Fantastic news Suzi! Everyone have a great Easter.

Linda Bristow (Elias)

After Easter has its perks.

When we were younger, many of us vigorously boiled and colored eggs then perhaps added some colorful plastic eggs with candy to their Easter Egg Hunts for their children.

Afterward, we used up the extra real eggs by making egg salad or potato salad.

Today, many  older people only get plastic eggs and stuff them with candy.  I know they can't make Candy Salad so I suppose...........someone may be munching on that extra candy!

Since Summer is on its way, we need to shed pounds for those bikinis girls!

Think I'll look at the drapery much like Scarlet O'Hara did!

Notice the 2022 Mini-Reunion Schedule is now posted at the top of the Home Page. I apologize for the late notice but I have had a lot on my plate lately and it has been more challenging than usual to find an acceptable venue for our May event. After consideration and evaluation of numerous locations by several Planning Committee members Kegler's Pub seemed to be our best option. Hopefully we will continue last year's better than usual participation. Let's make this year even better.

Monday May 16, 2022 6:00pm

Kegler's Pub at Pheasant Lanes

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

It has been way too quiet around here lately. Not that anyone cares, but I will be taking an Amtrak train to Bloomington tomorrow and spend a few days at Marv's. The whole reason for it is to be at the mini-reunion on Monday. My fingers are crossed that a bunch of you will also be there. I rarely miss these events and hope that those who can, will also be there. I could name names, but that isn't fair. Just know that every one of you BHS alumni matter and we remember you. We are, in our own small way, family. Anyone who is in the vicinity will be amazed at how much love there is among us. See you on Monday. And yes Diane Gardner, I haven't forgotten that I owe you a birthday drink. With much love, Mel

You might check with Diane Gardner.  She just had back surgery last Tuesday.

Love ya, Linda

Allida Frisch (Altemus)

Mel, Jim and I would love to see you on Monday but we will be getting back from Florida that day. I hope we can connect at the next mini reunion.

Diane Gardner I hope your back surgery was a success and you are recovering well.

A few more Sardonic Senior Pearls of Wisdom!

 I’ve learned that pleasing everyone is impossible but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years,
trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with
the Taliban.

I’m responsible for what I say, not what you understand.

Common sense is like deodorant. The people who need it the most never use it.

My tolerance for idiots is extremely low these days. I used to have some immunity built up, but obviously there's a new strain out there.

It’s not my age that bothers me; it’s the side effects.

I’m not saying I’m old and worn out, but I make sure I’m nowhere near the curb on trash day.

As I watch this generation try and rewrite our history, I'm sure of one thing: It will be misspelled and have no punctuation.

Me, sobbing: "I can't see you anymore. . . . I'm not going to let you
hurt me again."
My Trainer: "It was one sit-up.”

As I’ve gotten older, people think I’ve become lazy. The truth is
I’m just being more energy efficient.

I haven't gotten anything done today. I've been in the Produce
Department trying to open this stupid plastic bag.

Turns out that being a "senior" is mostly just googling how to do stuff.

I want to be 18 again and ruin my life differently. I have new ideas.

God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all
corners of the world. Then he made the earth round. . . and laughed and laughed and laughed.

I'm on two diets. I wasn't getting enough food on one.

I put my scale in the bathroom corner and that's where the little liar will stay until it apologizes.

My mind is like an internet browser. At least 19 open tabs, 3 of them
are frozen, and I have no clue where the music is coming from.

Hard to believe I once had a phone attached to a wall, and when it rang, I picked it up without knowing who was calling.

Apparently RSVPing to a wedding invitation "Maybe next time" isn't the correct response.

She says I keep pushing her buttons. If that were true, I would have found mute by now.

So you’ve been eating hot dogs and McNuggets all your life, but you
won’t take the vaccine because you don’t know what’s in it. Are you kidding me?

Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.

There is no such thing as a grouchy old person. The truth is that once you get old, you stop being polite and start being honest

Gary Schad

I'm looking for any information on Judy Rohde (Alvey). She graduated in 1965. Last known address was Washington, Illinois. I was told that she went to an assisted living facility. Tried to contact her children but to no avail. So if anyone has any information on where she might be it would be appreciated

Some additional musings:

When You Were Born Matters

Born 1925 – 1955

The best years to be born in the history of Earth & we got to experience it all. Thank God for all the times, the adventures, wars won, technology developed. Future Generations  will never experience what we did. What a generation we turned out to be.

To Those of Us Born
1925 - 1955:

At the end of this email is a quote of the month by Jay Leno.

If you don't read anything else, Please read what he said.
~~~~~~~~~
TO ALL THE
KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE
1930’s, 40’s and 50’s !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who may have smoked and/or drank - While they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then, after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs Covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets, and, when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps,
not helmets non our heads.
As infants and children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.
Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And we weren't overweight.
WHY? Because we were always outside playing...that's why!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day and, we were OKAY.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and
then ride them down the hill, Only to find out that we forgot about brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not
Have Play Stations, Nintendo and X-boxes. There were No video games, No 150 channels on cable, No video movies Or DVDs,
No surround-sound or CDs, No cell phones, No personal computers,
No Internet and No chat rooms.
WE HAD FRIENDS And we went Outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and lost teeth,
And there were No lawsuits from those accidents.
We would get Spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping-pong paddles, or just a bare hand, and no one would call child services to report abuse.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt,
and the worms did Not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, 22 rifles for our 12th, rode horses, made up games with sticks and tennis balls, and although we were told it would happen - we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes
or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team.
Those who didn't had to learn to deal with Disappointment.
Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law
was unheard of ...They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers,
problem solvers, and inventors ever.
The past 60 to 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
If you are one of those bornbetween 1925 &1955, CONGRATULATIONS!
You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids before the lawyers  and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house
with scissors, doesn't it ?
~~~~~~~
The quote of the month
by Jay Leno:

"With hurricanes, tornadoes,
fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of Coronavirus, terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"
