When do we need to make Reservations for our 50th Class Reunion? August is full of travel and Celebrations for us and we would like to schedule our plans accordingly! Thank you in advance for allowing us to schedule flight reservations to coordinate with other plans!

David:

Have a good flight to China … it’s way too long!

The Shangri-La hotels in Beijing and Shanghai are nice places to stay. Food is a matter of taste but I’d avoid the sea urchins and birds nest soup. Also, if there are small turtles in the soup caldron, I’d avoid those as well.

Have fun.

Terrie

China?

Have a safe trip. Take a lot of pics, and share with us.

Have you been there before? The U.S. does a lot of business with China, and it's not uncommon to exchange reps. Caterpillar does a lot of that.

The closest I got to China is the 'other' China - Taiwan on my 3rd R & R.  The food there was great.  I picked up some face masks when I took Communion to the hospital today.  Should be good to go from that aspect.   We did hear that there are no Non-Smoking places in Beijing, including restaurants.  That will take a little getting used to.

Mike and Helen do not like creature posts, and so this is not one...

Mel asked me who rowed the boat if all three had jobs to do and so the answer follows... no blood, gore or bites here folks

No one rowed the boat... we did not use oars

The person lookin for frogs sat with his butt hanging over the bow of the boat, facing the stern. There using a short paddle hooked in the crook of the arm, called a sculling paddle, the boat could be slowly maneouvered. This same technique was used while bass fishing

Ed:

How do the 'good ol'boys do all of that and hold a nice cold beer?

Linda

Linda,

That also is an easy question

No one had a beer. I do not do boats n beer unless it is a pleasure boat. I have had a beer or so on Malinda's pontoon, but as the driver, never more than a couple... Afterwards, the beer might flow, not on the water.

A beer consumed on a bass boat, in the sunshine, makes me want to lay down and go to sleep. Those boats run at speeds in excess of 60 mph and you do not want to be the least bit buzzed

When I was a boy growing up on the river, the motors were very small and the river is very big and even then, we did not drink and fish or frog gig

Ed:  The recipe I have for snails, I also use, as directed, for frog legs.   I found that when you bake fish you can stuff it with the same recipe and its delicious.

It is just chopped parsley, softened butter, and pureed garlic made into a paste.   Garlic is to your taste.  No need for salt nor pepper.  I also found that cooked shrimp could be made into Scampi with the same recipe.

If you melt it, shrimp and lobster dips in it well too!  Then I added chile to the recipe...........pretty darn good!

Happy sailing!

For those of you who felt that Steve Jetton's athletic prowess could never be surpassed, it's been done by none other than his daughter Jessica. Congratulations to Jessica on her college Hall of Fame achievement. I'd been lobbying for years to get Steve into the BHS hall of fame...athletics.... academics.....anything. Hopefully, we'll get there someday.

Very impressive article about Chuck & Gwen.  Thank you Milan for sharing that.  I probably would not have seen it otherwise.

This is a little late but I've had the flu and I couldn't get up to use the computer.  I ended up in the ER Tuesday, so much for the flu shot.

Judy Mclean Wilders stepdaughter passed away last Friday.  Her name is Amy Kiel.  The obit  was in the pantagraph but I can't remember how to down load it.  If someone wants to do that it would be great.

Thanks

I'm confused..........the article that Milan posted the link for indicates that Chuck Yurieci is 72? I'm thinking that must be an error since he graduated with us in "64"! This has me stumped?

I think he got his masters at ISU in 1972

I attended my first FBI Citizen's Academy class last night.   It was very interesting.  Besides the historical background of the FBI, agent's presented narratives and a Power Point of photos, of different arrests they've made.

Here's hoping that the subsequent classes are equally as interesting.

They said this is the 17th year of conducting the Citizen's Academy across America.  They compile information to let us know how the bureau works.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Contrary to reports, I have not dropped off the face of the earth.  I have just had a really busy year with work, twin grandbabies, bathroom remodeling, and life in general.  I just completes two consulting projects that were much more time consuming than I had anticipated and I am ready to get back to my life.  Since was last active, I have 3 more grandchildren, making a total of 7.  The twins Sage (girl) and Cassidy (boy) were born  Nov. 9, 2012.  The next is Hudson, born March 25th...going to North Carolina to meet him Saturday.  Ain't life grand!
