Hope this finds everyone doing great with the beginning of summer.  This is when I try to hibernate to try to avoid the heat of the day...103 today.    I am so grateful for refrigeration!  I must remember that for Thanksgiving Day when we all have to take turns saying what we are grateful for...........

Blessings to the class!

Linda

You are so right Linda.  We just left Odessa Texas heading to Fort Worth and while in Odessa we saw up to 107 degrees. Cannot imagine not having A/C.  Happy Summer everyone! Safe Travels too!

After surviving one of the longest, coldest winters in recent history, I promised that I would never gripe about the heat again. Here in B/N, we are experiencing a drought these days, but we're warm!  Shorts, T-shirts, and lots on out-door activity. Best of all, NO snow/ice to remove. I know it gets hot in W.Tx., NM, AZ  and CA. (Vegas too.) Best wishes to our classmates in that area!

........AND a big whooptee-do and Happy Birthday to all of the June babies!

Shaffer: 107 is tough travelling.  Please be careful to carry a lot of water.

Franks: I understand when you have a harsh winter to deal with and then summer and drought come on afterward, and that too needs to be survived.

Surfice this to say that we are surviving on planet Earth.  Our creature comforts usually protect us.  Can you imagine what it would be like to have to exist without those creature comforts?   Now, look at people on the streets!

We are soooooo fortunate!  Thank God!

Have a great weekend, you all!

Love, Linda

Not as hot as West Texas, but pretty warm in Kansas.

Linda, thanks for always being so positive. It is extremely important for us to surround ourselves with people that bring us up. We can't bring ourselves up, alone. Maybe that is part of loving one another? Don't stop. A sincere gesture means everything. We can't fake a smile.

Was 98* when we left home last week.  In the Yukon Territory now and was 36* this AM when we jumped on a train through White Pass.  Quite refreshing!  Awesome scenery everywhere. Warms up to high 40s and 50s during the day... which is great when it’s not raining.

Maxwell:

Boy do I understand!  You're getting to 'chill out' while in the lower 48 we're having cooking heat!  Enjoy!

It was 35 in Northwest Reno.

Ray:  Was that a desert morning, I assume?  Also, high in the mountains?

Linda

We're not that high about 5,800 feet. Just typical high desert, lows in the 40's and high's in the low 90's. It takes three different outfits to get through the day.

Ray:

I'm at 3,400 feet.  We still get the mountain effects of orographic lift, and some protection from the winds on the other side.   Often, we would experience rain in my front yard but not in the back yard.

What I enjpy about the desert is the cool mornings to allow us to get things done early in the day before the heat of the day arrives.  But during June and July that cool morning is challenged.  We're supposed to have 105 today.  I'm just glad  that Summer only comes around once a year.

Have a great day!

Linda

You guys really rough it.  I, myself, sat on our porch an watched my wife refinish the patio furniture.  What a life.

Dave:

I was just thinking...........while you're sitting on that porch, I know how you can make some big bucks!

Make bets with people that you can put your foot behind your head.  All you have to do is take it off and place it!  You've won the bet!  You would be fun at a party!  My bet would be on you!

Hope you're having fun on that porch!  Cheers to your sweet wife for refurbishing that furniture!

Have a great day!

Linda

I saw in the paper today that Linda Thorpe passed away.   She died in May in California.  If I could download her obituary I would.

Linda, It is supposed to be 96 today with 14 percent humidity. Needless to say there is no "dew" in the mornings.

Ray:

We must be experiencing the same stuff.  Except our humidity is 6 %.  This morning is hotter than normal at 84, so I know some heat is on the way.
