Karen Sue (Suzi) Denton (Merritt)

little set back tonight.  Dave was suppose to get out of ICU late today but he had a problem with his heart.  I will say this Barnes hospital is the best.

I really appreciate all the prayers but still more.  I would also like for our class to say a prayer for the doners family.  They gave us a selfless gift.  Bless them!!

All our kids have gone home, which I'm glad because they probably would'nt have if they were here earlier when he had the episode with his heart.

Let me know when I can cool it!

Love ya, Linda

Milan...

Well, your 15 minutes of fame only lasted about 1 minute, but that's longer than most of us!

Milan, I haven't seen the show yet so I hope it recorded.

Dave had a echo today but we don't have results yet.  Ed, yes I do know what you had to go through.  God willing we will not go through it.

Linda, keep em coming!

I haven't seen the show. We don't get the Travel Channel. God bless you, Suzi and good luck.

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Suzi, hoping all is going well. When you have time, we're all waiting for an update. Is Dave out of ICU?

Milan, watched the Dead Files on VOD last night. You were great. Calm, cool, smart...with the shots of tractors and chickens they made you out to be some kind of farmboy on steroids. As I watched, I had the feeling you were totally set up by the director to do exactly what he wanted. For my money, you should get an Emmy along with Bill Kemp. He gave them some real ammunition with that photo of the Poor House.

Milan,

Also happened to see you on the Dead Files the other night.  Nicely done and I too liked the bucolic shots.

Hate asking, but what is DEAD FILES and is there a link so we can view?

02/11/13 01:20 PM #3647

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Helen,

The program Dead Files specializes in paranormal phenomenon....as in ghosts and spirits....and just for the record, I am with Milan, I don't believe in such things. But astonishingly some 47% of Americans do...which accounts for the popularity of this program  If you have access to VOD (VIdeo on Demand) from your cable provider, look for Free Extras (that's how RCN lists it), then go to the Travel Channel and you'll find the Dead Files listing, look for the show that aired on Feb. 8 called "Forgotten-Bloomington, IL". To find Milan, fastforward to about the 25 or 30 minute mark and THERE HE IS.

There are also some clips on the Internet, but I didn't find anyplace with the whole program. Lots of luck. If anyone is interested enough, I could probably save to a DVD, then write to my computer to capture some still images.

Mel, I was directed as to where to stand. I told them I wouldn't appear on camera unless I could tell only the truth. They never asked me to do otherwise. But the farm was borrowed for my shot. I think they wanted people to think it might be the King farm. It wasn't even close. I did much of the research but nothing to do with spirits. :)

Sorry it took me so long to answer questions, but Dave was released from hospital late today.  We were both shocked!  We have to stay in St. Louis for about two weeks.  The echo was ok and the liver scan was real good.  Again thank you for the prayers.  Looking forward to getting home.

Mel, if at all possible, maybe you might be able to save it on your computer, then share the link on this site? I don't know whether that's possible, however only a suggestion?

Thanks for the info!

Sweet Jesus, what a scare with the heart, but tests are OK!  Good news on the liver scan too!

I'm going to 'keep 'em coming a little longer.

Blessings to you both....with much happiness and relief!

Love ya, Linda

Milan:

Thanks for sharing the show.  You did very well!  My father was born 1900 and my mother in 1904.   I remember them bringing up the topic of the Poor Farm.   They would remark about people that they had heard of who had been taken to the Poor Farm.  The photo of that was eerily of buildings that I seem to remember having seen.  Was the Poor Farm on the Northwest side of Bloomington?  I remember a fairly high wire fence around the property when we passed by, and my parents remarking that it was the Poor Farm.

Also, our mailman, Wilbur Gehlsthorpe who lived on 1025 E. Front St. had mentioned it before, when I was present.  He was talking to another man who had been a farmer and moved to town to retire while his younger family ran their farm.

Very interesting!

Linda

The Poor Farm was just west of South Main St. past the south edge of town. It would have had nothing to do with the King Farm.

The old McLean County Nursing Home was by the Poor Farm before the nursing home moved to Normal. FYI, I don't have a farm. I don't live on a farm. I am too lazy to run a farm. :)
