Welcome to the fun Jack! Wow, does this class know how to be happy!!! Skiing at Sun Valley, relaxing by your own private koi pond, Russian countryside, lakefront bike rides, enjoying beautiful music - Rocky Mountain High, and I Will Always Love You, treasured time with your wonderful grandchildren. There are soooo many places to be happy. These are all great.

Max thanks for the ARCHITECTURE suggestion. It is really hard to limit this one.

It looks like Dave's IN-LAWS suggestion is tomorrows theme.

Wendy - Since you have been such a consistant participant I thiought you might like to suggest a theme. What theme would you suggest for Thursday?

yes that one building is in Federation Square in Melbourne.

Yikes!  Well, here are a few suggestions, so I hope someone will pick one...

Skylines, weather (snow storms, tornados, etc) pets,

One other to add to architecture:  It's a pretty old structure, but is still standing.....

Max hit the jackpot today with ARCHITECTURE. So many amazing places. I especially liked Steve's Chalet. Local, historic and frugal. Wonder how many days he booked the place for? My understanding is that in the days they were using those huts, McLean County was crawling with rattle snakes and timber wolves.

Wendy, any of those subjects sound good for Thursday. My vote is for WEATHER.

I have no idea what to do for tomorrow's IN-LAW theme. I've been single for 25 years, but will no doubt come up with something satirical.

If no one objects, may I suggest Friday's challenge: FUNNY ME? Photo(s) of yourself in a humorous, awkward or embarrassing moment, costume or place as an adult (not as a child, but childish is OK). Explanatory captions are encouraged.

A few more suggestions for the future, ...statues, especially unexpected ones....native costume, either on you or seen for real on someone.

guys, would you be interested in sharing pictures of cars you love or loved?

Being a tree nut, I like to see pictures of unusual ones.

Hate to hear that about Tony Roma's. We will need to plan a new location for our Dec 5, 2020 Mini-Reunion. I can't help but wonder what other places will go under by the time this shutdown is over. Thanks for the heads-up Suzi.

Great pictures day today. Loved the contrast between history, modern, beautiful and prehistoric. I was in awe of the atrium staircase Max posted until Steve blew it away with his Neanderthal abode. Architecture sure covers a lot of territory.

Theme for Wednesday is Dave's In-Laws suggestion and Weather for Thursday as suggested by Wendy and seconded by Mel. FYI, In-Laws is going to be a little compromised - I am thinking more like Out-Laws since I have no In-Laws. I have a great family Out-Law pic in mind with a story behind it.

This is my Sister in law, Connie Singletary Golden and I taking a horse and buggy ride thru Central Park.  We took a 2 week trip in 1975.  The 1st week was in New York and the 2nd week was in Virginia and DC to see Bob Singletary.  The picture of Bob was in 1974.

Since Connie and Bob are deceased, I thought I'd include Garth's picture taken in 1970.  We still say we are in laws. This was taken at my house, right before we put up paneling.  Can't believe my wall was that dirty. That didn't show in the picture, but it sure does on here.    haha

After 40 years of marriage (I know to many of you I'm still a rookie at being wed) the kids threw us a party to which everyone came.  The photographer got them to goof off, which wasn't hard to do.

Oldest to youngest - left to right - Jeanette, RN; Dorothy, MSW; John, Consultant; Terri, MSN; Jackie, V.P. @ a Major Health System; Aileen, Personnel Director; and the baby Jamie, DO.  They used to love, and still do, torment me.  Since I am an only child, it was a huge adjustment to go to family gatherings.

Can you see a ghost image in the background?  I photo bombed the picture.

Here is the Whole Clan.

Christmas is HUGE with this group.  Christmas Eve is spent at Jackie's with about 25 or so getting together after Mass.  Christmas Day is spent at Jamie's with about 42 - 45 all gathered together.  The White Elephant exchange lasts for HOURS.  It's worth the 11 hour drive.

Left to right - Erin, Our Favorite Oldest Daughter and Chloe, Our Favorite Youngest Daughter.  They put the party together, set everything up and got all the In-laws there.

I don’t have any photos of my in-laws but how about one of Barney... he’s “in law”?!

I only have two living in-laws.  Daughter in law and brother in law.  Without dipping down a generation to husbands and wives of niece and nephews.  Not going there.  So first is Nicole, who is an interior designer, shown with my grandson Patrick.  I don't have a good solo picture of Nicole.  Then my brother in law John, a professor emeritus of economics at University of Rochester.  That is my older sister Carol.  She was Class of 1962.

I don't do in-laws very well. But in keeping with Wendy's suggestion of weather, here's this blizzard shot taken out my living room window in my single days. The lights in the background are on Towanda Avenue.

... and a cloud formation from 2010 in Springfield. It looked like an approaching wall cloud, predicting a tornado to follow. But it missed us and we didn't even have rain.

This whole thing is an impressive show of class talent and eyes for good shots. Thanks to all for sharing their photos.

Thanks Max for your encouragement. My in-law history is sparse, so I was trying to do something funny but came up empty. My son-in-law is all I have.

Derek and my daughter had 3 goals when they married. The first was going to China to see pandas.

Second was a baby. This is Derek apple picking with my granddaughter Dalia.

Third was buying a house, which they did 2 years ago. Check list complete.

Sandy - I really enjoyed seeing the pics of Bob and Garth. Dave great looking famoily with tremendous combination of accomplishments. Max - Your Barney-in-law was geat fun, always loved him. Wendy's in-laws look like very happy people to be associated with. Mel - As usual Dalia steals the show while trying to focus on Derek who is a great son-in-law. Jack got a head start on tomorrows theme - gives us a preview of what to expect tomorrow. Great stuff everybody.

As for my in-law photos, my initial mind set was on being married which made me not think of having in-laws. I later realized that category goes to my kids and brothers spouses. I have three total, two of which are pictured below. After that I will include the out-law picture I promised.

My son-in-law Richard has his own business inspecting and repairing industrial backflow systems and takes awsome care of my daughter and two of my granddaughters.

My daughter-in-law Samantha, the one behind the plate at our shrimp boil, married my son Brent last April in an on the spot proposal and wedding at the close of a weekend celebrating Brent's 50th birthday in New Hampshire. She is a full of life, very spirited and cheerful personality that has her hands full matching Brent's high spirited, masterful personality. Also in the photo are Brent's daughter, Ashley, now a senior at the U of NH, his son Ray, in the blue shirt, in CAD training for a military weapon sight manufacturer, along with Samantha's daugher and a friend on the right and me between Ashley and Brent.

I just found another pic of Samantha to share

That stormy sky Jack posted is nervous making for sure.  And the shrimp boil looked like a lot of fun, Marv.

Max, I loved Barney in law.  Made me laugh.  Marvin, I was in the same mind set with my in laws.  I do have 2 Daughter in laws, but didn't think of them.  And we even have a good relationship.  But I don't have many pictures of them. I think I'll work on that.    But since everybody knows Connie, Bob and Garth, I thought they would get a kick out of seeing the younger pictures of them.  Especially of Bob since he had blond hair in school.  I was shocked when he came home for a visit and had red hair.  Although, his older Sister, Sandy Lee always had red hair.  That looks like a very scary sky, Jack.  Glad it didn't amount to much and just blew over.

Now for the Out-Laws. Mel and I had three great-uncles that were members of what became known as the Helton Gang near Summitville Indiana from 1918 to 1921 when they were caught. They and nine others were arrested for stealing chickens and hogs from farmers in two counties. The Summitville and Alexandria Horse Thief Detectives Association joined forces to make the arrest. Two of our great-uncles, Ray and Frank, were sentenced to three months in a penal farm and Ed, as the gang leader, was sentenced to two years. The photo from the 1930's is of Ed on the left and Ray on the right with their sister Louise in the center. They looked like the Bonnie and Clyde gang. Mel and I spent a lot of time with Ray and Frank as we grew up never knowing about this. Wish we could have talked to them about it to get a firsthand account of their experience.
