For those who were close to Sue Ehrmantraut and her husband Mike, I am sad to tell you that Mike had a heart attack while in Florida yesterday and did not survive. Due to Sue's strong past involvement with our Class activities, Mike had become a close friend to many in our class.

Marvin:

Where are Sue and Mike's children?  Do they still live in Bloomington?  Will Mike be brought to Bloomington?

Thank you for letting us know.

Love ya, Linda

I survived!  I survived the prep work for the upcoming surgery.  My surgery has been pushed back again as there is no room in the hospital.  All the beds are being taken by COVID patients.  Emergency room patients are often wainting in makeshift quarters.  When I was in for my testing, I was told that there was only 1 bed open in the hospital and that was due to the patient passing away.  It's gone from being an outpatient procedure to spending at least one night in the hospital.  Besides cleaning out the debris around my spinal cord, they are going to shave part of vertabrae to create a larger channel for the nerves.

I know that's probably too much info.  Anyway, new surgery date is February 11.  2 days before the Super Bowl in which the Chiefs may be playing - we'll know the answer to that tomorrow afternoon.

Best to all.

I was just informed of the loss of another of our classmates. I am sorry to report that Jerry Dehart passed away Jan 28. His obituary is posted in the In Memory section of the website.

Sandra Jeakins (Singletary Sizemore)

Thanks, Marvin, for posting about Jerry Dehart's death.   So sorry to hear about that.  He was a cousin to the Singletary's.  His Mom and Nell Singletary were sisters.  I never saw anything in the paper about his death.

I thought a lot of Pat Rosenbaum this week. She died 2/2/18.

56 years ago, March 15, 1966, alomost 30 of our classmates and friends were inducted into military service.

I found a list of those called to duty on that date that was posted in the Pantagraph 56 years ago.

I'm sure that you will rcognize the names of those from BHS '64, and from the other intercity/county, schools.

I'd like to post the list here, but it may excede the space allowed for this forum.

I think that since Marvin is the site administrator he should give his permission or let me know if this is do able?

The list includeds many close friends, some of which are no longer with us.

Anyone that would like to offer an opinion is welcome to chime in or express their thoughts to Marvin.

It was a COLD Tuesday morning that day in March! It was also a LONG trip to Chicago, on the old GM&O!

We didn't see home again until May, of that year. After a brief visit, we were deployed to our duty stations and further training.

Hi Mike Franks!

So glad you brought this up.  Not having that experience myself, I don't know what all you went through.  But, I do have a question for you.

I have heard people discuss joining up and leaving.  They all mention some good times and some terrible experiences.  Did you have any good times with your enlistment?  Where all were you sent to at that time?  I appreciate your service to us and your country.  God Bless all of the Veterans!  I am happy to see you remember some of those times and make mention of it on our website!

It is nice to see you on the site again.

Blessings to you!

Linda

Thanks Linda

I'll work on getting that list on our site. It was something that my mother kept years ago and I'd like to share it with our classmates.

Marvin does an excellent job, so I'm sure he will help. BTW, while in VietNam, I ran into Marvin!

Is that crazy, or what? Two Bloomington boys, meet half way around the world!

Mike:

That had to be a big surprise for you and Marvin!

It is amazing what encounters can be experienced when you are in the middle of something else!

Richard (Dick) Briggs

Sorry I missed the train ride.  I was into my 1.5 months of USMC boot camp at San Diego.

Health update:  Fully recovered and no weight lifting restrictions.  But, I did have someone plow all the snow we had last week.  Hmmm, I could get use to that service.

Dick

Dave Long-- If my calendar is correct, your rescheduled surgery is later tbis week.  Best wishes.  I will say a special prayer for you through the next several days.

Dick Briggs--Good to hear your rehab is finished--without complications.  I hired out the snow plowing last week also--we ended up with about 8 inches of snow plus another half inch or so of sleet/ice under it.  Thrill a minute for a few days.

Until I posted this, I had pretty much forgotten the experience.

One thing that I will never foget, is that when that old TWA, "went wheels up",..... We were on our way back to the "world!'!    Flying East, with RVN behind us!  (BTW, that was a LONG airplane ride!)
