Milan...  Just wondering, on average, how many people show up at Shannon's for breakfast?  It's about a 4 hour drive for me, so probably won't be there very often.

Lately, we have been averaging 13 to 14. Hardly worth a 4 hour drive but if you are in the area anyway, a good way to spend a Wednesday morning. :)

I always forget about Shannon's on Wednesday morning.  I'll try to gather up some of the girls and show up one of these Wednesdays.  And Jack, since you are positive that is not Gloria Brown Bell, I'll take your word for it.  Sure looks like her to me though.

Gloria had a different hairdo and clothes.  Look at the name tag..a guest name tag...no picture on it.  The guy on the far left was also a guest.

If anyone from the Class of 1964 has a picture of you on the pony that traveled through town, please either send it to me or post it. We are collecting them. Thanks.

Someone had to remind me,

so I'm reminding you, too.
Don't laugh.... It is all true!

Perks of reaching 50

or being over 60
And
heading towards
70 or beyond!

1.Kidnappers are not very interested in you.

2.In a hostage situation,
you are likely to be released first.

3.No one expects you to run  --
anywhere.

4.People call at 9 PM (or 9 AM) and ask,
'Did I wake you?'

5.People no longer view you as a
hypochondriac.

6.There is nothing left to learn the hard way.

7.Things you buy now won't wear out.

8.You can eat supper at 4 PM.

9.You can live without sex but not your glasses.

10.You get into heated arguments
about pension plans.

11.You no longer think of speed limits
as a challenge.

12.You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.

13.You sing along with elevator music.

14.Your eyes won't get much worse.

15.Your investment in health insurance
is finally beginning to pay off.

16.Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.

17.Your secrets are safe with your friends
because they can't remember them either.

18.Your supply of brain cells is finally down to a manageable size.

19.You can't remember who sent you this list.

I think I need someone to remind me of almost everything I'm supposed to do. Except when it's time to go to Shannon's. (laugh)

Milan, I do have a picture of me on the pony!  I'll scan it and try to get it on the website or do I have to send it to Jack and he'll do it?

Milan Jackson

Thanks Cheryl. Just post it and I'll pick it up.

When did this pony go through town?   I came to Bloomington in 1955, and do not remember this?

The pony was in town when I was in the second grade so that would have been about 52 or 53! I am trying to find my pix.

My wife grew up in Southern Illinois and she had one taken down there on a similar pony if not the same one. That pony sure made the rounds. Thanks Cheryl and Jack.

I am thrilled to say that our readership is way up. When we started reviving the site, we had between 5 and 8 classmates visiting the site per day. The average would have been much closer to 5. We haven't been under 12 since January 26. This is beginning to be a fantastic site you all should be proud of. Let's keep it growing. You will find that more people would rather be readers than chatters but that is the nature of this kind of site. All are welcome for whatever reason you come in here. But think about this, the participaters are having more fun. :)

Gerald (Jerry) Plummer

I have to tell you guys (generic) I'm impressed with your memories and the pictures etc.  However, when the pony came through town, according to Victor,  I was in Orinda, California, swimming. Clearly I've spent too much time underwater.

This is all a fun read, however so please keep going.  Holly Rust and I are trying to get together here in the Bay Area so perhaps I'll be able to add some items later... should Holly allow it.

Jerry, that was back in the days that we had lots of traveling people coming through town trying to earn a living. The rag man. The knife sharpener. The lady who baked goods and peddled them around town. The McLean County Health Dept. would never let that happen today. We are so safe, we can't enjoy it. (laugh)

My middle name is Sidney and I hid that from everyone because I thought Sheriff Sid was so corny. Of course I watched him all of the time. (laugh)

We'll call you Deputy Sid, then.

Smile when you say that, Pardner. :)

Remember this as a summer job? :)

OMG - I detasseled one summer and it was horrible!  I itched until winter.  Good money though at the time.

Terry (Max) Maxwell

I remember detassling, also.  I worked for Funks with Terrie Troxel and his brother, Larry.  Can't remember any others on the crew, but there were no girls with us.  We did have a lot of fun though.
