Mary Selk, who just turned 98, is planning a concert for former A Cappella or anyone else who wishes to join us on  Saturday October 5, 2019. Time is still being scheduled. There will be rehearsals on Thursday October 3rd and Friday October 4th in the evenings. Again exact times are still being arranged. Of course John "Jack" Waddell will be singing with us. David, I remember that flight out of RVN and back to the world! The whole aircraft went wild. We were out of that gosh foresaken place. The real bummer was, when I got back to B/N, everything had changed. People in the world, had no idea what it was. It took a long time for me to become acclimated into society. Round eyed girls sure looked great!

Mike,

Had an interestng experience upon return.  Spit upon an called a baby killer in SFO.  Probably didn't help that I was carrying a the ChiCom SKS I brought back with me.  Got up to the ticket counter and there was this long haired blonde in really tight jeans ahead of me.  I was excited to be back until 'she' turned around and had a big Foo Manchu moustache.  Had to really admire the Branaff flight attendents that had to handle all the Marines coming back home.

"Roger That, David!" When we arrived in San Fran, we went from the plane to a waiting bus. Then to some Army place, where we were allowed to take the best shower I'd had in a year. We didn't mingle with any civilians. I think the best part was, San Francisco didn't STINK. RVN was like a huge latrine.

I later enrolled at ISU. There were a lot veterans there and we stuck pretty close to each other since we had that common bond, but life had changed and we were not like the other students.

I think of the men and women that serve today. I know what they are going through.

It is with sadness that I have just learned of the loss of another of our classmates, Edra Sharene Morse passed away Jan 27, 2015 in Bellingham, WA. Her 55th reunion invitation was returned with a comment that caused me to do an internet search on her and I found her obituary. Feel free to share a comment in the In Memory section if you wish.

Hi all!

Question:

My little granddaughter, age 15, about 5'3" and 115 pnds, was body-slammed by a 6 ft., 200 lb. boy at school.  She was hurt.  He told her if she told anyone that he would hurt her.

I have had my daughter and her husband to contact the police and press charges.  She is afraid to return to school and only has 5 days left of this semester.  She doesn't even know him, but knows who he is.

I feel that we must stand up for the kids and deal with the situation.  Later when she has a child, she would know what to do.   It is not ok for kids to be harmed at school.

Private School is next!
