Jack,
Ya'll might be surprised about that Indian. If my grandsons live where they do now, they would go to High School at L. D. Bell. They are called the Blue Raiders, and guess what? An Indian is the Mascot. Oh , and Jack, it's too late to get my application in for Q-School. So, I'm checking out flights and hotel rates to Vegas next year for Jetton, Max, Myself, and You, just in case the class wants us to represent them out there.
Ed,
Here is the story behind the Phoenix. Mythology says there was a great bird of extravagant, beautiful plumage. As the story goes, the bird lived hundreds of years. Near the end of life, it would build a nest, of which would burn the bird and the nest to ashes. From the ashes a new, young bird, in it's original image would be born. Back in the late 1800's, Atlanta GA. took the Phoenix as it's official symbol, to represent it's rebirth from the ashes after it burned down during the Civil War.
