We got some really, really teriffic news today. Malinda's liver is shrinking as are the spots on her lung. This means the chemo is working again and treatments will continue... She had 6 treatments this time, then a c/t scan last week. We got the results today and then she had treatment #7. When the c/t scan shows the liver is not responding to chemo, then the treatments stop. She has 5 more to go of this series and then a break until the tumor in the liver starts to grow again.

She is haveing ZERO side effects this time around, unlike last year when she really had a hard time with the drugs.... She wound up in the hospital for a week with critically low potassium levels.

Cancer is nasty stuff, colon cancer is particualrly nasty, but if ya have regular colonoscopies, many tumors can be caught. Not every polop is cancerous, but every colon cancer starts as a polop... Here Endeth the Sermon!

Thank you for your kind words about Mom. I have just returned to Chicago and am regrouping.

Ed, my mother and I had a wonderful visit with you last year. I will continue my visits whenever I can. Your news about Malinda is just fantastic!!! Please give her my love.

We have a call committee made up of Steve Jetton, Cheryl Turner Hitzner, Sandy Hammond McHugh, Mike Eddings, and Annie Bailen. We will be meeting soon and begin beating the bushes. Hopefully we will see some new faces in here. I want to thank the volunteers for coming to our aid. We had three in our class making these calls and it wasn't enough. Of course, Marvin has already done a lot of this so we are taking care of the rest.

 I, too, would like to extend my condolences to Mel and Marvin.  I lost my dad 26 years ago and my mom almost 12 years ago and somehow it is difficult realizing they are no longer there and that you are now the older generation.  You are both in my thoughts and prayers.
