well folks,

Thaings aint good!

Malinda has a vein compromised by the tumor. It is causing incredible swelling in her feet.. to the point that she can no longer drive... feet are to heavy to react...

Her bowel is prolapsing again and surgery is probably in her future...if she is strong enough   she is the weakest I have everseen her...we went to a wake tonite in Jacksonville.... mother of a very close childhood friend... she needed assistance from me or a friend (thee were 5 of us) to walk.... palsy in her hands, and her jaundice is causing confusion..... I am pretty low right now...she is sleeping and that is good therapy for her

So cool.  This morning standing near the top of Willow Pass watching the Space Shuttle piggybacking on a modified 747 fly into the Bay Area enroute to a museum in LA.  Poor choice of  a final destination but a spectacular flyby as they were at about 1500 feet and we were on a 500' foothill.

Prayers will continue.

Linda,

Thank you for your kinsd offer, however as the Theobalds can attest, you really don't want to try to hold a telephone conversation with me..

Waay to deaf for that..

However, I will post here... One of the greatest joys of my life has been to reconnect with all of you

Since I had only one year with y'all, I never dreamed I would be regarded as anything but "oh yea, that guy"

Pantagraph From Pages Past:

25 years ago (1962), Gene Bess scored three touchdowns and passed for two others as Bloomington High School crushed University High 47-7 at Fred Carlton field to win their 16th consecutive game without defeat.

Now don't tell Ron that someone else stole his thunder. I guess that "spell check" doesn't do everything for a newspaper. :)

Ed,

You were definitely "that guy"  -- that is,  that CUTE new guy!  I remember well when you came to BHS.  In fact, I'll bet most of the girls in our class remember that (cute) new guy!

You and Malinda have been in my thoughts and prayers.  I'll keep you there!  Take care, Sue

My thought here is  that you contact people.  Don't ever stop.  It is better for you...no matter what!

Praying for you and your family.

Biggs Army Airfield.

Linda, I was stationed at Ft Bliss in 1966. I wonder if it has changed ? As a young G.I. I wandered over to Ciudad Juarez, a time or two. I hear that place isn't safe for gringoes these days.

The desert get really cold at night.

Julie:

So sorry to hear about your mom.   Hope all is well with you!

Love ya, Linda

Mike Franks:

You're welcome to come down to see Biggs!   Big changes!  It's also where the president lands.

I have plenty of space for you.   All you need to do is request a private tour and they will take care of you!  They welcome anyone returning for tours!

Linda

Mike:

You can also tour Ft. BLiss.   Our desert is from 30-40 degrees cooler at night than the day.  In the summer I live for cool mornings and hibernate the rest of the day!

You're very welcome to come on down.

I liked El Paso.

We always knew the weather. SUNSHINE! They used to brag on the radio, that they had experienced over 800 consecutive days of clear weather.

For kicks, I looked at the place on Google Earth. It has really changed. I'm glad that you are happy in Texas. It was an experience for me, back in the day.

Mike Franks:

Wait a minute.........who said I was happy here?  We definitely have pros and cons.

Juarez has become the most dangerous city in the WORLD!

While I was raising my young children, we couldn't walk around our neighborhood at nightfall.   People crossed the Rio and traveled in groups to break into our homes.   For 50 years I have lived behind bars on doors, windows, and skylights.   I get trained annually for handling a gun as well as being versed on the current laws of intruders to homes.   I sleep with a loaded gun.   My children want me out of here as they have chosen to live away from the border.  But this is where I am best know for my business.   At this age, I can't imagine starting over somewhere else.

I am missing out on seeing my grandchildren as often I could, just because of business. Now, both of them want me to live near them.   I won't make that call and hurt the feelings of either one!

Hmmmm  Happy?  Well.....I get by.   I have  a lot of wonderful friends here.  I love the cooler mornings, Fall, Winter, and Spring.   I have learned to read, write, and speak Spanish and learn their cultural background.   I mediate in both languages.  I enjoy my area (my little corner of the world) but I do travel all over the world.  I make 3 trips per year to each child's home.

Shopping for clothes is tough.  Our market is geared to sale items.  I shop out of town for my best results!  I refuse to shop on-line!

It sounds like I am overly busy, I know.  But this is just me.   I like to stay busy and productive.   I have no idea in HELL how I would ever retire at this point!

Received your message about not opening email sent at 5:42.  I had 2 of them.   Then your message and one from theobaldart.   Tell me if these 2 later ones are ok to open, please.

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Linda,

My e-mails are OK to open. No problems here...guess Marv should get a Mac.

You make El Paso sound awful. I was there many years ago, make that decades ago, and loved going to Ciudad Juarez. Guess it isn't the same today. I also spent an amazing day at White Sands National Monument, one of the most magical places I've ever seen. I assume you have been there. I'd love to go back and do some photos.

A new exhibit of my work opens later tonight...see announcement below....and then off to Bloomington as a volunteen at the Walk to End Alzheimers on Sat. morning. Hope you guys in Bloomington will be there to support the cause. If you are, I will be running the T-shirt tent.

Linda,

I'm sorry that things have gone to hell down there. As I said, I was there in 1966, as a 19 year old soldier. I'm well aware of the danger you must endure, daily.. BTW, Bloomington, isn't what it used to be either. I think I'll take the Ft Bliss visit off of my "Bucket List ".

I think I'm starting to sound like my parents. Age does that to a person.
