You know Dave, he may have said this, but his humor was so dry most of us would have missed it. 🙄

Welcome to the 1st day of Spring!

First day of spring in Chicago!

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Dave,

Yes to Spring in Chicago. I also woke up this morning to see that blanket of snow. It was beautiful. Not what one expects on March 20. But hang in there, the trees will be blooming in a week or so, and the leaves will be emerging shortly thereafter.

Is anyone else following March Madness? It is one of my favorite sporting events.

No snow in St. Louis, but a light frost.  Fosythia, Red Bud and Bradford Pear trees are blooming.  It won't be long, and we'll be out mowing.

IN WEST MICHIGAN at least NO SNOW .... But COLD ... WINDY... and SUNNY !

We spent day taking our grandson out for birthday shopping and dinner for his 13th birthday !

He chose a Chinese buffet...  first one I've been to since before covid !  ATE TOO MUCH ...  TWO of these plates plus soup and deserts !  I'll pay for it next time on the scale !

I'm in with a bracket in MM.  Major bets with the family, $3 entry fee.  My bracket is broken already!

03/21/25 03:50 PM #11503

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Dave, sorry your bracket is broken. You're lucky it only cost $3. This is the fifth year in a row I've been betting on the Men's and Women's games with a friend. We call it the Reese's Cup because the loser pays off with a bag of Reese's Peanutbutter Cups. I always get 3 bags just in case I lose both brackets. That way I'll still have one for myself. Problem is I won both tournaments last year and ended up with 5 bags. I'll let you know if I need any help eating them. It may help take your mind off bacon for awhile. : )

Last year's trophy...

Mel,

A truly wonderful trophy!  I am available to help scarf down a part of you prize!

To go along with that trophy, here's a thought for today......

And how are all you Raiders, today?  I'm now finished with Federal and moving on to Illinois State Taxes.  It's a relief having the bulk of the work done with 23 Days Left until filing deadline.

Just a thought, but have you checked on insurance rates lately?  We're switching auto insurance and saving about $700 annually.  If you haven't compared rates in a while, you may find it beneficial to do so.

Thought for today?

I'm going to keep trying until I at least get a chuckle from the class......

03/24/25 05:18 PM #11507

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Dave,

CHUCKLE!!

You have at least one. May I offer another?

03/25/25 02:01 AM #11508

James (Jim) Rookus

DAVE & MEL.....  You both hit the nail on the HEAD !!!

03/25/25 04:41 PM #11509

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Poor Dave. Only one "chuckle". That seems understandable given the current events we are enduring. Even so, it's nice to see that Jim R. hasn't lost his sense of humor. Sandy has often posted funny stuff on Raiders64. Maybe we need more of that. So, taking a page from Dave's playbook, anyone else have something to make us laugh?

Nice.

Just for Dave and others regarding thier inspirational cartoons of which I have many that I may share lin the future. Here is my version of a chuckle:

I love the "i'm no quitter" and the fiction vs non-fiction ones. Also Dave - Did we go to High School together? (Refer to post 11493 if you don't get it)

By the way, regarding limbo. There is a cool looking tree in Florida called Gumbo Limbo. No kidding! It has a copper colored smooth, peeling bark. It is usually tall enough that even I and Linda could "limbo" under it's branches, basically meaning we could walk under.

Alan Swartz ..... I'm so sorry to read about Carol's homegoing.  As I look at your class pictures you both look very familiar so I'm sure our paths crossed at times.  It seems as though I recall the two of you "going steady" in high school walking the halls together,  Carol with your class ring wrapped in fuzzy angora and you with a gleam in your eyes.  I trust you are uplifted with God's loving arms and feeling His presence daily as you adjust to life without your life partner! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

DAVE.... now that's my kind of guy ... he's got my kind of sense of humor ...  I'd hire him I'm a minute ... seems like he's got it all under control !!!
