Don't forget October is (what use to be Breast Cancer awareness) cancer awareness month.   Do your exams, get your checkups and be there for family and friends who are dealing with cancer.

Re: Music - - -

My taste runs the gamut from Classic Country to New Country:  Willie's Roadhouse; Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith (especially his song "Call a Marine").  I'm a big fan of The Eagles, Adele, and Allison Kraus, Pink, Jason Marz, Jimmy Buffet, and ZZ Top.  I have every CD that The Eagles, Adele, and Alison Krauss has cut.  My ringtone is the guitar riff from Hotel California, one of my alarms is set to play Cheap Sunglasses and another to play Cheeseburger in Paradise.  If I want background music when reading, it's always Yo Yo Ma.  That about covers everything, except we gave up our season tickets to the KC Lyric Opera because I couldn't get through the 2nd act w/o falling asleep and my snoring seemed to upset the other people seated next to me...

Hope everyone is doing well - will try to catch up again soon.

I saw Jim Bowers at Heritage Manor on Walnut and Clinton Sts yesterday. The coach isn't looking good. I had chemo next to him a couple of times early this year and could easily recognize him. Yesterday when I saw him, I wasn't sure I was talking to the same man.  If you were close to him and live near  Bloomington/Normal, you may want to see him very soon. God bless the Bowers family.

I have had people write to me to get info on Coach Bowers, this is all I have:

If anyone want to send a note or a card to Coach Bowers, this is all I have for info:

address is Heritage Manor 700 E. Walnut St, Bloomington, IL 61701
Home is 1106 Elmwood Rd, Bloomington, IL 61701

I doubt that Jim Bowers will ever be home again but his wife Jo Ann is still there.

I thought of another question that could be posed to generate some additional interest in forum responses:

Name your favorite 5 movies and the one line, when you hear it, immediately identifies the film:

Here are mine:

  1. .....but, on your death bed, you'll attain total  conciousness.  So I got that goin for me, which is nice.
  2. They are? Well as of this moment they're on Double Secret Probation
  3. My name is Muerte, my name is death!
  4. I hit that shot because it was a defining moment...and when a defining moment comes along, you define the moment, or the moment defines you.
  5. Oh, you can milk just about anything with nipples.

Milan, thank you for letting us know about Coach Bowers.  My son wrestled for him for four years.  I didn't always agree with him about the weight think but being a single parent I did like that he gave those boys the drive and push.  Special prayers for him.  🙏🏻🙏🏻

WHO'S THERE?........IS EVERYONE ASLEEP?     NO response to music or movies?  I know I'm only online occasionally, but other than Birthday Wishes - the group appears to have disappear......What's UP, Gang?

Did you hear about the elderly couple......they'd been married for about 50 years.....the wife kept asking the husband.....if I die, will you remarry?  He kept ignoring the question, until she'd bugged him for weeks.....then he said "Yes, I'd remarry".  Then she asked, "would you live in this house?"  To which he replied, "well, yes, the house is paid for and I like the house, so I'd still live here."  Then she asked, "would you sleep in our bed?"  He replied, "yes, it's a very comfortable bed, I like it, and I'd keep it."  Then said, "would you let her use my golf clubs?"  He replied, "Good Heavens No,..........She's Left Handed!"

Hope all is well with everyoe - I'm about to watch episode 4 of Ken Burns - Viet Nam Series.

Peace and Love.....

Dave, you might be on to something. Nobody responded to the music or movie invite, but they might like a good joke now and then. Let's see what happens...

An elderly couple went to the doctor's office for their annual check ups. The man is in the examining room when the doctor checks his prostate. At that moment the concerned doc suddenly asked, "Do you and your wife still have sex?"

The man said, "Gee doc, I'm not sure. Let me ask my her." He goes to the waiting room and yells out, "Hey Mable, do we still have intercourse?"

In frustration she yells back, "NO, NO, NO....we have Blue Cross/Blue Shield."

Never, in my wildest dreams, could I have imagined that the high-light of my day would be sitting in the coffee shop at 5;30 every morning talking about Social Security benefits and Medicare supplements! This getting old crap really sucks. Where did those nights go when I could steam up the windows of my girl friend's Camaro, from the backseat? Things that I used to do all night, now take all night to do. (when lucky) Now I drive too slow, I dress like it was the 60's, and have to remember 15 different passwords. I'm the oldest fart in my neighborhood and I watch "The Weather Channel". This getting old crap really sucks.

Haven't posted in a while. It's 40 degrees and windy. There's too much traffic to joy ride. Must be nap time.

Mike:

In December 1966 I bought a 1967 Camara, 6 cylinder, (the first year it was made).  It was a red convertible with a white top, stick shift, bucket seats, and with that white stripe across the front by the headlights.

Sorry, but it didn't come with steamed up windows!  I paid $3,200 for it. I owned that car until 1985.  I gave it to my ex-husband's nephew who wanted to practice working on cars for when he could own one and could do his own repairs.

Back then, 1970, with my first child, there weren't regular seats for kids.  They had this little seat that could hook over the back seat, but no seat belt.  And........she could ride in the front seat!

Gas was cheap and I could fill the tank for about $5.

Ahhhhhhhh, those were the days!

My van had a 30 gallon tank and was over $50 per tank!

I remember in high school that a pack of cigarettes and a gallon of gas were about the same price.

Take care.

Linda

Thanks Linda. I'm sure that your Camaro was a beautiful car! No doubt, you enjoyed every mile. We were all so innocent in those old days. I think that if I could have had one wish, it would have been to NEVER grow up.

I did. (kind'a)  2 children and 3 grand daughters, so it really has worked out very well, but................dreams are fun too.

Of course, I wish you the best in all your endeavors. May you enjoy good health, always have your heart full of love, that every prayer is answered, and that all of your dreams come true!

Mike do you live in Bloomington?  If you do why haven't you showed up for the mini reunions?  I can't think of one person in our class that hasn't aged.  It's so nice to visit with everyone one.  Think about it and come to the Christmas dinner.

Suzi

10/26/17 07:04 AM #6364

Michael (Mike) Franks

Yes Suzi, I still live in Bloomington. Several people have encouraged me to attend the reunions and I don't have any excuse as to why I haven't gotten there yet. I usually have good intentions, but I just haven't made it. I rarely meet old classmates while out and about, but it is fun to do so. I'm not intimidated by age or appearance. We are who we are and should be thankful that we have survived into our 70's.

Thank you for all that you do for our class and for keeping us up to date with birthdays and other news.

Linda, you recently talked about your grandkids and their Halloween costumes. I only have one granddaughter. She is two and half years old and a natural commedian. So, seeing her as Kermit seems almost normal. Her various roles as an impersonator include Charlie Brown and Harry Carey. Would love to see everyone post photos of their little Trick-or-Treaters. This is Dalia with Grandpa Mel.

Thanks Suzi. Other than getting older, birthday was great. I enjoyed my grand daughters and they filled me with more love than deserve.

Mel, your grand daughter is precious. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I know how much you love your family.

Your granddaughter is precious.  Enjoy her!

Sorry, but my family isn't allowed to post photos.  They are all private.    We had been contacted by people who are just trying to scam the  family.  Now, this measure is necessary.

Love to all, Linda

I saw our old friend Larry Elliott yesterday. A few of our classmates became electricians years ago and Larry was a part of that group along with myself. If you remember, Larry was quite a chacter in those H S days. He was an old gearhead and could drive the wheels off a hot rod. He is a good electrician and one the hardest workers I ever met.

It was great to see him. I think he will be heading to Florida soon to get away from our famous winter weather. We have a great class! I’m proud to be a part of it.
