I think I have pictures of everything. (laugh)

Yes, it's on Clinton and Bell.

I think Linda Buttry Roberts is the music director there.

I am not at all surprised to hear that, as the Buttry family was very much involved in activities at Grace Church.

Suzi, I seem to recall seeing Donny Penn last in the later 60's.  Think I was at a joint called Cecil's Place and there was a party afterward and Don was there...think he was in the Navy at that time.  Cecil's, at another time, was also where I last saw Gary McQuown.

 Suzie,

We'll probably just miss you when you come this way because we're leaving probably in March some time, but will be watching the weather in Manitou Springs, CO before deciding when we'll head back home.  It's too cold there right now, but will need to get home by the first part of April because we need to do our taxes.

Enjoy your cruise.  We've been on two of them and they're great.  You don't fix meals, make beds or read maps.  Just let the Captain do the driving.  Food will put weight on you.  Make sure you go to at least one midnight buffet.  They're fabulous.  Our kids have both been to Hawaii several times. Hopefully we'll make it one of these days.  My brother is over there right now and they go once a year.

Enjoy!

I've seen Don Penn a couple of times this past year at Shannon's.

Gary McGowan's parents use to belong to the Corn Belt Boat Club along with my parents.  We use to water ski together.  Had forgotten about him.  Didn't he graduate in 63?

Yes, Gary graduated in '63.

OMG - love all the chatter about the Y dances.  Some of my best memories.  I remember "begging" my parents to let me go.  Dave Holt was my heart throb then and I remember not being able to wait until the dances to see him.  I also took ballet & toe at the Y from a woman named Galina Osichenko (sp). for a few years.  I also took baton lessens there.  That was a great place when we were growing up.  Did anyone ever go to the dances they used to have at State Farm Park on the patio?  We were fortunate enough to grow up in a great time and I so appreciate it now.

Wow!  I believe that may be Mary Jane Graham.   My how we all have changed!  She was always so sweet and shy!

Cheryl, my parents both retired from State Farm and yes, I went to many many dances at State Farm Park on the Patio.  In fact I first saw my lifelong husband at a State Farm Dance with another girl while dancing together.  After we married, we ran around with Kathy McShane and Ronnie Monkman.  Her Dad and family lived in the house at that park and was care taker there for many years.  After we were married Kathy McShane Monkman and Ronnie Monkman, who have been divorced for several years, snuck Rita Moore Duncan and Jim Duncan, Ronnie Brownfield and Marsha Hutson Brownfield, Tommy and I and can't remember who else into the park after midnight and we went swimming in the lake together.  Her folks, McShanes were out of town when we did that. I also attended Day Camp at State Farm Park as a kid.  Carol McCauley Swartz and I spent lots of time swimming there during the summer breaks.  Lots of good memories there!  It was fun!

Jack,  Carol McCauley Swartz and I attended most of the Y-Teen Dances at the Y and were a part of the girls sitting against the wall waiting patiently for someone to ask us to dance.  Carol was always the one that guys chose to dance with.  She was a foxy lady and still is a sweetie!

Cheryl, I took ballet from Galina too for years, I took ballet because I was pidgeon toed as a

youngster and Deanne Hilfinger and Mary Alice Schlenker took ballet with me too. I don't remember you from my classes, but I do remember Leslie and John Stipek.

I regret that I was never exposed to ballet lessons.  Had I only known that this was going on only a block away.

Jack... It is too bad you didn't get to take ballet lessons.  I'm sure you would have looked great in a tutu!

Max, when I think of the lost opportunities in my life, it drives me bananas.

Ann, I don't remember you either at the ballet classes.  My lessons were on Saturday mornings.  My first recital was at Presser Hall at Wesleyan.  Galina was a hoot walking around with her cane or stick.  I was scared to death of her.  You either learned or was out!!!  Between toe shoes and Capezios, my feet are wrecked!!!

Steve Wilson got an Ipad which gives him computer access, so he is able to follow this forum and other things now.  He read about his scraped nose from the penny pushing, and says he still might have a scab or two.

Just must have been the boys that got initiated because I don't remember anything like that happening to the girls.  Ann, you said you took ballet and toe because you were pigeon toed, well, I took lessons because after I had polio I had to do things that strengthened my leg muscles and Galina really gave them a workout!  And Victor, c'mon, don't you have a dictionary?  Quire is choir for God's sake.  I'm just giving you a hard time because I can.  Don't take anything I say to you seriously.  It's all meant in fun.

Cheryl,

I took tap dancing lessons somewhere downtown Bloomington.  Susan Ford and I took baton lessons at the Y also.

I remember the Y-teen dances.  Lots of fun.

Linda,

Ron Maple, Alan Haggard, Susan McConnell, Susan Ford and I all lived on Felton Place.  We used to have some great baseball games back than.  Alot of kids from other neighborhoods would come over and we would play baseball or tag or what ever.
