Guys: You're all correct!
We all age at different rates, slightly! Some are more active mentally and physically. Without notice, we all have our DUE DATEs as we age. We lost some of our friends and classmates in their teens, 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's...........and welcome to the 70's!!!!
With all of our experiences that humans go through in life, it is a wonder that anyone lives to old age.......but here we are!!!! If life is a gift, I'm going to enjoy it!
I work all of the puzzles in my morning paper every day, exercise for 30-40 minutes early morning and after work, am still inquisitive and often interact with friends by recapitulating something I found humorous. However, I also experience friends who are retired and stay in their home like hermits, just waiting to die. I choose to live until I die instead of waiting for the moment to arrive.
I believe that actively interacting with others is so important for all human beings and very healthy.
But, I'm wondering how limited conversational interaction will affect future generations that are always on their phone. Will abbreviations over-run decent spelling or grammar?
We see people in line to pay at the grocery store, bank, pharmacy, etc., getting bored and doing something on their phone to occupy their time of boredom. Some are so rude that when they shop, they are on the phone talking out loud and can sometimes become 'noise pollution'. They don't ask what they need to pick up and get off of the phone, but, they tell where they are and that they are bored so they decided to call their respondent.
Our generation learned what to do when we were bored. But, we also learned how to handle ourselves in public by being aware of others.. I find it very sad when I see someone of our age, reverting to 'what's hip today', in order to feel like they fit in. I found that they can be just as rude as others on their darn phones!
Okay..........off of my soap box!
