Michael (Mike) Franks

Thank you Marvin. At that particular time our circumstances were very different. That connection was very important to me, so that may explain my memories. I agree, that as we are reluctant members of a fraternity, we have an obligation to forever honor our comrades and to preserve memories of their sacrifice.

Marv, Thank you for posting that picture of Mrs. Holcomb.  She was my favorite teacher.  Tony Beich and I got into a lot of trouble acting silly in class.  I need to get up to Bloomington to pay her a visit.

Mrs. Holcomb looks so good!  How old is she?   Yes, she was my favorite too, Nancy!  So many memories when I look at the faces in the class!

Question for everyone:

If you could go back to the day after you graduated from high school, what would you do or become?  College, no college?  Military or not?  What would you aspire to do for your career?

I believe I would pursue becoming a funeral director.

Linda

I have heard from several that Del Swearingen made a mark on their lives. I have been in contact with his daughter Kathy and she would love to hear our Del stories. Feel free to write to her

Wow! Linda, I'm sure that you'll get a lot of hits on that post.

I'll be among one of the first.

I wouldn't change anything. It hasn't been perfect, but life has been very good to me.

I had some really good news today.  I don't have the BRCA gene.  Yeah!!!!!!!!!!  I still don't know when my surgery is but right now I feel a heavy weight has been lifted off of me.  God has answered more prayers.  I'm  hoping to talk to the doctor tomorrow.

My fourteen year old granddaughter asked my daughter the other day if she would get breast cancer.  I feel so bad that she has been worrying about this.

And now on a brighter note- the BEARS won!!!  Maybe there is hope!  Na. But I can dream!

I wish we had Ron Rivera as a coach.

Again thank you all for the prayers.

Suz

Linda,

I would follow the same path I took those many years ago.  Off to the U of I for a degree in Engineering and a career building bridges, roads, water mains, sewers, treatment plants etc.  God has been so good to me. Not that life does not have its problems, but I feel really blessed with how my life has turned out.

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Suzi, I'm very happy for you. This is wonderful news. It takes a brave person to stand out in front of such a problem and address it openly. You're a great inspiration!!!

Linda, I totally agree with George and Mike and am so glad to know they have no regrets for their decisions. From 8th grade in Diane Mamath's BJHS art classes, I never wanted to be anything but an artist. Although there have been many rough spots in the road, I've had a life I wouldn't trade for anything. I didn't know then that such a decision would carry me around the world, involve so many incredible people or push me to test the boundaries of my own limitations. Makes me sad for people whose primary goal is making money. The richness of art still sustains me and as I've so often said to others, "Artists never retire. They are driven by their passion not by their profession." I still dream of doing more.

Milan - Thanks for the Shattertones post.  I was not around to hear them and have heard so much about how good they were.  It was fun to get "a glimpse".  I believe that was Dave Gaston in the first set.  Who else was part of the group that we might have known from BHS?

Milan, thanks for sharing the video of the Shattertones.

I remember meeting Tim at the corner of Clinton and Locust sts and he would walk me part way home.  We never dated just friends.  He probably doesn't even remember this.  I loved going to the Consistory to the dances.  Anyone who knows me knew how much I loved to dance.  Anyway thanks again Milan for sharing.
