I wanted to do Gulf Shores this winter or spring but it didn't happen. We might wait til fall to do any travelling.  Love the fall colors. It's my favorite time of the year.

When Malinda finishes this round of chemo...probably June barring unforseen delays, we may take a trip just to get away for a bit.... whereever she wants to go..

The Remington is a fine pistol and I've heard for years that it was stronger than the Colt, but I have never heard of a Colt coming apart and it was the most popular pistol during the Civil War on both sides.  I also like the 51 Navy in .36.  The 45 ACP shotshells are definitely not for autoloading but they are very effective.  The 45 long Colt alleviates the autoloading problem.  It will definitely take care of any snake problem you might encounter.  The Judge in 410/.45 in my opinion is just awkward and overpriced.  Now if you really want to be a traditionalist, load that 58 Remington with shot.

All you gun people...wow!

My mom would never let my brothers and I have bb guns or sling shots or bow and arrows or anything sharp.  She was the charge nurse for the Gailey Eye Clinic surgical department at Mennonite Hospital and I don't remember a Thanksgiving or Christmas that she didn't get called to work sometime during the day for someone getting shot or poked in the eye until after she retired in the 70's.  So needless to say there were no guns in our house!

Went to see Sue last Friday afternoon.  She is progressing but it's going slowly!  They are now giving her a pain pill before her rehab visits to take the edge off the the right knee that's so painful for her now.  She also had a cortisone shot in her left shoulder so that has helped quite a  bit.  We had a nice visit and just about the time we were getting ready to leave and get a bite to eat there was a tornado warning so they wouldn't let us leave.  We all spent an hour and 30 minutes in the hallway with all the residents.  It was a very interesting evening.  We laughed, told jokes and had fun...whatelse could we do?  Sue can still make me laugh!!  Keep the prayers coming as she is still very much in need!!!!

I passed all your good wishes and "hellos" to Sue and she was excited to know that so many people are on the forum now.  She can hardly wait to be able to get on her computer again.  She told me to tell everyone she said "hi".

What is with this spring weather...mowed the lawn today and thought I'd freeze to death!  Hopefully we'll get some warm weather soon!  Have a great Easter everyone!

Judy

Thanks for the good news about Sue.  Maybe when she gets home, she will recouperate faster?  Do they think she will be able to come home by the end of this month or will it be longer?  I bet you did have quite a time in the hallway with the residents.

Judy, thanks so much for keeping us posted regarding Sue!  She IS in our prayers to recover sooner rather than later!  Sounds like the hallway laughter helped pass the time, but what a way to spend your time and get to know one another.  Tell Sue, I've saved her messages to remind me that she has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to visiting with all of us on-line!

I believe we have found Joyce Smith Scott in Arizona. Keep an eye on the missing classmates list. We have it down to 11 right now. If you know anything about anyone on that list, please let me know. A father or mother's names. Addresses where they lived while in school. Brothers or sisters names. Grade schools they attended. Some small clues make a big difference.

Looks like I'm going to lose another friend in short order, this time to (lymph node) cancer.  A very colorful guy named Rocco.  So colorful that I had thought about bringing him down to Bloomington for one of the reunions, just for the show.

Just got back from the Home where he was put a month ago, saw him last night also...not good but still feisty., and today they put him in hospice.  The rate of the deterioration has been incredible...noticeable from day to day.

Jack,

I am so sorry. We are losing our friends way too soon and too frequently. I have lost several lifelong friends and certainly understand your feelings..

We are at the age where we lose our parents and now we lose our friends. Our own mortality is staring us in the face. Let's hope we have 35 years left. :)

Amen to having 35 years left UNLESS we beat the odds?  We're getting a new roof with a 30 year warranty.  Wonder which of us will go first!  Better get our Wills in order!

Well it doesn't hurt to wish but the extra milage would make all of us 100. We have all lost very close friends over the years both old and young. Elizabeth Stein died at 99. One of my aunts made it to 103. There is no crystal ball but I like what Dolly Parton said when asked, "What do you want people to say about you a hundred years from now?"

Her answer, "My, she looks really good for her age." Just a thought for the optimists.

Time is relative.  Rocco just wanted 2 more years at the pool.

ya know........I think have done the job I was put on this earth for.... so to me  what is left is just the icing on the cake.  But I too have lost both parents a lot of friends. Many of them way to young.

I am finally getting to the part of my life where I am not stressed. If I don't make a sale tomorrow, I can still eat. If one of my salesmen don't make a sale, I can still eat. Now what I do is because I choose to do it. This is the life we worked our entire lives to enjoy. Time to do just that. When the clock strikes, I will be smiling. :)

General Jackson (Stonewall to you yankees) said that he was as safe in battle as in bed as God had fixed both the hour and nature of his death. He had a few other ideosyncries but that is another story... In any event, when it is our time, it is our time. That is not fatalism, but rather reality IMHO!
