Karen Sue (Suzi) Denton (Merritt)

Jack, Les was raised by his grandparents on his mothers side. She died when he was an infant.  His grandparents were great friends of my mom and dad.  They played cards together and my x-husband and I also played.  We played poker.  I hated to see them move but I think they to be closer to Les and his family.

Back home from Uof Illinois hospital.  Dave had his treatment for liver cancer.  Very tiring three days.

Suzy,

Heard about Dave and I wish him/you the very best in licking this thing completely.

As I remember Les’ grandfather, he was built kind of lanky just like Les.  Don’t remember his grandmother.

After I left Bloomington in ’69, I lost track of Les and most things Bloomington.  It was a jolt to sit in Georgia in 1980, and to see big article in the paper about a guy who lived maybe 100 yards away.

Thank you guys for the thoughts and prayers!  Now it's my turn to preach!  Please don't over indulge in the booze!  Also if your are not a doner think about being one.  I've been one since the dark ages.  And yes Dave shouldn't drank his many cocktails in his younger years but he hasn't had a drink in 3 1/2 years.  His problem now is he has a gene he inherited called hemachromatis (sp) where body retains to much iron.  So no we just pray no more cancer and that he can get on the transplant list.

I'm still going to try to be on the reunion committee.

Suzi,  I'm so very sorry to hear about Dave.  As I have said in the past, I've been on both sides of this coin.  I have a pretty good understanding of what you are both going through.  Try to keep a positive attitude and fight for every day.  Never give up.  Forget the past, and keep your focus on just the next day.  God bless.

Ed, thank you and yes I know you understand.  I hope Milanda is doing better.  She is in our prayers.  We head back up to Chicago Tuesday to meet with a bunch of people for the transplant list.   Did they put Milanda on the list?  Where does she get treated?

suzi,

malinda is not eligible for a transplant. Her cancer is metastatic from the colon, and she also has spots on her spleen and lung that are probably cancer as well. the chemo keeps al of them in check.

She takes her treatment in Springfield. Her dr is one of the best in the area. Malinda has a friend since 2nd grade who was recently diagnosed. She went to mayo Clinic and after a week of run arounds, she called Malinda and asked her if she would ask Dr. Gianonne if he would consider treating her. He said yes, she went in for an initial consult and had her first treatment an hour later!.. he does not fool around.. and he may very well be the kindest gentlest man I have ever known.

Some of you have been mentioning what you did or are going to do for your 66th.

I have mine planned out:   take another gun class for my permit, then, I have signed up to have a lesson toward flying helicopters to see if I like it.

I saw where the flying car is going to be available for sale.  That inthused me!  Just want to be ready in case I ever get to FLY a car.

My third grade teacher, Mrs. Kutchen from Washington Elementary, told us at the beginning of the school year that we would probably live to the year 2000.   Also, that who knows, we might be driving space ships by then.   I laughed to myself that my 2000 big van was my space ship.   I would love to be able to drive/fly a flying car in my lifetime!

Problem is that I still believe in Santa!

I feel so fortunate to have seen and experienced so much in my lifetime as I'm sure many of you do too!

Hope you all have a good weekend!  Linda

: 60th Year Class Reunion

He was a widower and she a widow.  They had known each other for a  number of years, being high school classmates and having attended class  reunions over the last 25 years. This 60th anniversary of their class,  the widower and the widow made a foursome with two other singles.  They  had a wonderful evening, their spirits high.  The widower throwing  admiring glances across the table.  The widow smiling coyly back at  him.

Finally, he picked up courage to ask her, “Will you marry  me?”  After about six seconds of careful consideration, she answered,  “Yes, yes I will!”  The evening ended on a happy note for the widower.  And they exchanged cell phone numbers.

But the next morning he was  troubled.  Did she say “Yes” or did she say “No?”  He couldn’t  remember.  Try as he would, he just could not recall.  He went  over the conversation of the previous evening, but his mind was  blank.

He remembered asking the question but for the life of him  could not recall her response.  With fear and trepidation he called  her.  First, he explained that he couldn’t remember as well as he used  to.  Then he reviewed the past evening.  As he gained a little  more courage, he then inquired of her:  “When I asked if you would  marry me, did you say ‘Yes’ or did you say ‘No’?”  “Why you silly man I  said, ‘Yes.  Yes I will.’  And I meant it with all my  heart.”

The widower was delighted.  He felt his heart skip a beat.

Then she continued,  “And I am so glad you called because I couldn’t remember who asked me!”

Judith (Judy) McLean (Wilder)

Suzy,

I've been thinking about you and Dave since we talked on the phone the other day.  I'm not sure if I told you that my brother-in-law had a liver transplant about 10 years ago.  He is doing great.  He was on the list for about a year and a half before he got it.  He had it done at Loyola in Chicago.  They moved back from Phoenix to go to Loyola for treatment.  I've been praying for you both and will continue to do so.  Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Dave should be happy...the cardinals are doing great!!!!  Go Cards!

Judy

Judy, thank you!  We met with the transplant team today.  It went quit well.  It sounds like they are trying to get him on the the list real soon because of the cancer.  We go back to Chicago next Monday.   More blood work.

Yes he's real happy about the cardinals except for last night when my cubbies beat their butts!  We didn't get to see the game because it was blacked out up in Chicago.

The one thing I noticed about the planning group was that everyone, except Holt, had a Red Cup to drink from.  I have to wonder about his input.  But then, Jetton was there.  So, maybe he barred Dave from the Red Cup Club.

By the way Cardinal fans.   The Cardinals suck.  Always have and always will.  The CUBS will win the World Series.  Unfortunately, I will not see that happen, because I won't live into the next century.

Hey Jerry, (Plummer)!  What about Wilson.  I really liked that guy.  The Giants could have real problems later in the year without him.

All you horse race fans.  The Derby is right around the corner.

Suzi, may God's speed with ya'll.  Stay Positive.
