I've never done this before, but:

I lost my Mother-in-Law to Brain Cancer

I lost my Son-in-Law's father to Brain Cancer

And most recently I lost one of my close friends - Tim Elliot - to Brain Cancer

Now our friend Jim Pierce is struggling with this terrible disease.

Although I'm not able to participate (I don't want to be pushed the 5K in a wheelchair), I support Team Elliot as I've done for years in their efforts to raise funds for research for a cure.

If you are interested in donating and becoming part of my team, here's the link:

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks.

I have a rubbing from the moving wall that I made of Bill Buff’s name when Sue and I went to see the wall back in 2006 or 2007. I also have the booklet that was given out at the time if the committee wants to use them at the reunion let me know.

I recently found out that my ex-brother-in-law Larry Alcorn has died. There will be no visitation or service for him. There will be a celebration of life later. He was a really good guy & I just wanted to let the class know.

So sorry to hear about your loss Patti. Love and hugs.

Larry Alcorn that Patti referred to above was our classmate. His obituary will be posted in the In Memory section once it is available. Also, it has now been confirmed that Judy Dreese-Feezor passed away in 2017. Notice had not been posted since we did not have confirmation that she was our Judy Dreese. Her obituary is now posted in the In Memory section. These losses are painful to watch and my sympathy goes out to their families and friends.

Judy who?

David Long:  It is 15 miles from my home.   Our whole town pitches in to help.  We are not big on needing outside aid.

Thanks for asking.

Love to all,

Linda

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Thank you to all for the birthday wishes. Got to spend the 73rd with Marv, followed by our 71st annual family reunion at Miller Park. Just got home and wanted to let everyone know how special it is to be one of you. On the way to Bloomington we stopped in Lexington to see Jim Pierce. I wish I could give you good news, but he is not in good shape. But we held hands for an hour and his grip is powerful. I'll withhold the details other than to say that he is not giving up and can smile at the smallest things. His wife Deb is his rock and she is doing all she can.

Beyond that, I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the 55th Class of 64 Reunion the weekend after next.

Go Raiders and love to all,

Mel

I want to join Mel in thanking everyone for the birthday wishes. We had a fun day in Chicago.

I just received a message from Deb Pierce. Hospice has taken Jim off of all meds and put him on liquid morphine. He is no longer responding to anyone. Very sad news.

I’m so sorry to hear about Jim.  I’ll say a prayer 🙏🏻 for him.  I also will pray he doesn’t suffer.  He was a good committee member!

Prayers for Jim and his family.

ONCE A RAIDER

ALWAYS A RAIDER!!!

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Jim Pierce at 12:50 am this morning. Deb asked that the class be notified. His two sons from Florida were able to get there about midnight last night and were with him at the end. Deb said it was as if he waited for them. She said Jim never once complained about his condition. He seemed to bravely accept it without fear or anger. Funeral arrangements will be in Lexington. Details will be posted once they are available.

REST IN PEACE JIM!

So very sorry to hear about Jim Pierce. So glad that his family was with him at the end. He definitely was a great person and very involved with the class of 64. He will be greatly missed.
