Helen,  I have the Brown's address, phone, etc.  I'm not sure when I will get to see them, but when I do, I will absolutely let them know you sort of sent me and that you are thinking about them.  Now Cricket is OK, but I don't know about all that hugging on Bill.  You know, Ex-Marine, motorcycle guru, daredevil type guy.  I think I'll just let him know YOU send your love, hugs and kisses.

Mr. Habich,

I'll be at the Colonial Golf Tournament all day tomorrow, so I'll give you the Preakness buzz.  Only five horses from the Derby will be in this race.  However, there will be 14 and that is a lot for this race.  Animal Kingdom lucked out.  The owners were afraid he would draw a low gate position.  That would be bad since all the horses in this race will be speed horses, sort of the Terry Maxwell type.  If that happened he would most lilkely get boxed in and never get outside.  He drew the 11 spot.  The only problem I see with that is if he runs on the outside, he'll have to run a  much longer race and I don't know if he has that in him since this is a sprint.  He does look like he has it though.  Since all the horses will be moving quick, he'll  get to the rail too late.  I'm looking for Shackleford to win.  He kinda ran out of gas in the Derby, but this is a sprint race.  He will be down in the 5 spot and if he breaks quick and clean, he will be hard to catch.  Astrology could be a horse that will really surprise people.  He had Smith on his back and he is one of best ever.  One of the better longshots if you have a few bucks to waste will be Concealed Identity.  A doubtful winner, but could really mess things up for the others if he gets out quick.  Mucho Macho Man is a really good horse with a lot of races so far, but he just can't seem to put that WIN logo on his back.  Unless there is a horse that just doesn't belong here, when they hit that stretch, they should be really bunced up and it will be fun to watch.

Ok Rod, I read it all three times, and it seems like a tough one to figure.  If Jetton gave me info like this, he would give me the Butch Hoy of sprinters.

You didn't see my early story about how Jetton gave me all the wrong answers for Irving Aikin's geometry class, grinned from ear to ear as I read his garbage off in front of the class, and insured that my math days at BHS were over.

OK Rod, guess I was pushing things a little too far asking you to give them BOTH Hugs and Kisses.  I won't tell if you don't tell!  Ha Ha!  Anyway, your idea to relay our message will do if you insist!  Ha!  Take a picture and share how OLD Bill looks!  Wink wink!  Gotta rib Bill about something.  And if you have time count the gray hairs on his head so we can compare............................Bet I win!

Rod,

It was interesting reading your picks for the Preakness.  My husband is a big horseracing fan and I told him who your picks were and he said he likes Shackleford too.  He made note of the other horses you mentioned on his program so he could see how you did.  I'm not sure if he will make the trip over to Bloomington to the off track and make a bet or not.  He did for the Derby but didn't cash a ticket.  It's a lot farther for him to go since the Off Track in Peoria closed and if you don't have a winner you kind of wonder why you bothered, especially with the price of gas.  Of course if he doesn't go bet and then his picks win he'll say "Why didn't I go make a bet?"  It's the story of our lives!  Ha Ha!  It will be interesting to see how you both do!!!!!

Glad to see you on this forum.  I don't alway respond but do usually read it every day to see who has been on.  It's a great way to stay in touch with everyone.

Judy

Milan, I not only need wheels, I ned someone to recharge my brain.. I thik the battery died.

I had a sales rep retire and I had spent the previous 2 weeks shadowing him to learn the names of the customoers he sees daily/weekly/biweekly/monthly... then He left and I had to see those folks. Now I have a new rep, and I have to take him around to introduce him to them... long story short...nah too late for that.... for the first time in 15 or so years, I have been calling on customers daily and this is the 4 th week of it with one more to go...

trying to keep customers addresses, and individual names straight along with purchasing prefrences while teaching a new rep has damn near killed me... all I can think of is that glass of bourbon on Friday evening along with a BIG cigar.

To put the cork in the bottle so to speak, my new rep has loads of nervous energy when not around customers and he talks! I think he was vaccinated with a stereo needle! He will be good with customers, but his constant talking and stories are about to send me to outer space...in fact, I may move up the bourbon and cigar (s)

I am too damn old for this

Just to keep you informed, not long ago we averaged 5-8 visits per day. A visit only counts once per day for each person. So if you are in here 5 times today, it counts as one. In the last ten days we have averaged over 18 per day. Thanks to all of you.

Another stat for those who follow them, from 9/29/09 to 12/31/10 there were 160 messages on this board. From just 1/1/11 to now, we have added 1028. Jack and I didn't do those numbers, you did. We thank you again.

Milan, thanks for sharing the picture of Bill and Cricket.  Guess when I mentioned counting gray hairs, I failed to remember that Bill got bald like his Dad was!  Yes, that IS a great picture of them and yes, Cricket is a real doll!  We're so happy that they're happy!  Haven't seen them since they were in Red River, New Mexico, managing an Elk Ranch!

Hi,

When do you all have the breakfast get together?   I don't know anything about it except that there was one around Xmas.  I'd enjoy seeing classmates.

Thanks, Madelon

Madelon, every Wednesday morning at Shannon's. We start filling in there around 8 but don't usually eat before 8:30. Would love to see you. Hope you remember me. :)

Hi Milan,

Thanks for the info.  Yes, I do remember you :)  We will have to catch-up....are you Class of '63?

Milan Jackson

Yes, I am from the class of 63. I am sort of on loan. (laugh)

Madelon and I worked together at Hubbard's and I dated one of her neighbors.

Jack H - I see you are trotting out that old story about me scamming you in Aikens geometry class.  I can't say that I actually remember it but you are a credible fellow, so I am sure it's true.  I am also sure that you never asked me for answers again.

Okay, to make up for it, I'll share a free financial tip with you and classmates:  Get the AARP chase visa card (www.aarpcreditcard.com). Maybe you are already aware of it, considering all the junk mail AARP sends. At any rate, this baby gives you a 5% cash reward on all purchases for the first 6 months. Use it for every single thing you pay for. I am just getting ready to pay my property taxes with it. No fine print or strings attached; I've used it for 2 months and done the math to make sure I'm getting it all.

I've been using a 1% card for years and feel like this deal is Christmas come early. After the 6 months are up, this one gives 1% plus 3% for travel related stuff.

The caveat, of course, is that you want to pay it all off every month. Set up an automatic payment from your checking account.

If you really want to game the system, I was reading a blog where a guy had his spouse take one out after the first 6 months were up. I really have no moral qualms about that - all is fair in love, war, and dealing with credit card companies.

This is more of a sure thing than Hay's tips for the Preakness.

We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

AND

Every time I start thinking too much about how I look,
I just find a pub with a Happy Hour and by the time I leave, I look just fine.

OK Steve, I'll accept your due dilligence on the AARP card with the 5% kickback and will consider this a partial repayment for your almost derailing my HS education.

In HS, I figured why bust my butt learning the Pythagorean Theorem when I could be at The Gag while you sat at home studying and making yourself fully capable of explaining it to me the next day.  Instead, you almost saw to it that my future would be working at The Gag rather than dining there.

I have no qualms at all about Dee taking a second AARP card after six months.  I consider credit card issuers to be a legal and sugar coated version of Mad Sam De Stefano.  Sure Sam charged a few more points, but he was open 24 hours and didn't check your credit report.

Because of you, Irving Aikin's class was the last math class I ever took. I did however, make a math resugence of sorts in later years.  Through various jobs and industries, I seemed to be the go to guy to figure out margins, mark-ups and discounts.  I'm guessing that the people that asked me for help would have been great in  Aikin's class.

I'll sign up for the card tomorrow.

If the world is going to end today at 6pm, do I really need a calendar or a watch? Should I eat an early supper? Should I fill my gas tank? Should I continue to recycle? Do I make the bed? Do I take Billie to the grocery store? Do I stick to my diet? What about those on airplanes? Do they miss it all but no where to land? Do I really send in my property tax? Do I bother to go to work at the museum today? So many decisions, so little time. :)

Well said Milan!  Should I write my last Message to the Class of 64 and call my children?????  HMMMMMM!  All these decisions!  Enjoy your day!

It has been brought to my attention that some of you don't have your profiles secured. This is your choice but you need to know that non-members of this site can see your entire profile. If you want this changed, go to Edit Profile. It will open your profile. Scroll down and check Profile Visibility. This will insure that only members can read your profile. If you are comfortable with it unlocked, that is your right. I have mine locked out.

If you have any doubts about your security, log off and come back to the site without logging back in. Look at Classmate Profiles and you can see who has a lock next to their names. If you need help getting this fixed, let me know. It's an easy process for an administrator to do it for you.
