BLOOMINGTON — Barbara Anne Butler, 73, of Bloomington, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Saturday (May 18, 2019) at Aperion Care, Bloomington.

Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Sara Isbell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service. Private inurnment will be at Gilman Cemetery, Gilman. The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Barbara was born Dec. 28, 1945, in Chicago, the daughter of Marvin and Dorothy Ward Poe. She married John W. Butler Jr. on May 25, 1968. He preceded her death.

Surviving are one son, Brian Butler, Decatur; grandson, Mark A. Banaszak, Missouri; great-grandson, Waylon Banaszak, Missouri; sister, Carol Poe Palermo, Bloomington; sister-in-law, Norma (Paul) Miller, Bloomington; and her brother-in-law, Pastor David (Rita) Butler, Bloomington.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; fiance, Lloyd Fagerstrom; and a daughter, 1st Lt. Debra Banaszak.

Barb had attended Illinois State University, Normal. She had worked as a caterer at Lakeside Country Club and later worked at Head Start in Bloomington for several years. Family was special to her. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

I  met Barb in seventh grade at Washington junior high.   She was a very nice person too young to go.   R.I.P. Barb.
