Charles (Chuck) Massie

 

Charles L. Massie, 58, of 706 S. Vail St. Bloomington, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday (June 24, 2004) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
 
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. David W. Gaffron officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 635. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the memorial home.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Relay for Life, the American Cancer Association, or the National Kidney Foundation.
 
He was born April 19, 1946, at Bloomington, to Donald R. and Martha Elise Edgar Massie. He married Frances A. Blankenship on Nov. 3, 1973, at Coffeen. She survives.
 
Also surviving are three sons, Chad Alan Massie, Seattle, Wash.: Brian James Massie, Normal; and Keith James Massie, Bloomington; a sister Donna Schnittker, Normal: and a brother Donald R. Massie Jr, Burbank.
 
His parents preceded him in death.
 
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington and Bloomington Lodge 43 A.F. & A.M. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Viet Nam war.
 
Mr. Massie had worked for State Farm Insurance Cos. in Bloomington for 32 years before retiring in 2001.
 
He will be missed by family and friends.

Karen Sue (Suzi) Denton (Merritt)

I went to homecoming with Chuck one year.  I think it was our junior year.  Chuck was one of the nicest guys in our class.
