to let people know they have nothing to fear form this reformed fugitive.

Thanks, Marv,

it's good to know that the extra investment in paint spray can detectors won't be necessary

Hi All,

Just so I know what to tell Dorothy about packing for our trip, does BCC still require a coat and tie?  I know Cheeks is casual.  Thanks for the heads up on the current dress code at the country club.

Dave-

No - BCC does not require a coat and tie.  Below is a direct quote from Rich Crusius regarding the current BCC dress code.  Sorry but speedos and bikinis are prohibited, especially for the over 60 crowd - thank goodness.

"The dress code is a  lot more lenient than it used to be.  Basically its common sense... kinda like business casual.  Men must wear shirts with collars (no T-shirts or tank tops) and can now wear blue jeans as long as they are not ripped, torn or ratty looking.  Ladies.... pretty much the same.  Shorts are also permissible as long as they are long enough to hit mid-thigh.  Don't need to wear sport coats, ties etc.  I will probably wear a golf shirt and khakis."

Although we moved to California two years before graduation, I fondly remember so many classmates from our time at BHS as well as Franklin School, Bent and Bloomington Junior High.  Many of you may remember my grandmother, Maude "Ma" Pease, who was the sole police matron for many years.  She used to mortify brother John and I by showing up at dances at Miller Park Pavillion in her navy blue suit and sensible shoes, looking for hooligans to reprimand.  It certainly put a damper on our social life, such as it was.

I hope all of you have a great reunion weekend - I'm looking forward to seeing all the photos.

Take care,

Joan (Pease) Connor Clark

Last year I attended my first reunion with the Class of 1963. I missed so many for some silly reasons. I have never had a better time than I did with old friends and so many new ones. Don't pass this chance up. The cliques are gone, there are no ball teams. There is just a bunch of people who attended BHS many years ago and we shared growing up. Come out this weekend and have a ball. You will not be sorry unless you miss it.

Thanks Milan, I agree.  It was great seeing everyone last night and it should be fun tonight.

It was so much fun seeing everyone and dancing to the greatest music ever.  It brought back so many good memories with people I will always love. Bless all of you for a evening to remember.

I feel I speak for the majority - a great time was had by all.  The planning of the event and the venue was superb.  Great choice of music for the DJ at BCC, although several of us didn't know "the Stroll" - it was wonderful watching those that did = apparently, it was taught in girls PE and not in boys PE. The tour of the school really showcased of the improvements.  Speaking as a taxpayer in Johnson County, KS (look it up), the renovations to BHS put Johnson County to shame.  Dorothy works in school administration and took a lot of pictures to show what could be done with tax dollars spent appropraitely.  BHS always was and continues to be a great school.

Mel, I think you said it best = "our teachers impressed upon us the need for higher education and prepared us to achieve that goal."  While some of you achieved it much better than I, it is a very astute observation.

To my classmates, I'm sorry that this was the first reunion that I was able to attend.  It was wonderful catching up and finding both the similarities and differences in the direction our lives took after graduation.  To those of you still working, Thank You!, as my monthly social security "benefit" is greatly appreciated.  To those of you that traveled long distances to be there, Thank You.  I can't express how good it was to see you and learn of your life's journies. I look forward to keeping up with your lives either through our shared website, Facebook, (I'm there) or via email  (david.c.long0446@gmail.com) {general email} or (theoldhacker14300@gmail.com) {private email}.

All the best to all of you,

Dave

When I got home last night, I was too tired to even apologize to Judy McLean Wilder for blocking out a significant percentage of her always pretty face in  the official class picture, perhaps ruining her reunion experience.  It's not like I didn't hear, "Jack, move your head", several times.

There's an upside, Judy.  Pat Hocenic Lehr, the one who pulled me into this environment of little people,

made a foolish bet in backing the Packers over the Bears.

Once this plays out,  I will share the financial rewards with you.  Just hold tight.

On another note, Cheri Wombacher Welch was not feeling 100%, and sends her regrets for not being able to attend the activities.

And by the way, I scanned "the official class picture" in high resolution so the characters show up pretty good and are more recognizeable in larger form, especially on a large monitor.

If anyone is interested, just send me a private message with your email and I'll get it out.

What a great weekend. Sue, Dianne and so many others, I'm so sorry I didn't get to see you. It was a fabulous few days. And to those I did get to see, even for a few seconds -- it was impossible to talk to everyone -- there is nothing greater than knowing what all of you have done since BHS 64. For those who were not there and those who were, I PROMISE, there are lots of photos on the way. Five years ago I had the pleasure of sitting between Lamont Woodworth and Vicky Keller and this year between Carol Trenary and Mike Meece. Life doesn't get any better. Thank you to the whole planning committee for making this one of the most beautiful experiences ever.
