Joan Pease (Clark)

Steve Norton was my brother John's best friend before distance overcame friendship and we moved to California in 1962. John met up with him in the early '80s during a visit home, and I also went to his restaurant when I visited. Am I remembering correctly that it was called the Locomotive or was near train tracks or the like?

Since we were all teenagers when we moved, that's how I remember these names - with the spirit of youth. Bless them all.

Joan, you have a good memory. Steve Norton's restaurant was The Caboose, and for several years it was a watering hole for the Class of '64. He didn't join in the fun while we were there, but would chat with us if we approached him at the end of the bar. He usually sat there, where he had a good view of the cash register. I imagine that kept some employees honest. The Caboose was on West Seminary Street, just a half block east of the GM&O railroad yard.

As to Denny, we had known each other since the first grade at Washington School. Later in life, it was Denny who scooped me up off the pavement and gave my my start in real estate. That was 1994. I was out of a job and Denny convinced me to come and work for him. At that time, Mike Eddings was in charge of training the new agents at Century 21 Alexander Realty. So whatever successes I had in my first five years, and arguably beyond that, I owe to these lost classmates. Mike was a good man to learn from, and Denny was a good man to work for.

Allida's right. We are losing classmates too fast and still too young. Everyone do what you need to do to stay well and safe. And don't forget to hug your loved ones.

The obituary for Denny Alexander is now posted in the In Memory section. Steve Norton's has not been located.

It breaks my heart every time we loose a classmate! Some I knew very well, others perhaps not. We are all CLASSMATES! We also belong to the "Greatest Generation", that America ever produced!  I'm proud of that! We served our country. We raised the next generation of Americans. We have taught future generations. We picked up the tourch that our parents gave to us and have carried it with honor!

Forgive me.for my errors. I DO have Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary!  ( I'm too lazy to use it) and my eyes are starting to remind me of my age!

Suzi--about your lost/stolen ring--you could probably check with a reliable jeweler (especially one that represents Josten products.  You may also check with BHS, as to who they currenly use.  I had a friend who lost his class ring years before--and was able to replace it directly from the jewelry manufacturer.  The date did not matter, because apparently there are not many people  making class rings, and the date is relatively easy to adjust.  Good Luck

Marv,

Please tell thank you but mine had black onyx with mother of pearl.  Maybe one of the guys has that ring.  I know when we ordered them Jerry and I ordered the same ring.

Suzi, I don't know if this will help, but this was my class ring. It is black onyx with mother-of-pearl. One noticable differnce from Boo's is that her's has her initials on it. Good luck in replacing yours, if that is your goal.

Thought some of you might enjoy this.

ADVICE FROM AN OLD HILLBILLY:

Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.

Keep skunks, bankers, and politicians at a distance.

Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.

Words that soak into your ears are whispered, not yelled.

The best sermons are lived, not preached.

If you don't take the time to do it right, you'll find the time to do it twice.

Don't corner something that is meaner than you.

It don’t take a very big person to carry a grudge.

You cannot unsay a cruel word.

Every path has a few puddles.

Don't be bangin’ your shin on a stool that's not in the way.

Borrowing trouble from the future doesn't deplete the supply.

Most of the stuff people worry about ain’t never gonna happen anyway.

Don’t judge folks by their relatives.

Silence is sometimes the best answer.

Don‘t interfere with somethin’ that ain’t botherin' you none.

Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.

Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

The biggest troublemaker you’ll ever have to deal with watches you from the

Good judgment comes from experience, and most of that comes from bad judgment.

Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in.

If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody

else’s dog around.

Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

Most times, it just gets down to common sense.

It is definitely spring in the midwest--cold and rainy one day, then hot and steamy the next--then just for fun the threat of snow flurries ont] the third.   Have a safe and Happy Easter!!  Celebrate and love your family.

Linda, year hasn't been great medically speaking.  I'm lucky because our kids are close by.  David Jr. is getting out of the army this year after thirty years.  His son is also in the army.
My granddaughter is married and she's a nurse at Carle care hospital.  Her sisters both work at Walmart.  My son Jeff is now single so if any of you have a daughter who's single, over fifty but not older than fifty eight let me know.  Jeff has a good job at unit 5.

I'm getting ready to go get some test done.  Checking to see if the cancer has come back.
I could use some prayers.

Love all you Raiders

Suz
