Mary Newell was my best friend for years.  She was class of 1963 and had a brother David Newell. Their father was a gm&o railroad man not a minister.  i just found this board and have not read everything.  Getting slower in retirement and 65 this year.  I can't believe thisaging process

My folks belonged to the Corn Belt Boat Club.  The club had a boat show in the Miller Park Pavilion. Jim Shupe, Jim Roller, my sister Alyce and I, were the first people to water ski in the Boat Show on the lake.  I was in Jr. High when they had the boat show.  Mike Kaluf's Mother and Step Father were in that club also.

I think Mike Kaluf lives in, well, used to be Vegas and then he moved, maybe Florida?  He was up here last year or year before that.  I ran into someone else that knows him and they said they saw him.  We dated I think in the 80's but he drank way too much for me and I was the party girl!!!

Holly, that's very funny about Galina.  I am a klutz now, can't believe I was ever graceful.  It took us all this long to realize what a great time we grew up in.  Remember we would go trick or treating for a week and get all kinds of good stuff, homemade doughnuts, popcorn balls, etc. and now kids have to go to the mall and get packaged crap.  No one ever thought of locking a door or window and we would play outside until the street lights came on.  Kids can't do that now.  Sad.

We show Mike in Naples, Florida. (239) 707-4361

Does anyone want to call him and get him to join us? :)

I remember those Halloweens. I grew up a few blocks from Ewing Castle. As little kids, we were told ghost stories at night on neighbor's porches by the older kids. Many of them were about the Castle. Later it was a challenge to go trick-or-treating at the Castle. Scary then. But she was so nice to kids. She even let us play tennis on her tennis court. The only rules she had were no cussing and don't open any doors. That last one took us back to the stories. (laugh)

Suzi, you have to do like you did here. You have to open Classmate Profiles. Scroll down to the bottom where the list of visitors is. Find your name. Click on it and enter your profile info and you are in.

That was the life we never locked the doors unless we went out of town! I never had a house key, I was always some place I used to go to Ed Buis's and play his dad had a vacant lot where we would play ball!

Our front door was never locked. At times we would lock our screen door but that was only because of the wind. Neighbors wouldn't knock, they could just walk in to our home. It was a different time and our children and grandchildren have been robbed of such an innocent time.

An easy way to get on the '63 Web Site is to go to the Home Page, under "Class of '63 Web Site", and hit the orange lettered address.

I just put all three classes in my favorites and move back and forth easily. I use my favorites a lot.

We finally have pictures up from the 1994 Reunion, held the first night at Bombay Bicycle Club and the second night upstairs at Central Station.  A great reunion this was.  This area will be expanded as time permits.

As time permits? Are we running out of time? I'm old but.................. (laugh)

"Are we running out of time?"  Yes, Milan, and at this point, time is running faster than we are, it seems. :)

Jack, what an awesome job you did on the '94 reunion pictures!  Looking at those pictures makes me realize how many of us aren't here anymore.  That was the first reunion I had attended and by far in comparison, the best one ever.  I do think the picture of Phyllis and the caption said friend, is Gloria Jean Brown Bell?

02/15/11 05:52 PM #458

Jack Habich

Thanks, Cheryl.  You weren't at '84 at Lakeside, and I consider that the best, with '94 a close second.  I also thought about how many were no longer here.  No, that is not Gloria Brown with Phyllis, because I sat at that table for a while and was talking to Gloria etc...there were some guests there.

Every Wednesday morning, we have breakfast at Shannon's in Bloomington. It starts between 8 and 8:30 am. It is a mixture of 1963 and 1964 classmates. Some spouses come too. Join us. There is plenty of room. We usually take up most of the morning talking. Food is good too.
