I've been asked to help find missing classmates for your class. Right now I am concentrating on 4 classmates. These are 4 who I have info on but it's old.

Eliza Mae Rusk Taylor-Does anyone know who Mr. Taylor is that she married? I last know of her living in Clinton, MD. Any help would be appreciated.

Dixie Paul Dehart- I last knew of her living in El Paso, IL. I think at one time she lived in Washington and Pekin. Does anyone know of something more recent?

Carol Davison-I Believe she lived in Fort Meyers, FL. in 2000. Any help here?

This all gets confusing but it's part of the search.

As far as I can tell, we are mostly caught up with the "In Memory" section. Please take a look at it and let us know if you know anything about the bottom four classmates. Any clue at all could help. Who their parents were. Where they lived while in school. Who they married. Anything at all.

Juanita Jumper

Paul Murphy

Vicki Weatherly

Richard Wilson

Milan, Juanita Jumper came to Edwards school from Pontiac, I believe in the 6th grade.   I understand she married well, I think a prominent doctor, and lived in the Washington D. C. area.  She died in a car accident in the 1980's or early 1990's.  Always close with me and one of my favorite people during the school years.

Jack, this really helps. Do you know if she had a brother or sister? What street they lived on? What mom or dad did for a living?

Jack Habich

Juanita came to live with her grandmother. Her mother (a very attractive young woman) stayed in Pontiac.  I forgot what street she lived on, and never met or heard anything about siblings.  I'll try to get more info.

Do you think her grandmother was a Jumper? Do you know if Grandpa lived with them? This could narrow down things considerably.

Don't know if grandma was a Jumper or a Hopper, and never heard anything about grandpa...she just talked about her grandmother.

I'll check some old city directories and see how many Jumpers were in the Edwards School area. Thanks. It's a start.

OK, and I'll try to get more info on this end.

In the 1956 Bloomington City Directory, the only Jumper who lived in the Edwards area was a Clarence who lived in the 200 block of west Front St. Clarence died in 1959. But it could be that Clarence was ill for some time and maybe that's why Juanita came to town. Maybe to help Grandmother care for Grandpa. Just a hunch. Maybe those were Mom's parents and not Jumpers at all. It's a crap shoot but more than I've had to go on for months. Thanks for this.

She came to Bloomington in '57 for the 6th grade...I know this now because she wrote in my yearbook "every since the 6th grade".  You're right, it's a crap shoot.

I have 5 city directories at home and 55/56 is my newest one. I'll get to the library this week and try some more research. This is really a pretty good clue. Thanks.

Does anyone know who Steve Norton married? I guess he doesn't own the Caboose or the place in Lexington anymore?

11/24/10 07:48 PM #27

Jack Habich

Steve is not really missing...I know just where to find him.... in Bloomington.  Let's say he is not a foremost participant in class activities.  You should probably transfer him to the "not yet joined" section.

You got it, Jack. It's done.

Here is another classmate that I'm trying to find. Carol Davison Blakely. Believe it or not, there are not 100's of Carol Blakely's in this country who are 64 years old. Any hints on Carol? Who she married? How we know she is a Blakely? Who her parents were? Anything?

We are down to 28 missing classmates. Look at the list and please send me any info you have on any of them. You'd be surprised how a little information can help locate someone.

Just remembered that another classmate that died in 2010 was Randy Simmons.  He was acknowledged in Jack Keefe's newsletter, as I recall, but not here.  Thanks for noting.
