David Long
Hi All Y'all,
Thanks for the Birthday wishes. Been laying a little low lately after a great trip to Chicago to see the GKs and our daughters - you pick the order...
My old new leg is gone and I have another 'new leg'. The old one became a Fart Blaster when it came loose and fell off, which was quite often. Our eldest grandson loved it, but it was somewhat embarrassing when it happened at Mass or in a restaurant. I kept turning to look behind me to see who was causing all the 'stink'!
Had a loaner, small wheel, wheelchair when in Chicago which I managed to flip over backwards twice in the same day. 1st time was when Oscar climbed into my lap and stood up to give me a heg - we both went over backwards but I at least had the presence of mind to lift him up as we were falling and kept him from hitting the floor. He was scared but unscathed - I didn't have quite the same result. Slammed back and head onto the hardwood floor, but fortunately did not leave any dents in the floor. About 3 hours later, moving from one room to another, caught the back wheels on a throw rug and went over again with pretty much the same result, sans kid. That was Saturday - we celebrated the BD early and on Sunday drove back to KC - between the flips and spending 9hrs in the car - my back is pretty shot right now.
That's my tale of woe!
BIG REQUEST!
Does anyone have any contacts in Chicago, preferably in the non-profit sector, that might be looking for a bright, very qualified person? Our favorite oldest daughter will be graduating with her MSW next month. She also has degrees in Communication; Special ED; a Masters in School Administration; and now her MSW. She'd really like to work in the area of helping disadvantaged kids move on into college, et al. (I don't know how I ended up with 3 liberals as wife and daughters - I must have been traveling too much during their youth .
2nd BIG REQUEST!
My friend and former golf partner in several leagues is fighting for his life in Cardiac ICU. Without going into details - major heart, infection, and lung involvement. Please add him to your list of prayers. THANK YOU!
