Larry--You spoke of your 'face  cord' of split firewood.  That sounds like a full ord to me (and maybe a bit more).   A cord of wood is 128 cubic feet, usually stacked 4' high, 4' deep and 8' long--any way you get the volume, it is still a cord.  You really do get warm twice from the wood--first when you cut & stack and later when you burn it.

Thank you for the birthday balloons.  I hope Patti, Jane and Ann get a kick out of their birth announcement that I found in looking at the 10/8/46 and 10/8/46 Pantagraph.   I hope you all have a great day.  And now we join the   74 yr olds.

Hello and Happy Birthday you trio of 74ers!

Question for Bloomington: How are the daily numbers of new cases of COVID up there?  Today we had over 500 more and our total to date is right at 27,000.

I pray Bloomington is better off!

Love to all,

Linda

Judy and  I took a late afternoon boat ride on the lake. Here are a few pics of the fall foliage we were seeing on our outing smiley.

Marv...  beautiful pix!  I'd be enlarging & framing some of those.

Wow, Marvin, those pictures are beautiful!   Such difference from 10/2 to 10/8 for the trees just out from your fire pit.  And with the water as clear as a mirror, I agree with Max, some of those pictures would make  beautiful framed pictures.

Good morning all.

Found myself lying in bed listening to the sound of a sole cricket (I think they are commonly night time chirpers).  Sort of soothing for some reason.  Then felt the need to get up - hoped it was about 630 but clock said 511.  Bah.

Walked down the hall and viola! ... the damned smoke detector.   Usually it's around 2:00 AM when that happens, so things are looking up.   I believe Jack Keefe normally gives us a heads up about this along with instructions to adjust our clocks .... but it's a few days early and I am stealing his thunder.

Now that I'm up it's nice having the morning to myself.  I think the coffee is ready and the Sun should be coming up before long.

Steve...

Since retiring 13 years ago, I did not realize those numbers that you mentioned, 5A and 6A, were still on the clock.  I guess it's good to know that they haven't been removed, just muted on mine.  If for some unknown reason I have to set my alarm, I have to remember how to do it so it will go off at the correct time.  Just hoping it doesn't happen very often.  Since Jack retired, I don't think he sends us that reminder any longer.  Maybe you want to take over his job?  You could travel around and change all of our smoke detector batteries... just a thought.

MAX ... I'm with you on that one ... didn't realize those early numbers were on clocks ... my "body clock" has always been late to bed ... late to rise ...  still to bed about 2am awake about 8-8:30 ... can't seem to get it to change ....  I hear some say how beautiful the sun rise was ... What is that???  Is it similar to a sun set?

MARV ... this pics of the trees around your lake are magnificent !!!  I have not seen that beautiful color yet up here in Michigan!

The only time I get up at 6:00am is on the days I work which is still three days a week but I get off at 12:30pm so it isn’t too bad. I have always been more of a person who liked to stay up late and sleep late.

Marv, glad to hear you are recovering from your surgery well. Your trees are beautiful at the lake. Our trees are just starting to turn.

Hope everyone is continuing to stay healthy and safe. I want to get back to a normal life.

Happy Friday!  Has been kind of quiet on the website lately.  I'm going to add something today...

PUNS:  You either like them or you don't.  You'll smile or groan depending on that.  Here's one that I just got yesterday.  I have a couple friends that trade them back and forth and other friends that refuse to read them.  Feel free to jump in and add some of your favorites if you are so inclined.

Q:   Why does the Norwegian Navy have barcodes on the sides of their ships?

A:   So when they come back into port they can Scandinavian!

Now you are either with thumbs up or groaning.  Who's next?

...~Max~...
