COVID ADVICE

Everyone PLEASE be careful because people are going crazy
from being locked down at  home!
I was just talking about this with the microwave and the toaster while
drinking my morning coffee, and we all agreed that things are getting bad!
I didn't mention any of this to the washing machine, because she puts
a different spin on EVERYTHING!
Certainly couldn't share it with the fridge, cause he's been acting
cold and distant lately!
In the end, the iron straightened me out!  She said the situation isn't all
that pressing and all the wrinkles will soon get ironed out!
The vacuum, however, was very unsympathetic .... telling me to just
suck it up buttercup!
But the fan was VERY optimistic and gave me hope that it will all
blow over soon! (Must be a Trump FAN !)
The toilet looked a bit flushed but didn't say anything when I asked its
opinion, but the front door said I was becoming unhinged and the
doorknob told me to get a grip!!!
You can just about guess what the curtains told me: they said to
"Pull Myself Together"
WE WILL SURVIVE ! ! !

Since Jane Wettaw has been featured in our forum lately -- on the free-for-all Friday I offer this clipping about her dad. Dr. Wettaw was just returning to Bloomington. The clipping is from the Pantagraph on May 6, 1946.

And to Jim -- congratulations on your half-million dollar day. I know how it feels, but it almost never happened to me.

Judith (Judy) Winquist (Neal)

I had some good news for yesterday, but it took me a day to figure out how to post this. (Below is the announcement that Orthopedic and Sports Enhancement Center put on their FB page.) I am so happy to have Tyler and his family here to stay! My daughter, Felicia, her husband, just bought a home in TX. Now I will have them and their two children moving from CA to TX. That will cut off a lot of miles when we travel to see each other. Luckily, Mike, the oldest of my children, alreadly lives in Illinois! This is the best news I've had in a long time!

Orthopedic and Sports Enhancement Center is excited to announce the arrival of Dr. Tyler Neal! He will be joining our practice in late August 2020. Watch for further updates to schedule your appointment!

Dr. Tyler Neal was born and raised in Bloomington, IL. He is a Bloomington High School and Illinois Wesleyan University graduate. While at IWU, he played wide receiver for the football team and was a three-year letter winner. He also participated in Track and Field where he earned two letters, set multiple school records, and was selected MVP his senior year. Dr. Neal received a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. He attended medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Bradenton, FL campus. At LECOM he was elected and served all four years as Class President. He was also selected into the Sigma Sigma Phi honors and service fraternity and was presented with the LECOM Leadership and Service Award after his fourth year.

Dr. Neal completed his orthopedic surgery residency training at St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, MO. His residency included orthopedic trauma training and pediatric orthopedics at SSM St. Louis University Hospital and SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

After residency, Dr. Neal went on to pursue additional training in orthopedic sports medicine at the prestigious San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. There, he had the privilege to train under the former head team physicians for the San Diego Chargers and the San Diego Padres. While in San Diego, he worked as a team physician for San Diego State University, the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League, as well as several local community colleges and high schools.

Dr. Neal has a special interest in arthroscopic, sports, and shoulder surgery. His fellowship provided him advanced training in sports medicine and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, as well as complex shoulder repair, reconstruction, and replacement.

Dr. Neal and his wife Sarah, also a Bloomington native, are honored to return home to the community that helped raise them. In his free time, Dr. Neal enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, working out, playing golf and watching sports.

CONGRATULATIONS JUDY!!! The GOOD NEWS just keeps coming.

Boo, it may not be perfect, but if your surgery gets you back to golf and swimming, that would be GREAT NEWS!!!

Liz, maybe you're right about that. I guess it's time Marv and I started acting our age. NOT!!! Anytime people ask me, "Where did you grow up?" my stock answer is, "I didn't, but I was raised in Bloomington, IL."

For FREE FOR ALL FRIDAY, a photo an artist friend took last week in my building's garden. Winnie Godfrey's specialty is large scale paintings of flowers. This giant hibiscus is truly amazing. Not so the guy behind the mask. If you want to see more of her fabulous work, the link is: https://www.godfreyart.com/flowerThumbs.php

Allida Frisch (Altemus)

I check in everyday. Love hearing about how everyone is doing and seeing all the pictures and stories.

Mel, I am very impressed with your swimming. I wish I had the get up and go to do something like that. Maybe if I ever quit working I would have the get up and go. But in all honesty probably not.

Terri, sorry your surgery didn’t result in straight toes but hopefully you are pain free.

Marv, good luck on your hip replacement surgery! May you be able to walk without pain. Hip replacement surgery is much easier than knee replacement and recovery much quicker.                                                           Judy, great news on Tyler moving back to Bloomington and it will be great to have Felicity and her family closer.

Jim, loved your Covid story. Congratulations on your home sales.

Everyone take care and stay safe!

for silly saturday - in 1982 my son, alex, climbed up insode the frig and then couldn't figure out how to get back down.  of course i ran for the camera instead of helping him.

it seems like everyone has gotten so bored they're paying great attention to the 'bugs' in the backyard.  here's my little friend i've been watching.  have no idea what they're called but they chew off a little hunk of leaf and paste it onto their body (and no it's not a bagworm)

I've enjoyed reading some things on here that I've read on Facebook.  Here's my contribution. I thought it was cute.  I hope you all enjoy it, too.

Sandy, fabulous. I don't think there is a line in there that didn't resonate. Wondering who Uncle Joe is at the end? Couldn't be a reference to Biden. Or could it? Whatever, really liked the way it was put together. What else you got? Love to the Raiders64 crew. We have so much to celebrate.

I forgot to tell Julie Hart how much I loved her photo and caption about her son in the refrigerator. It was hysterical. I bet all of us have had such a moment. Mine was with my son when he painted himself with his mother's lipstick and nail polish. So many good memories.

Boo:  So glad to hear that you're walking!

Jim and Marv:  Good luck with those hip surgeries........I'm out here saying prayers for you both!

Everyone:  I wish nothing but Blessings, happiness, and good health as we 'patiently' wait this COVID out.

Please be safe!

Marvin--Good luck with your hip replacement.  It is always better to have 'planned' surgery.  My mother fell in her late 60's and ended up with 'emergenvcy' hip surgery.  Things went well enough, but it sure messed up the calendar (it happened during Holiday season).

James (Jim) Rookus

LINDA .... thanks for prayers ... can always use them but I think you miss read my post ... I Am NOT having hip surgery ...Only MARV is !

JULIE ... your pic of refrigerator son is the pic of the month !!!

Glad Jim got that hip replacement thing cleared up. I started thinking we might be rehab roommates.

Judy's birthday will be when I am at the rehab center and I will not be able to deliver a birthday present. So, I needed to plan ahead which is not that common for me. I completed construction of a fire pit in her back yard this morning for her birthday present. Trying to get all the mileage I can out this hip before trading it in. Now she can have smores anytime she wants. She will be able to enjoy fires with three of her grandkids that recently arrived in Bloomington to stay.

Terry (Max) Maxwell

Marv...

I'm going to have a discussion with Mel and suggest we abandon the tree removal business and start a hardscape/landscape business as soon as you get done with your rehab and physical therapy.  Seems that you have quite the eye 👁 for this type of work.  With your bad hip and my bad back we can give Mel more exercise now that he can swim miles per day.  This would help get him in shape for the Senior Olympics!  What do you think, good idea?  Lol!   ...~Max~...

I missed out on posting when the topic was related to nature.  My son Mark takes beautiful pictures and sends them to me on his travels.  This one was taken about a month ago of the Texas Bluebonnets.

He sent me this one from somewhere near Colorado Springs.

This last one was taken a few weeks ago too near Colorado Springs.  In this night sky picture Mark said the blue dot in the lower left is his tent.

Sue...

The night sky pic is awesome!

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Max, I couldn't agree more, Sue's son's night photo is a wow. Based on Marv's recent stone work at his place and Judy's, I think you're right, we should forget the tree cutting business and go into landscaping. Not everyone will understand this, but it is enough that you do. Glad you are still in the partnership. We will prevail. LOL

Great job MARV ... Judy is fortunate to have a friend like you!

SUE those photos are amazing .... I really love the center one, those rocks are so interestingly shapes and as they narrow to the path leading the eye upward to the beautiful clouds rally beautiful scene!

Following is a photo of the 'Peanut Mobile'.  We saw it earlier this year in Alabama.  They were on tour promoting Planters snack products.  We never saw jump  any construction sites or bridges.  Like some other adverrising characters--It really exists.
