Yeah Milan, that's what I'm talkin' about.

How did you post the YouTube video? Can you upload the Mary Selk piece that I referenced earlier?

Helen Nicolaysen (Thompson)

Melvin, I just watched Mary Selk's YouTube!  I copied then right clicked and pasted it into the  www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaD_xTN1bZU area.  It's GREAT!  Who's the lady playing with Ms. Selk? Do you know her?  She sure does look like Judy Winquist, ya think?  Also, thanks for sharing the Raiders Band!  That was really great!  Sure does bring back memories!

Helen, as the Little Leaguers used to say, GOOD EYE! That is indeed the one and only Judy Winquist Neal! She is easily coaxed into playing a few tunes. A total joy to hear.

Has anyone else noticed that all the guys seem to be developing BIG EARS as we get older? Might make up for loss of hearing. However, the women look just fine, an indication that there's nothing wrong with their hearing. Maybe the next reunion can offer a prize for the guy with the "Biggest Ears and Best Hearing".

For those wanting to load a youtube on here, this is how you can do it.

Click on Post Response just like you do to post any message. At the bottom of the response page is a button to add Youtube video. When you do, you will probably get a rejection from your computer at the top saying: If you trust this website, click here to allow scripted windows.

Click on the box that message is in and then you have to hit the Add Youtube Video button once more. Then just paste the URL from the Youtube you want to add. Then hit submit. This doesn't work 100% of the time but mostly does. Youtube is the only video type you can post on here.

Thanks Mel for alerting us to the YouTube videos and thanks Milan for making access easy for all of us.  And what an extra treat to have Judy in them, too!!  I hope I can be as young at heart and active as Miss Selk when I'm 90!!  What a hoot!!

As for keeping youthful looks, Judy Winquist Neal looks pretty youthful herself.  What's your secret Judy?

youtube has some really cool characters on it.  If you are a "car nut" check out Carroll Lane on Shorty's Garage.

Rock on Rocco. You touched someone's heart.

Wasn't there a Carroll Lane that went to BHS?  If so, could this be him?  His cars are really cool!  My husband, Tommy, told me he ran around with Carroll Lane and and Dave Wright.

Carroll Lane is a member of our Wednesday breakfast group. He graduated in 1963 and he is in the local car club. He has a couple of awesome cars. Carroll is Shorty. With his size, I don't get it. (laugh)

As many of you know, I am a volunteer at the McLean County History Museum in the old court house. Last night they had an appreciation gathering for the volunteers. There are 226 of us. Some work a few days per year, others work a few days per week. A shift is only 4 hours for most of us. I took Billie, my wife, to the party. She was surprised that I am one of the kids in that group. If you worry about your age, volunteer somewhere and see the average is much older than we are. As we left, Billie let me know that she realizes she isn't anywhere near ready to retire. Too young. (laugh)

Milan, did you robb the craddle?  How old is she?

04/28/11 09:43 AM #974

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

OMG...Helen, I can't believe the question you asked Milan. Do you have any idea how worthless his life would be if he actually answered? (laugh added for Helen)

You're welcome Milan, just trying to help. :)

I would like to think many of us are volunteering somewhere. Most of my life has been spent working with not-for-profit orgs and fundraisers. Volunteers are not only necessary to their survival but it is personally rewarding. Good for you for knowing both parts of giving. It would be fascinating to know what others are doing in that regard. Bet there are some great stories waiting to be told.

By the way, did you rob the cradle?

I was married for 3 years and it didn't work out. She was from the Class of 1965. I was divorced for 8 years. Then at 32 I married a girl who was 29. Hardly the cradle but Billie would love that compliment. (laugh)

In the mid '70's I lived in the country outside the small farming community of Farmersville, IL., Pop 500 !

The closest hospital or doctor was 25 miles away and I had 3 young boys. I became the first EMT in Farmersville, and sat on a board that secured a DOT grant to acquire an ambulance. I became th first captain of the Farmersville/Waggoner,  Volunteer Ambulance service, served as the captain for 3 years, and served as a volunteer EMT for a total of 6 years until we moved away. In addition I was a Heart Association CPR instructor and taught literally hundreds of people the techniques of CPR. While I never had a CPR save, and I have preformed CPR about 2 dozen times, I taught 2 people who had saves. One saved his dad.

That ambulance seervice is still going strong today, using many of the procedures we developed back in those days.

Later on, I was my sons' scoutmaster and ran the first aid tent at the scout camp.

I "almost" married a girl from between Morrisonville and Farmersville in the mid 70's.
