Sad news has been coming far too often to our class and unfortunately today brings news of yet another loss.  Ron Bess has contacted me and made me aware of the passing Vicki Daugherty on September 23. Her loss will be deeply felt by many of our classmates. You may click on In Memory in the menu list to see her obituary and to make comments with your thoughts and memories.

We missed out by not seeing Vicki at more of our reunions.  May she rest in Peace!  She was always so sweet natured.  I think of her often.

In the VW, she once needed a ride.  I agreed, but I was in a hurry to get to work on time, after school.  When we arrived at her house, she said I should aspire to be  a race car driver.  She made me laugh!  Little did she know that I was always in a rush!

Lovingly, remembering Vicki,

Linda

Yesterday was the service for GEORGE DRYE.  George loved his church and often said kiddingly he would never leave it until he'd be carried out in a pine box.

WELL HE GOT HIS WISH !  The three in front are his sons.  the young 3 are grandsons and the last on right with beard is son in law.

Had a nice visit with Jack Keefe Monday evening at the funeral home viewing!

Back when I posted a holloween BOO picture, Boo herself said it was a mad or mean Boo and that she is a sweet BOO,  so when I saw this one at the check in counter at the hotel in Bloomington Monday, I had to take a picture to send it as a nicer and sweeter BOO !  I hope you approve "OUR BOO" !

In 8th or 9th grade, Yogi and Boo Boo Bear were a new cartoon  on tv.  Terri Baxter really got a kick out of Yogi saying, OK Boo Boo!

A little later many of us began refering to her as Boo or Boo Boo Baxter.  I'm not sure, but I think Nancy Prillaman might have been the first to call her Boo Boo.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Vicki's passing.  She was my first friend after moving to Bloomington when I was 5.  She, Diane, and here parents lived 1/2 block up the street on EAst Street.  Her mom used to make us Brown Sugar / butter / on white bread sandwiches when we played together.  While we never dated, she did often share quite a few teenage troubles with me.  We pretty much lost touch when she went to college in Champaign and especially when I went to Nam in '67.  We online chatted about getting together for coffee when Dorothy and I 1st moved to Chicago, but life seemed to get in the way of finalizing those plans.  That is truely my loss.

RIP, Vicki, you will be missed.

A nice day spent with Sharrie Peasley Orendorff, Pam Honstreiter Zweng, and Sue Peterson Koppenhoefer.  We ate at Keagan's Irsih Pub in Ottawa.  Then spent some time at Sue's lovely home in Seneca, Il. It was such a nice full filled day with friends

To all my inventive music lovers - I found this so facinating I played it twice. Enjoy.

Just 6 more days until HALLOWEEN!

Are you going to decorate, hand out candy, or keep your porch light off and not answer your door?

Fess UP!   What are you going to do this year?

I have bars with a screen on my door so I will NOT be opening the door.  I will sit out a large bowl of candy with a sign in English and in Spanish to 'take a handful of treats'.

Here's hoping everyone has a good time on Halloween.

Linda

Linda, I haven't turn my porch lights on in many years. When the boys were younger, I held out the bowl for the kids who came to the door to take some candy and they scooped it all up and ran.   So that was the end of our trick or treating with kids..That was in the 70s.

I have my yearly eye appointment that day.  When I used to work, some of the Doctor's kids would come to the clinic and do reverse trick or treating.  They would give US candy..

Thought for the day--a quote from Corrie Tenboom.  Is your prayer life like a steering wheel --a guiding force, or like the spare tire, used only in an emergency?  Corrie Tenboom was a holocaust survivor, author and sppeaker.

Great to see some postings !

Dave:  Agree with your post ... followed Corrie TenBooms writings and speaking for many years ... such wisdom that lady possessed! so true what you quoated!

Linda :  No candy at our house !  For the entire 19 years here never were home to pass out candy!  Most years we're running around to at least 3 of our sons neighborhoods to go trick or treating with the various groups of grandkids !  I could never get them to go together in one place.  They were usually kind enough to give me my favorites as we walked from house to house since I claimed I needed some energy to make it back home !  This year will be in Nashville trick or treating on " Music Alley "

Mel & Jack :  Are you guys making some crafts too?  Maybe you could tempt folks to purchase a book by including a delicious baked good from Janet's kitchen bakery !  Watch Out so Mel doesn't eat them all !

Just a short addition to Mel's post, which just about says it all. This a huge craft show, and the gift-giving season is approaching. BHS is transformed into a veritable shopping mall that day, with vendor tables in the cafeteria, auditorium and several hallways. If you see the whole show, then you'll have had the tour that we didn't schedule for the reunion. So everyone is invited. Free parking, free admission.
