I, too am sorry I could not attend Sue's funeral and celebration of life.  You are correct, Jack, she would have wanted more celebrating and less mourning.  Thank you all for the pictures posted here on the Message Forum.  They really help for those of us that couldn't be there in person.  Sue will always live on in my mind because of her effervescent personality and zest for life.

Sue always told us to have everyone drive in seperate cars so her funeral procession would be a long one.  She certainly didn't have to worry... it was a long one!!!!  She would have loved it.  However if she was alive and riding in it she would have said "What the F**k can't we stop and get a drink?"  We celebrated her life the way she would have wanted us to and she was as always the cause of another mini-reunion for the class of '64.

Cheryl,

Happy Birthday!  Hope it's a great one!!!

Denny,

So sorry for your loss...I know we talked at Sue's visitation that you were expecting him to go soon.  Even when you expect it it hurts just as bad.  My prayers are with you and your family.

Sorry to hear about your father, Dennis.  I had a chance to talk to Orville at a funeral some years back.  A nice man with a vise-like grip.  The acorn doesn't fall far.

Denny, so sorry to hear about your dad. This is only one of the hard things we go through as we age. God bless you and your family.

Jack, Arnold, as a younger man is a breath of fresh air, however displaying the THEN and NOW is rather depressing.  Guess it's better than the alternative though?!?!?!?  Makes me want to remove all the mirrors from our home!  I guess Muscle Shirts and Bikinis are a thing of the past, however must admit that NONE of us (Class of 64) look that bad?  Is that denial or what?  Kinda like the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence?

Denny,  Our thoughts are with you upon hearing of the loss of your father.  My recollection of him was as a really good man which of course was the case with all sprinter's fathers.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Father Denny.  I know my Dad and yours were involved in a few transactions over the years.  My parents always respected him and had good things to say about him.

Milan,

I like that pic of Bucky's.  I worked there one summer when it was Sandy's.  A guy named Jerry Lindsey was the owner, operator.  He owned (3) at the time.  His Ass't. Mgr. was a guy named D-Wayne Buck.  They were pretty tight.  When Jerry moved on, if I'm not mistaken, but I'm not positive, he made it possible for D-Wayne to buy it.  Hence the name Bucky's.  Then, eventually, Hardee's bought it out as I recall.

Jack,

The Then, of Arnold, is a picture of Youth, Genetics, Diet, Lots of Hard Work, and the main ingredient, the right  combo of ROIDS.  The Now, is Aging, No Diet, No Work Outs, No Roids, Stress, Wife, No Wife, Kids, and really, just plain, I don't care any more.  I have all the money I need.

I loved the last lines of your post !   At our age that is a lot closer to the truth for many of us.

Well folks, just got back from Route 66 Missouri tour. Met a lot of interesting people.  One very nice retired professor from Melbourne, Australia. Got back Sunday night and am off tomorrow for a USS Sproston reunion in Pittsburgh.  Will return next week. Everyone stay safe and happy !

Harriett (Holly) Rust (Wood)

I have been off the internet for several days and was deeply saddened to learn of Sue's passing.  I can not remember ever seeing her without a smile.  I like to visualize her smiling on all of us and our crazy antics!

Denny, I am sorry about your Dad.  I lost mine in 1985 and I still miss him (especially as he was only a year older than I am now and I can't imagine not being around this time next year).

May each of us use these reminders of the brevity of life to reflect on the good times and good friends we have had and continue to have!  In Tiny Tim's words, "God bless us, everyone."

Rod,

The steroids did give him a slight boost early on, didn't they? :)

Later, before he became governor, prior to making a film, he used to spend weeks working out 3 hours in the a.m. and then again in the afternoon just to to get into movie shape.  After that, it goes south very quickly when you let it go.

In 1977, before he became a major celebrity, I actually had a chance to talk to him when he made an appearance at the neighborhood Chicago Health Club.  (That's not something he would have done a few years later).  We grew up not far from each other, and discussed that.  A little bit guarded and arrogant at first, but then he normalized.
