Michael (Mike) Franks

Jack, I'm stuck in B/N!

Send money!

Lots of money!

04/22/14 04:11 PM #4400

Jack Habich

Mike,

You need to send me this in regular email form before I buy into it and cough up some cash.

04/22/14 05:58 PM #4401

Milan Jackson

And Jack didn't send a dime either. (laugh)

Jack Habich

Now Milan,  you may have forgotten...which is understandable since you never saw the money.....To refresh my memory, I checked back to my post of 1-23-13.....I knew I sent some money, but now remember it's safely back back in the bank.

Here's the 1-23-13 post:

Jack Habich

I alerted Interpol, and they caught a Nigerian who had checked into the Manila Hilton under the name of Sidney M. Jackson. Handcuffed him as he came down to pick up his package at the front desk. I’m told that my 10G is on the way back to me.

Boy, did I get fooled on that one.

I'm getting excited.

Jack are you involved in international espionage? This could be a plot. You may end up as a character for Child, Ludlum, Baldacci, or Flynn.

Watch your back!     CIA, KGB, guns, women, assassinations........Lots of bad guys.

Milan Jackson

Jack, how did you know my middle name is Sidney? :)

Jack Habich

Milan, when you're in the line of work that Mike describes, you tend to know these things.

Linda, talk about surveillance.  I recently attended a bizarre  attempted torture/murder trial.  Guy was an ex Chicago cop, killed some people, got overturned, killed somebody else and got death row….Northwestern law students had that overturned and he was freed after 8 years on DR.  Sued FBI, got awarded $6 ½  million but appellate court overturned settlement.

In the latest case, the FBI took no chances.  Rooms and people were wired, but they were uneasy following him since he’d been trained in counter-surveillance techniques.  They had two helicopters and an airplane following him for three months, not to mention 20 agents.

Here is a video of a high flying  airplane surveillance taken in the evening with an infra-red camera….he’s driving, stops to put a tracking device on his girlfriend’s car, goes to a park in Buffalo Grove to dispose of evidence and home to his condo there.  Once these people have you in their sights, you’re in trouble.

That's really cool.

I read a lot of pulp fiction and enjoy it. When it happens for real, it's even better.

Love it when the bad guys go down.

Linda, maybe you'll get to meet Nicole Vance or Michelle Maxwell?

Linda Bristow (Elias)

Jack and Mike:

The surveillance was fun!   It was at a shopping center......there was a lot of people.  Next week we get to make the arrest!   Looking forward to it!

I get to buy from their FBI stuff next week.  Anyone need a hat, cup, gym bag, etc.  Let me know.

Thanks for putting up with my excitement about this.

Linda

Gary Wilcox, son of Gary Wilcox and Linda Kletz Wilcox has passed away. God be with Linda at this sad time. We should never have to bury our kids.

BLOOMINGTON — Gary Wilcox, 48, of Bloomington, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family and lifelong friends on the evening of Thursday (April 24, 2014), after a yearlong courageous battle with neuroendocrine carcinoma.

In his last few months, it was his priority to assure his family would be taken care of in the future. During this precious time, Gary purposely spent individual time with each person he loved.

Gary was the ultimate outdoorsman and a skilled taxidermist whose passion was hunting, fishing and communing with nature. One of his favorite pastimes was to take a drive around Lake Evergreen to spot deer and turkeys.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, Bloomington. His funeral will be at noon at the memorial home. The Rev. Isaac Hayes will officiate. Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery, Downs.

Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or Community Cancer Center, both in Normal.

Gary was born in Bloomington, on March 30, 1966. He graduated from University High School in 1984. He lived the majority of his life in his hometown, but also resided in Florida for many years.

Gary had a diverse work background. The job he enjoyed the most was at WSI in Naples, Fla., where he spent 11 years as a heavy equipment operator and dispatcher.

Gary is survived by his mother, Linda Wilcox, Bloomington; brother, John Wilcox, Naples, Fla.; sister, Becky Meredith, LeRoy; grandson, Jaylen Hayes, Bloomington; nieces, Brittany Wilcox and Hillary Gardella, and great-nieces, June and Nora, all of Naples, Fla.; and grandmother, Virginia Kletz, LeRoy. Gary also leaves many cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sonja Wilcox; father, Gary Wilcox; maternal grandfather, Robert Kletz; and paternal grandparents, Clarence and Marguerite Wilcox.

Gary was a humble and gentle giant who greeted everyone with a beautiful smile and a kind word. Gary always stated, “Family is everything.” He loved them all and knows they loved him and nothing can take that away.

He gave so much in this life and expected so very little in return.

Condolences and memories may be sent at www.kiblerbradyruestman.com.

Where's our friend Mr Hayes hiding out?  I'm down in Louisville visiting daughter & will be going to the Oaks Friday and the Derby.  Need to see some racing chat so I can maybe make an intelligent bet - we all know Rod is the expert.  I know next to nothing.  Is California Chrome a horse or a drink?

if I win big, Rod - or anybody else with a hot tip, I'll split the take with you.

04/30/14 08:17 PM #4414

Terry (Max) Maxwell

Steve...

Here's my hot tip.  BTW I'm no expert at handicapping horses, but I'd put my money on California Chrome... especially if the sun is out during the race.  He is real shiney and will blind the rest of the horses!  Gotta be an advantage!  Second thought... maybe you'd better consult with Mr. Hayes.

Good luck and have fun,

Max

David Long

I predict that a horse ridden by a jockey will win!  Does that count for a split of the big prize money?

05/02/14 09:55 AM #4416

Steve Jetton

Dave, I'll give your question the consideration it merits (to coin a phrase).

Actually, I am going to look for a horse without a jockey.  The lighter load should be an advantage.

05/02/14 11:47 AM #4417

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Hey Steve, I saved up $2 to bet on Hoppertunity and see that he's been scratched from the Derby. So, I want to give my two bucks to you if you're willing to go into partnership on California Chrome. Better offer than Dave's or Max's. I think those guys are trying to scam you. Bettor (pun intended) be careful. Next thing you know they'll have you betting on jockeys without horses. LOL

05/02/14 02:21 PM #4418

Terry (Max) Maxwell

Now Mel thinks he's an expert handicapper because he wears Jockey shorts!  $2 is a lot of money Mel... be careful how you throw it away.  You'd better stick with tree surgery.

05/02/14 10:17 PM #4419

David Long

Steve, When you're at the window, please put $5 on Dance With Fate to Place.  While he'll probably win, betting on Place is more of a sure thing.  After  collecting the winnings and deducting your cut, I may even have enough left to buy the gas to drive to the reunion.

05/04/14 07:22 PM #4420

Steve Jetton

Didn't get the benefit of some of this "horse sense" until I got back this evening.  In your case, Dave, that was probably a good thing.  As for the gas money, I guess you will have to hitch hike to the reunion.  Might want to leave home a little earlier.

Mel, I didn't bet California Chrome to win because he wouldn't pay much, given his odds.  Did pair him up in an exacta with Midnight Lucky, who wasn't so lucky.

In one of the earlier races hit on an 8-1 shot named Jessica's Star.  That was a scientific selection based on my lovely daughter's name.

Then hit an exacta a bit later with Judy the Beauty and somebody else, which paid off nicely.  That selection was naturally inspired by Judy Neal.  That's my story anyhow, and I'm sticking to it.

So those pretty much covered my loses for the day, with enough left over for a bottle of water.

05/04/14 08:09 PM #4421

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Geez Steve, still got my two bucks and no where to spend it. I was counting on you to double it. Guess I'll have to save it to cover gas money to the reunion. If I see Dave on the the highway, I'll give him a lift. Might even buy him an ice cream cone.

Max, that tree trimming thing isn't working too good. So I'm afraid we're going to have to lay you off for now. Have no doubt, this hurts me as much as it does you, but if you are on the road with Dave, you both get ice cream. Promise.

05/05/14 10:18 AM #4422

Terry (Max) Maxwell

Mel...  Thanks for the offer, but if you find Dave and I on the road together, one of us is really lost.  Now that I'm laid off I guess I'll leaf the tree business.  Happy Cinco de Mayo!

05/05/14 10:58 AM #4423

David Long

Max, why don't we meet in Bloomington and Mel can spring for a whole half gallon of ice cream. The heck with these kiddie cones from DQ. Dorothy & I are in Chicago today seeing if we're going to be grandparents today or have to wait another couple of weeks.
