I see that this website is running low on comments.  I suppose you are all getting the shopping accomplished for Thanksgiving dinner.  Please be safe for your holiday!

Blessings to you all!

Linda

I D E A ! ! !   How about .....   Since the website has been a bit quiet lately.... and Linda is cooking a small feast just for herself and I suspect many of us will be alone without family... lets post pictures of our Thanksgiving Table and share one special thing we are thankful for this year!

Linda, that's quite a feast you are cooking for Thanksgiving.  I usually have my Son's and their families which usually amounts to about 16 people.  This year, my oldest Son's wife's Mom died in the Spring so they are staying home and cooking for her Dad and the rest of her family, since her Mom isn't there to do it.  My youngest Son will be here with his wife.  All the Grandkids are doing their own thing, since we aren't suppose to gather in big crowds.  I'm around my youngest Son, since he lives behind me so I feel comfortable being with them.

In response to Jim's idea:   When I have everybody, I set the dining room table with pretty Thanksgiving plates, tablecloth and napkins.  But this year, since it's just the 3 of us, we are sitting at the kitchen table, using the regular dishes that are just cream colored.  A turkey breast and pumpkin pie will be on the menu.  Just not as many sides as usual.  I will be putting turkey candle holders on the table that have been put on the Thanksgiving table since I was a kid.  They hold taper candles.  That's tradition that I will have to keep going, even this year.   This picture is from 2019.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  I pray everybody can make the most of this year, as best they can and that things will be better next year.

Sandra:

Beautiful!  I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving.  My cell phone can take a photo.  But I have limited apps on it.  I don't have email.  I just use it as a phone.   I have a problem with people around me being on their phone all the time.  I see that it can be construed as rude!  But, people love them.  I am one of the few that don't.  In fact, I seldom even answer the blasted thing.  I use it to phone someone, if needed, as a rule, when I am not at home.

Also, at home, I don't keep a scanner.  So, I cannot post any photos.  I have chosen to do this on purpose.  But I do so love seeing everyone else's postings.  Thank you to you and everyone else who post photos.

Gobble, gobble, y'all!

Linda

Linda, thank you.

I agree with you about cell phones.  I have a flip phone that I pay $20 for minutes every 3 months.  But I only use it for emergencies so I have over 2,000 minutes that I'll never use. The phone is in my purse and never turned on, unless I have to use it, which isn't often.   But I consider it insurance.  I have a home phone or land line, as they are called now.

The picture was taken last year by my oldest Son's wife.

I've had a printer for years that I only used as a copier..  Until this past year, I've never used the scanner.    .  Thanks to the class website, I've learned how to scan and have enjoyed sharing and seeing everyone's photos.  And I print articles from the Pantagraph archives.  So my very old copier, printer, scanner, is finally getting used to his ability.

Gobble Gobble to you, too.

LINDA ... how about you sit at your beautifully set table and "paint" us a word picture in colorful descriptive terms and I'll bet we'll even be able to smell the good aromas too! 🤪🤪🤪

Sandra:  I too use my cell when I need it.   I also keep a land line.  It was brought to my attention that when you need 911, they get your address faster than they do with a cell.

At work, I use all kinds of technology that I refuse to keep at home.  I am a brat, just getting my own way.  Just like, my bedroom is for sleeping and I refuse to have a TV in it!

I made Chocolate Fudge and Italian Penuche brown sugar fudge with Maple in it, this morning.  Some how, I licked the pans!   I love to do that!

Every week, on Sunday, I cook as though my children were still here.  However, then I have leftovers for the rest of the week.   Good thing I like leftovers!   It works for me.  I'm sure it wouldn't be the thing that many other people would want.

That is basically what I will do for Thanksgiving dinner too!

I pray that your Dia de Gracias is wonderful for you and your family!

Love ya, Linda

Thank you for the idea.   How about I just package up some the leftovers and ship them to you!

Gobble Gobble!

I'll 'prime the posting pump' with this 1985 Thanksgiving memory, the year our family learned to not ask twin John and I to dress the turkey.

There was some discussion recently about Margaret 'Micki' Ponsford, and where she might be today. Yesterday's Pantagraph carried an obituary for a Larry Ponsford, formerly of Bloomington. Among his survivors was a sister, Margaret "Micki" Ponsford Hansen, of North Richland Hills, Texas. Her husband is given as Robert Hansen.

Larry Ponsford was living in Minneapolis, and his obituary gave no further information about Micki. But hopefully, this lead will help anyone who might want to reconnect with her. Best of luck.

If I'm not back on the site in the next few days, let me say this now: Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, and stay well!

Do you remember how good Micki was at drawing in 2nd and 3rd grade?  I wonder if she used her art ability later in life?

Love ya, Linda

Linda, I do remember Micki's talent for drawing, especially people. If she continued as an artist, no doubt she would have been very good at it.

Just wondering.........Has anyone else decided that their turkey needed to be freed to the wild, and decided to cook something else for Thanksgiving?

Jack:

Just got in touch with Mickey's husband, Robert Hansen in N. Richland Hills, TX.  He is having Mickey call me back.  She has perpetuated art in her life.  Retired as a graphic artist.  No children.  Is currently taking chemo.

Thank you for the information.

I was just speaking with one of my indian friends in New Mexico.  Carol's mother dabbles in painting with things that grow in nature, that she is learning from an older neighbor.

Have you ever made paint/ink from nature for your artwork?

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.  Enjoy as many of your family traditions as is possible--since we are all affected some by Covid.

Would also like to wish the Class of '64 a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  One of ours sons invited us to his house for dinner, but we decided that we would stay at home this year. Will really miss a chance to spend the day with his family and especially our grandkids.  Hopefully this pandemic will calm down in the future and we can get back to closer to "normal"... whatever that was.
