i have made that meal any number of times.. and we both absolutely pig out.. last night it did not smell good, it idd not taste good and even the garbage disposal had a hard time taking it... :)

On thursday, I begin my long awaited diet...

No resturant food, no food from a grocery store... medically supervised, see a dr every week and blood work every other week... eat only what is provided (Not free of course) by the dr's ofice...

But the anticipated weight loss is 20 pounds/month and the chance to get off most of the meds I take now...

We shall see..!

Ed - Hang in there.  After a couple weeks, you'll be just fine.  Easy for me to say, huh!

Jerry, and of course Jack -  HOW BOUT THOSE 49'ERS.  At first, I just wanted them to win.  But now, I hope they crush the Giants.  I'll be glued to the tv next Sunday for the game.  My really good buddy in Lexington, (who may be the biggest Green Bay fan I ever met), called me before the game.  I had to call him after the game to make sure he was OK.   He was pretty upset, but, he'll get over it by August.

As a lifetime Niner fan, we still treat the '80s with a certain amount of skepticism.  And, while the Saints went marching out, experience still teaches us to be mindful about "Wait 'till next year."   Never the less,

As Bud Grant used to say "each game in the playoffs is a brand new season".  Both SF and NY are hitting on all cylinders.  That will be a good game - pick'em as far as I'm concerned.

Brady still makes the forward pass look effortless. I've never gotten into Baltimore, and despite their good defense, will likely lose to the Pats.

Denver should not have been in the mix.

The Super Bowl is anybody's guess.

Some new, not-before-seen photos have been added and will continue to be added to the 2009 vertical list of photos.  The slide show remains the same.

Thanks for trying Sandy. I applaud your effort. I enjoy the website and jawing with some of the classmates, but as time slips by, we seem to grow further and further apart. I hope that you are well, and that you are enjoying life to the fullest.

Sandy, Mike...

Let me weigh in here if I may. As most know, I was, for decades, an absent class member. I had only one year with you at BHS, and have not lived in Bloomington since graduation. then the Theobalds and Sue got on my case and I attended the '09 reunion and had a ball!

Since that night, I have very much considered myself a member of this class and I have been delighted with the way this website has brought many of us closer together. I feel like I know many of you much better because of the virtual conversations we have had over the past year or so.. and I know we will have many more to come.

Sandy, I understand your fustration in trying to plan a get together and getting lettle response. I do think however that we need to consider the timing of the attempts. The holidays are stressful in and of themselves. There are many family obligations and many of us do not live in the area any longer. In addition, due to the weather, we would be 'cooped up" indoors. for all those reasons and more, I think the lack of responses you are getting could be classified as "now is not a good time" rather than "Nah, I don't wanna get together"

I did attend the get together last summer and had a great time.. I plan on doing it again ( depending on Malinda's heath) and from what I can gather it was well attended...

Mike, I think we are in many ways coming closer together instead of drifting apart and fully expect to see your butt a the next shindig!

I would like to take both sides of the fence on the last few posts.

I think back when Sue, for one (and many others probably had input), was putting together what she termed "mini reunions' for a couple of years.  There were either 2 or 3 per year.  I know there was one in the summer and one just before Christmas.  I think they were mainly designed for locals to meet and anyone else that might be in town for one reason or another.  They were planned far enough in advance that one could shedule to be there if they wanted to.

While I can't speak for Sandy, I believe she was trying to get people to agree to this same sort of get-together.  She didn't state that it had to be right now, but sometime this year, I'm assuming.  Whenever it would occur, you still have to pick a date and do some planning for where it would be held and make reservations.

I agree with Ed on the fact that this site is bringing many of us closer together than we used to be.  I know more about some of you now than I ever did.  A prime example would be Ed.  I hardly knew him in high school, but now know where he is from, what he likes to do, what he likes to drink, and try to share from afar in what he and Malinda are going through.

I remember when Sandy retired and (I think) her last day was February 29th, because she told me at a Christmas get-together at the Caboose that I attended.  The reason I seem to remember that is because, being the Leap Year day, she could only celebrate on her retirement date every four years!  I could be wrong on this, also, because with age goes the mind.

I also agree with Ed that Mike better have his butt at the the next one, no matter when it is... and if I can be there I'll buy him a beer.

I didn't make the one last summer... however I had planned to be there, but when it got changed from Saturday to Monday, I couldn't make it because of a prior abligation.  I do hope to be at the next one when it happens.

This is just my 2 cents worth,

Max

After a long absence from this website and from being engaged in the BHS Class of 64 activities I am ready to get involved once again.  The year 2011 was a very sad one for our class considering the loss of Steve Wilson and then Sue, who gave so much to this class and kept it on track in so many ways.  It was an even sadder year for Mel and for me since we lost our mother in March.  While I have not been visibly active in recent months, I have been in contact with several classmates in the past week or two and have been preparing to contact people locally to get us back on track for the mini-reunions and to initiate committee meetings to get started planning for our 50th class reunion.  Until Sandy posted her message last night there was no indication that anyone else was thinking about a serious effort to get us organized.  I am offering to be the point person to bring us together for that purpose.

It is my intent to make E-mail or phone contact with all of our classmates locally that can be reached in the next week in an effort to get a meeting date and place set and to establish a planning committee.  It is my sincere hope and belief that we can start the ball rolling to make our 50th  the best yet.  Thanks to the efforts of Jack Habich and Steve Jetton and the people who stepped forward with such strong support when asked to fund this website we have a newly funded and healthy class treasury.  For those who are not aware, the website is now paid for through July 18, 2017 not including the semi-annual need to renew the “Raider64.org” domain name.

This Message Forum is a great way for everyday communication and fun, but, since most classmates do not read all of the messages and many do not use internet on a regular basis or ever we need to do the leg work to make personal contact to give everyone an opportunity be a part of the planning committee.  The committee hopefully will give everyone equal input and decision making weight.  It also does not need to be limited to local classmates at all.  I ask that you all get involved in whatever way you can.

Two final points:  First, I want to give Milan Jackson a great big thank you for being so encouraging and making so much effort in bringing this Message Forum to life.   Second, I am trying to initiate this committee, but while I am ready and willing to organize it, I welcome anyone else to step up and perform or contribute to the role of getting it organized.  Please contact me through the website Member Message Center if you would like to participate in the committee.

I got no response from anybody when I asked for ideas,or dates. I figured people did not care anymore so I just gave up trying. I have been active in planing get togethers for years and I  just gave up on it, from the reponse people do want them, we can go from there.

Just for fun. Average is 73%. I got 75. A real car guy would get 90% or better. Girls will probably beat me on this. :)

http://www.americantorque.com/game/car-show-50s/

Marilyn will get 99%.

I got 90%!  That was fun!  I haven't identified cars since I was young. My sister and I use to know most all the cars. We'd name them while traveling with my parents.  Now days cars all look alike!  I have to wait until they get close enough so I can read the make and model.

Milan,

I only got 96%. The early Dodges were tuff and the Willys got me.

I got a 83% like you Ed.  I never was a Chrysler guy.  Never was and still aren't, and they kept me out of the mid 90's.

Jerry - In a split second, I saw the 49'ers go from Super Bowl to back home.  This could very very easily been a Ravens, 49'ers Super Bowl.  There was one good thing that came from that game.  Little Cry Baby, I won't play unless I get my way, Eli, got the s--t kicked out of him.  I suspect he will have a special, behind the scenes meeting with his blockers.  He'll have to let them know he was not happy picking himself up off the ground so many times, and that he does not appreciate going to the locker room with all that mud and dirt on him.  Get a life Eli.

Now Helen.  I think Joe was a good man and wanted to do the right things.  He was for sure a great coach in his day.   But he stayed in the game too long.  He should have gotten out a long time ago, especially when he got sick.  Almost any Doctor will tell you that the worst thing for a Cancer patient is Stress and losing Hope.  Joe was under more stress than any of us could probably imagine.  With that over the past few months, I really think he gave up.  It's too bad, but, I think he let a very bad situation become more than he could understand or handle.  Hopefully, his Legacy won't be this incident, and that people will remember him for Joe Paterno, the coach, the man.
