Are we that old, that all of our beautiful female classmates could be known as "COUGAR'S" ?  So where does that put our males? Except for Ed, of course!  That guy is a stud!

Does anyone have the recipe for "Love Potion # 9" ?   Perhaps Mel can check that out?

04/07/17 11:07 PM #5934

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Mike, you are so wise. I got it and here it is:

LOVE POTION #9
To be performed on the 9th day of the 9th month.

9 oz. sweet red wine
9 basil leaves
9 red rose petals
9 cloves
9 apple seeds
9 drops vanilla extract
9 drops strawberry juice
9 drops apple juice
1 ginseng root, cut into 9 equal pieces

By the light of 9 pink votive candles, put these nine ingredients into a medium saucepan on the ninth hour of the ninth day of the ninth month of the year.

Stir the potion nine times with a wooden spoon, each time reciting the following:

LET THE ONE WHO DRINKS THIS WINE
SHOWER ME WITH LOVE DIVINE.
SWEET LOVE POTION NUMBER NINE
MAKE HIS/HER LOVE FOREVER MINE.

And you are so right about Ed. He's in a category all his own.

Did anyone help Suzi change her photo?

Thanks Mel. I knew that I could count on you.

It'll take me until September to gather those ingredients. I wonder if they're explosive?

Suzi, to change your profile photo you must be signed in to Raiders64. Click on Edit Profile under Member Functions on menu to the left. The next window will show a box called "Master Photo". Drag your cursor over that box and click on "Select Photo" option. On the next window click "Upload a new photo" and choose an image from your computer. When it is loaded it will appear in your Raiders64 library. Highlight the image and click to open it. From there you can crop it using the guides provided, click "Apply", then "Save". When you see your "Master Photo" the new image should be there and will show up in your posts until the next time you change or delete it. That should do it. Otherwise, open a bottle of wine and give me a call.

I just updated my photo to make sure it worked. Go Hawks!!! The Stanley Cup was at Lucca Grill last year.

No Mike, not unless you add 9 drops of nitro into the pot before stirring.

Hi everyone!

I went to visit with a bunch of old friends and colleagues on Saturday.   One of the things those crazy women said was that people with the most unusual noses have the best sex life.( Such as Cyrano De Bergerac).

I said that I didn't know about that.  We need to find people with the most unusual noses and ask them.  So....start thinking of people, whom we know, with unusual noses.....and start asking and reporting!

Love to ya all!

Linda

So, when women get together they talk about sex? Who is? With whom? Is he good?(or bad) Men NEVER do that!.... Well, almost NEVER....... OK, once in a while.......Alright! All of the time!

Who can resist a good cuddle? Thanks Linda. I thought it was just me.

04/12/17 09:00 AM #5941

Linda Bristow (Elias)

Mike:

No.....as a rule women do not discuss sex when they get together.  At least, not around me.

Cyrano De Bergerac had a might unusual probuscus for a nose!  (If you remember the story)

So........dish on unusual noses!  (at least this is a different topic from what is normally on our site)

Linda

Suzi:

This is such a good brownie recipe.  Try it!

Linda

Brownies

5 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate

3 sticks of unsalted butter

2 1/2 cups sugar

5 large eggs (beaten)

2 1/2 tsp. vanilla

1 1/4 cups of flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup choped peans or walnuts

powdered sugar

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Line a 13 by 9 inch baking pan with foil.  Grease the foil.

Melt the chocolate and the butter in a large saucepan over very low heat.   Remove from the heat and let cool for 10 minutes.

Stire in the sugar and mix well.   Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and add the vanilla.   Whick the flour and  baking powder together and stin in; fold in the pecans.

Scrape into the prepared pans and bake 30 minutes or until the brownies slightly pull away from the edges of the pan and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few fudgey crumbs.  Dust with powdered sugar and cut in small squares when thoroughly cool.

My gosh, that brownie recipe sounds almost sinful! Just the thought of eating those damn things would add an inch to a waist line. (I'd love them.) Yes, I'm well aware of Cyrano DeBergerac. That was one of those "required reading" pieces of drivel that one needed, to pass English Lit 101 at ISU, 50 years ago. (when I could eat a lot of those delicious brownies) I hate getting old. When we were young, we were SO bullet proof.

Linda, the brownies sound awesome but I'm going to try to  lose some weight.  Dave has to lose some for his surgery and I really need to lose a lot.

On a sadder note Dave Nafzigers daughter passed away Tuesday.  Condolences and prayers to the family.  🙏🏻🙏🏻

If I missed anyones birthday I'm sorry.  We got home last night from St. Louis.  Dave had another doctors appointment.

We go back down to St. Louis next week to see his heart ❤️ doctor!

Suzi, glad to see you got your photo up. I take it that isn't the Bloomington Jumer's since they don't allow gambling there. I'm thinking of changing my photo again for fear of what "some people" may be saying about my nose. LOL

Mel, thank you for the instructions.  Dave was able to get it to work on our computer.  We couldn't get it on the IPad.

Yes you are right this pic is from the quad cities.

I haven't kept up on the site as much as I would like, but the last month has been a little hectic.

Anyway, thanks for the Birthday wish Suzi, as you keep up on that very regularly.  And Max, you also.

For anyone who may be wondering, I'm doing very well on this oral chemo drug.  I have completed 200 consecutive days now, with at least another 110 to 120 to go.  For those who have had chemo, it has the usual side affects.  But, I have lost 25lbs. and that's a good thing.  But, not the diet I would recommend for anyone.  Ha!  I know we have other classmates who are going thru this journey.  I hope and pray they are doing well.

Suzi.  I have noticed that you and your Husband have endured so much these past few years.  I can relate to what you have been going through.  It can be a very physical, mental, and financial strain.  I really hope life gets better in the near future so you can enjoy the activities and people that make you happy.  Now as far as those CUBS.  You keep the terror alive with those Cardinal fans.  I'm right there with you.  I have a lot of relatives who are Bird fans.  Guess what?  I keep them constantly informed of how well we are doing and how much they suck right now.  After all, we ARE still the World Champions at least until the end of this season.

Dave (Long).  It's wonderful to see you're doing well.  I just knew you would come out of this situation with a great attitude.

Ed, it's great to see that you are moving on with your life.  I'm happy for you.  Maybe this new lady can help ease the pain and give you comfort over that Alabama loss a few months ago.  Ha! Ha!  Actually, I was stunned myself.

Linda.  I always enjoy your posts.  You come up with some pretty funny stuff.  However.  About that pathetic, ugly dog baseball team you have there in El Paso.  They did really, really well last year and their off to a good start this year.  Get out there and support them.  Also, that Hockey team you have out there that you didn't like the name of.  They have actually been there for some time and they also are pretty good.  Check them out too.  Take the Grand Kids and expose them to some sporting events like that.

Jack.  I'm not sure you could pass for Doug, but actually maybe Ditka himself.  By the way.  That picture with the guitar player.  Does that not look a bit like our classmate Robert Bloomquist?  Look at it close.  Also, you mention Ralph Emery.  Is that the same guy who had the Country Show on T.V.?

Whoops.  I gotta go for now.  But, I'll get back on here sooner next time.

Rod

Rod, good to hear that you have the majority of your chemo journey behind you and seem to be doing well.  I could use the 25 lbs. loss, but the diet doesn’t sound good.

You might be on to something with Bob Bloomquist as the guitar player.  I swear, when I first looked at the picture, I kept thinking he looked like somebody from my past life.  Bob’s older brother?

Let me also take this time to apologize for calling the guy in the picture Ralph Emery.  His real name was Jim Emery, or, if you want to get real-real, Vincenzo Ammerati.  Ralph was his son, more from our time.    Ralph went into the same line of work but never reached dad’s status, so anything is possible.  It’s possible that David Holt managed a pro hockey team, that I look like Ditka or that Ralph is Jane Emery’s uncle.  So, it’s also entirely possible that Ralph had a Country Show on TV  in order to make ends meet.

The guy sitting between Capone and Emery was “machine-gun” (forgot his name), an Irishman who ran Cicero for Capone.  The other gentlemen made a pretty good living because the government told people they couldn’t drink and they then reinvested that money in nearby Calumet City, where they insured that visitors had an entertaining and memorable experience.

Stay on course.

Rod, so glad you're getting better.  Keep us posted on your progress.

May the 8th to the 12th we will be in Laughlin, Nv.  We're  meeting my nephew Tom and his wife Ginny. We're all 71 so it will be four old farts walking and gambling and having fun.

The weather is a lot better than a few weeks ago.

I hope everyone has a very happy Easter.  🐇🐇🐇

Suzi:

Picked up my plane ticket today.  I'm coming in  Aug. 9 and leaving Aug. 12.  Hope to see y'all at the mini reunion.

I've been doing the exercises for my leg every morning and every day after work.  I have already dropped 35 lbs!  I'm doing those darn exercises but I don't have to like them!

See ya soon!

Love, Linda

After all these years, I understand why men get married. Women invented the fitted sheet! There is NO WAY that a man could ever fold one of those things. I honestly believe that it's easier to fly the space shuttle.

You girls are SO sly..........
