Linda, I thought that the "Peg Leg" thing was pretty cool! Had a great laugh.

David: Wish you the best! Hope that you enjoy a complete recovery. We're in our 70's. The parts are a little worn out. Forget that "mile". Bet Max can't sprint like he used too either. What ever pocessed you to join the USMC? I witnessed their act, while in RVN. You guys had nothing! No boots, socks, food, carried old M-14's, and your NCO's were WWII left overs. If you were a PFC, It would take 5 years to make E-4. If it hadn't been for the army and air force, you guys would still be there! Oh well, Semper Fi!

HAPPY 70th MEL & MARV !!!

IT'S GREAT THAT YOU BOTH HAD YOUR BIRTHDAY ON THE SAME DAY THIS YEAR!!!

The Tree Surgeon Management checks have stopped coming...

I worry that you are both alright!

Have a great day celebrating the next decade,

.......Max.......

Hey Theobalds!  Happy Double Birthdays to Double Trouble!

Do you all ever get together and have birthday fun for your day of celebration?

I saw a small statue of a few rabbits holding balloons the other day.  The center is for a cake for Easter.

I think that you guys need a statue of you two holding balloons, with your birthday cakes in the middle.  It looked fun!

Hey Mr. Artist: See if you can whip one up!

Have a lovely birthday, with blessings, joy, and good health!

Love ya, Linda

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes.

Linda, the balloon cake idea is interesting, but I'm thinking water balloons. Much more fun throwing them. devil

Seems quite a coincidence that we're all turning 70 in the same year. But Max is right, this year Marv and I will be doing it on the same day. We've never turned 70 on the same day before. Ain't that weird? Or is it just Max? As for the Tree Cutting business taking off, we're still waiting for Marv to win the lottery. They both have about the same odds. smiley

Dave, best of luck on your knee surgery. And thank you for posting "Dave's Tales of Woe." You're a great inspiration. Glad to know the backstory.

Hey Mel:

The balloons are not real!  It is a circle with rabbits holding balloons.  The cake sits in the middle.

Now that you know that.....I would love to see the faces of you and Marvin on that ring that holds the cake!

Linda

Hey Max, check out your last comments to this site on your cell phone - you are much too manly for this girly font!  Lol

I don't know Linda. Rabbits with big ears are a lot cuter. Now that I think about it, our ears are getting bigger, too. So, it just might work. Marv lived in Texas for many years and we didn't get to celebrate together that often. In recent years we have, in part because our family reunion often coincides with our birthday. This time we'll have to wait 3 days before we get that honor. But what's 3 more days when you're 70?

Max, just saw Ann's post and thought we'd been down that road before. It looked fine on my MAC. And very colorful.

Happy Birthday to M & M!  Can't put one before the other so it's up to the boys to fill in the names.

To all those I've missed - Happy Birthday, belatedly.

All of your birthday wishes were greatly appreciated.  Since Mel and I have shared birthdays for the past 70 years I thought you might enjoy seeing a pic demonstrating how close we were and always have been.  Kind of hard to believe all of the years that have gone by since this pic was taken.

Mel...

Maybe it's Annie's computer that is screwed up?!  It looks like comic sans ms,Arial on mine.  I think it's Annie that is weird!  Now I'm afraid to change fonts again.

Maybe we should change the name of the tree cutting servive to something like BUSHWACKERS to drum a little more business.

I liked the pic Marv posted of the 2 of you.  You were really cute kids... however things change as we age a bit! Wow 70... you guys are old.  Lol

Reads like this on mine. Not at all "girlie" Max. And the Bushwackers idea makes me wonder what kind of business we're running here. Glad to know you haven't give up hope.

See Annie...  I told you you and your computer are weird!  Mel's works just fine.  You almost had me thinking it was me!

Hi All Y'all,

Good news is that the MRSA infection appears to have beaten into submission - blood work is coming back clean, all pre-admission testing is good and I'm scheduled for the 1st surgery of the day @ 7:30am on 8/15.

Not bad news, but - did you know that the baskets on the kiddie carts in the grocery store are exactly knee high?  I found that out today, but this too shall pass.

Mike Franks - I was one of those guys - NCO E5 sergeant, but it only took 16 months - but unless we were running overnight squad ambushes that I led, I only had 4 guys reporting to me, as I was in charge of the Forward Observers for companies India, Kilo, Lima, and Mike.  It was pretty easy as I was also the FO for India.  You're correct, our meals were leftover from Korea and we all pretty much got hooked on cigarettes, as we got a 4-pack with every box of C-rations.  We did NOT have to account for our rounds as we were in a free-fire zone - if it moved in the bush and wasn't another Marine, shoot it.  You're also correct about our supplies - we once went out on a 3-day op and didn't get resupplied until 12 days later, after being down to 1/4 rations, we finally got some food dropped to us and more ammo, and headed back inside the wire 3 1/2 days later.  That was the toughest patrol I ever was on.

Thanks again to everyone for all the prayers and kind thoughts!

Wow! You guy's are old! I won't hit the Seven-Oh, until the end of Oct. I think that Fry and I, are the baby's of this class?

David Long; We had a very generous WO. We supported "Jar-Heads", as best we could. After all, we were all Americans! Get well and heal-up!

Marv and Mel: Which of you are the oldest? One of you HAD to be first? I think it was Marv. He has most hair!

I'm proud to be a member of this great class! We had a few great jocks, but we also had the absolute, most beautiful girls, that ever graced the halls of BHS! I think that Roger Cox was in love with all of them.......

Mike, I won't be 70 until November 15th so I may be the youngest. Don't know for sure. Still can't wrap my mind around that number but in my mind I still feel young and when I think of our class members I still picture them like their senior high school pictures.
