August 8th, 2011 at 7pm, the Class of 1964 is having a gathering at Gill Street Bar and Grill. This is a restaurant as much as a bar and from what I hear, they have good food. We will be making reservations so we need a rough count of who is coming so we plan on enough space for everyone. We have several friends coming from out of state to see us so don't let them down. Let's have a good showing. See you all on Monday night, August 8th at Gill Street.

Ed, I'd like to try your grits, but not instant, which we already have (and I like) around here.  Maybe at some future mini reunion you could cook us up some, if we find the venue.

Don't know if you saw the movie "My Cousin Vinny" with Joe Pesci.  Grits preperation helped solve the case, and it cracked me up when part of the court testimony was "no self respecting southerner would have instant grits".

I have no idea what mudbugs are.

I do know about people not knowing about foods.  As most Europeans, my family used to eat yogurt back in the 50's.  Friend Bob Winger ('63) used to contort his face and say "ewuu, how can you eat that *&*@".  In the 70's, they came up with a gimmick that in a certain Russian area people lived to be 110 because they ate yogurt, and the Baby Boomers lapped it up.  I'll have to talk to Winger about that.

Jack,

Y'all want grits..I'll happily cook em for ya..

mudbugs are crawfish  cajuns, and others folks who know how to eat good stuff, boil them with spices and serve them hot with beer... one breaks the bugs at the junction between the thorax and the tail... pinch the end of the tail and deliciious meat almost pops out... then the thorax is eaten  This is referred to as" pinchin tails and suckin heads..."

Nuttin is better'n bugs n beer

Yes I did see My cousin Vinny and laughed thru it as well

Mother made homemade yogurt in the '50's as well... I loved it... I eat the bland stuff they call yogurt now, but it was nothin like what we used to get

I am lookin forward to seein everyone Monday night... you still have time to change your mind!

Somebody please bring a camera tonight.  No camera and shots like the above ('07) are lost.  This class likes pictures, and it gives those not in attendance a feel for what is happening.  Eventually, we'll get a section called "mini reunions" on the left menu board.
