Following is a photo of the 'Peanut Mobile'.  We saw it earlier this year in Alabama.  They were on tour promoting Planters snack products.  We never saw jump  any construction sites or bridges.  Like some other adverrising characters--It really exists.

A quick spelling error  many of us make:

The correct spelling of school is not school - too many people are putting the second o in front of the first o.
You're welcome.

You are correct!  I misread that!

Loved those pictures Sue.  Has anyone seen signs of autumn?  We are starting to have some leaf colors.

Wendy ... no signs of fall yet ...BUT as every year prior our huge oak never drops all its leaves during winter .... but now are all the remaining are dropping ... many in our pool ... lots of skimming work ... I feel like a "pool boy" !

Sure sign of fall--although sometimes we don't associate it--Spiders building more webs around the hoiuse porch, in bushes, etc.  ou can knock them down, and they will be back in a shorft while. There are plenty in our yard and around the house.

Today is National Dog Day according to all the dog posts on Facebook.  This is one of our grand puppies.  Morris Peabody is a 7 year old rescue who makes his home with daughter Lisa in Nashville.  The picture was taken the day he graduated from physical therapy resulting from back surgery.

This is my 13 yrs old Dachshund, Maggie.

Sue, your Granddog is cute.  Is he a wire-haired Dachshund?   This is my Granddog that belongs to my oldest son and his family.  Chip is a 2 yr old HavaMalt..

Oh yes the spiders are busy this time of year.  If I am going into the yard I have a stick in front of me.  Don't like them in my hair, etc.

Sandy, Maggie looks like she would be a great companion.  Yes, Morris is a wire haired Dachshund and has an older sister (12 year old) Chloe who was also a rescue.

Shiner Bock, our Pappillon, coming into adolescence about the time Janet and I got married in 2013. He still has most of his zip. The ears can make Papillons desirable as a pet, but beware of their high-strung disposition!

As some may know I am not particularly fond of dogs. With that said your dog pictures are very nice and I am very happy for those of you that love your dogs. My daughter has four of the critters and thinks this one is the most adorable. It mystifies me but I suspect some of you will agree with her much to my lack of understanding. Does this make me a bad person sad? Can you imagine what he would look like if he had a hangover?

SUE ...the more I look at that picture your son took with all the boulders on the trail with the brown dog in the picture ... the more  I love it!  I would consider framing that one!

MARV .... absolutely agree with your sentiments ....  I don't dislike dogs, enjoy our "grand dogs" especially since they don't live in my home!  The pics  below (assuming they post) are us passing an Amish buggy on way to our Anniversary (54) dinner today and an adorable pouch in the gift shop of our favorite Amish restaurant.  After having some 10-11 dogs during our years of raising 4 boys this calm and quiet Golden is my kind of dog!  At only $149 he is much more reasonably priced than a thoroughbred live Golden.  He is quiet, no barking, doesn't poop all over the yard... no need of a pooper scooper and no torpedos to risk stepping in while mowing the lawn! He would sit calmly and quietly by the fireplace on a cold winter night and NO shedding.  I could continue to sleep in as no need to let the dog out in the early AM.  Not to mention the many dollars save in dog food, Dr's visits and licenses over the years.  And lastly no tearful separation when at an old age he won't have to be put down!  THATS my kind of dog.  I might just go back tomorrow and buy him!   ALSO I agree with you on your daughters dog mug shot.... not adorable !

Hi everyone!

My little town, here in West Texas, is about to go over the 20,000 mark of cases of COVID by tonight.

The good news is that I get to go back to work for 2 mornings per week beginning next week.   I love having a purpose to achieve on a daily basis.  We will continue that schedule until the Governor says otherwise, I'm sure.  Our time at work will increase if everything goes smoothly.  We will wear masks to work.  Since I am at high-risk, I will also have gloves and a face shield.

I work on a grant at the University that prepares students for college.  I only have 5 more years until this grant is over.  Then I'll find something else to do.  I find that I am at my best by keeping busy.

My youngest brother retired last November at age 80.  I am bound and determined that I will work to an older age than any of my 8 siblings.   We will see how that works out!   I also intend to out-live them all!  Now you all know what a brat I actually am!

My memory is still quite good and I have begun writing a book about my family.  I am calling it '9th Child, 6th Daughter'.  As I have memories pop up in my mind, I am jotting them down.  So far, I have the history before I was born, completed. Am also keeping our family geneology.   We'll see how the rest goes too!  I know that my time in school will include a lot of you all!

Hoping that everyone is healthy, happy, safe, and Blessed!

Love to all, Linda

David:

I remember reading an article about Phantom pain.  I don't know how effective it really is, but this wife tried many different remedies for her soldier husband.  She wrote that magnets inside a light weight cloth, at the point of amputation, seemed to be the most effective.  I hope it works for you too!

Good luck!

Linda

Jim - Exactly. Maybe that is the problem! I don't like to be trained. I really like the dog you are thinking about getting. He is adorable. I think you should go ahead and bring him home and call him Raider.

Dave - Happy Friday back to you! It is a beautiful day in central Illinois. I only have today and tomorrow left to get out on the lake before my big day Monday. I plan to get some time in the lake with while I still can. The water might be getting a little chilly by the time I recover from my surgery. Gotta squeeze all the fun I can in the next two days.

Linda's long term plan shows how tough we Raiders are. It seems we all strive to make the most of our lives with lots of drive and grit. To me Dave L. is a prime example of that. Never give up or give in. Hope Linda achieves her goal of out working and out living her siblings and that we are all here to help her celebrate.

Since it FREE FOR ALL FRIDAY I decided to share a photo booth picture I recently came across that I had not seen in many years of me with my son Brent in about 1970. Sometimes it is hard to realize how young we once were. Pictures like this are fun reminders that we have not always been this old. He is now 51. Hard to make sense out of how fast all of those years have flown by but at the same time to recall all the amazing things that happened in those years.
