Michael (Mike) Franks

Marv and Mel, Thanks for sharing. I'm extremely happy for both of you. I am blessed to have identical twin grand daughters. They will celebrate their 4th birthday this Saturday.

"Life is good", is not just a cli-ch'e. Life REALLY is!

Ray, you have a beautiful family. Thank you for sharing your happiness.

I sincerely hope that classmates continue to share family picures and memories. I think that sharing our life's history defines who we are. We have all experienced a long journey. It should be celebrated.

Challenge accepted.  This was taken this past Christmas  As you can see, we are all huge Cubs fans!  On the loveseat from left to right are our grandchildren:  Jake, Caroline, Chase, Brooks, and Henry.  Next row:  son, Ben, daughter, Lisa, daughter-in-law, Kate, son, Mark, daughter, Krista, son, Joel.  Up top:  me, daughter, Mēgan, and Steve.  Our son-in-law, Paul, is missing, from the photo because he was home recovering from knee surgery.  I hope others will share their family photos!

Linda Bristow (Elias)

Suzi:

We have  a lot of what most people call 'good weather'.   We're called the Sun City.  Tomorrow and Wednesday are supposed to be in 70's.  Thursday, back to 60's.

Last year I saw the hottest summer for the longest period of time ever.  With the desert cooling effect, our mornings can be 30-40 degrees cooler than the heat of the day.  Last summer I was shocked to see 70 at 5:30 am.  Little did I know that I  would see 80 at 5:30 in the morning in just a few weeks later.

I was ready to move to the North Pole and to tell Santa to move over!

How are you and Dave doing now?  I hope all is well!

Love ya, Linda

Ed Stanfield:  You said you were back on..........where are you?   The sight is quiet.

For the last 6 months my 'social occasions' have been funerals!   I suppose this comes with age.............?

I've got to hold more little parties with games, etc., and food!   I have the need to keep smelling the roses!

It seems that most of my friends here enjoy playing FARKLE.  (a dice game)

So we eat, play for 1 1/2 hours, then have dessert, then complete another 1 hour playing.

Here's hoping that you all have more than funerals in your life!

Love to all,

Linda

Hi Everyone,

First of all, thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers as I've gone through my current challenge.  I'm happy to say that I walked today, for the first time since January 20th when the leg was amputated above the knee.  I get my first prosthetic with the actual devices on March 3rd and start OP therapy on March 6th.  Things are definitely on the upswing.  We're anxious to get our passports renewed (they expire in July), and after a year of almost being homebound, I'm looking forward to traveling again. Will keep you posted on the progress.

All the best,

Dave

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Great to hear from you Dave. When you get the new passport to go with that new leg, I hope you put both of them to work. Where are you planning on going? Dream big and live large!!! Can't wait to find out where your next stop is.

Ed, echoes of Linda, we thought you were back to living in the digital world. Que pasa?

For those in the midwest, I sure hope you're enjoying this weather. I'm about to do a bike ride along Lake Michigan. Third time this week, IN FEBRUARY!!! Unbelievable. I'm still counting all the money I saved by not going to Florida with Marv and Judy. LOL

Rodney (Rod) Hayes

Wow, I thought I'd get back to this site before now.  I have an update on myself for those who may be interested.  But first.

Larry (Cotton), I'm sorry you have to take the journey that I have also experienced.  But, you have a wonderful attitude and that is 99% if the battle.  I wish you luck and let us know from time to time how things are going.

David (Long).  What can be said.  I tip my hat to you and give you all the Kudo's in the world.  Your decision had to be so difficult.  Your a very brave man.  I hope all the past pain will now be behind you and your recovery will go smoothly.  Keep us updated.

Milan.  I know a bit of what you're going through.  I hope your doing well and fighting the good fight.  I'm sure you are and hopefully your journey will soon be over

It was great seeing all the wonderful families.  I may try and put some pics on later.

LInda.  Well, It's been a very strange winter.  Here in Centrall/North Texas we've had no snow, no ice, and only 4 or 5 days below freezing. Since November or December we've had a couple days at 90, many days over 80 and lots of 70's.  All the trees and shrubs have bloomed and I have already mowed the lawn.  You gotta love it

Suzi and all the other Bear Fans.  The draft should be interesting.  Unfortunately, we need someone at almost every position.  As long as Jay Boy is gone.

Myself, I'm getting pretty excited about the Cub season coming up.

Well, now for my update for those who may be interested.  I pretty much have good news, bad news.  The bad news isn't really bad, except for myself.  Today is my 150 consecutive day taking the good ole oral chemo.  I'm getting close to hairless, Ha!.  But, I've lost over 20 lbs.  That's a good thing.  I had a Pet/ct scan a few weeks back.  The medicine I take is working very well and all the Drs. are very pleased.  However, I will be on the meds every day for six more months.  Bummer.  It's not that I mind taking them.  It's just that I'll have six more months of food and liquid having no taste.  All that said, I'm thrilled to still be on this side of the green.

Gotta go.  Things to do.  I'll try to get back sooner than I did this last time.  Besides, I have some questions for a few people.

Rod

ROD SO SORRY YOU ARE GOING THRU ALL THIS.  ON THE BRIGHT SIDE AS YOU HAD SAID YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GREEN.

YOUR ARE IN MY PRAYERS AND WE WILL ALL BE THINKING OF YOU.  🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I SURE HOPE THE BEARS CAN DO AS WELL AS THE CUBBIES DID LAST YEAR, AND THE CUBBIES DO A REPEAT!!

Allida Frisch (Altemus)

Linda, first of all I am doing well. Went back to work January 9 for two half days a week and then in February went to three days a week about 7 hours each day. That is down from my 10 hour days and I plan to keep it that way. I talked with Madelon several days ago and she is doing well. She said that she was very glad she had knee replacement surgery and she would do it again. Hope you are doing much better.

Suzi, I will root for those Cubbies after the Cardinals. Not sure how those Cards are going to do this year but I will root for them til the end.

Rod, even though you have to take the oral chemo drug for the next 6 months at least it seems to be working. So glad for you.

Milan I hope your treatment is working even though the side effects are awful. I think about you all the time.

David what a courageous decision you made and hope you will be up and running soon on your new leg.

Just think everyone only about 25 days until Spring. We have had beautiful weather in St. Louis this month until yesterday and now back to reality but still not bad upper 40's to 50's and 74 on Tuesday. Yeah!
