Beautiful places yesterday. Wendy's tubing on the river photo brought back great memories of tubing the Guadeloupe River when I lived in Texas. Great times! David B sure made Easter come alive with his egg photos.

Today's ADVENTURE theme is going to tell us a lot about every ones courage level. Lets see how adventurous you are.

Sailing near St Vincent on a friends boat in 2009.

Scuba diving in the Andaman Sea of the coast of Tahiland in 2008.

Climbing Dunn's River Falls near Ocho Rios Jamaica in about 1990.

Cliff hanging on Mt. Washington NH in 2004. Did I mention this was horizontal cliff hanging (laying)?

I don't have an adventure to equal Marv but my son has Seahawks tickets and when I get invited it is an adventure.

I picked Adventure and was going to post a video, but can't get it to upload.  So will just post a picture.  So much for my adventure.  We were in Kauai and went zip lining.  There were 8 lines on this course.  The video was of a line appropriately called the "quarter mile smile".  A great feeling flying above the treetops.

Not sure that there is much difference between ADVENTURE and INSANITY. I'm sure we've all had our share of both.

In the early 1980s, I spent five years restoring my victorian home from the top of a 35-foot ladder. There was a dome above the turret that needed painting, so I tied myself its crown with a rope around my waist and covered it with 2 gallons of gold paint. That is one form of insanity.

Another is putting your life in the hands of someone you trust and then getting lucky. In 2016, I took my son to Russian where an international lawyer friend I had known since he we was a teenager owned a hand crafted helicopter. He insisted on taking us for a flight. The views were breathtaking and it was an awesome experience until the end, when we found out he miscalculated the fuel because of the weight. Max and my son Phil are both in the 275 lb. range. On our return to Moscow, Max informed us that we were about 3 minutes from the heliport with 6 minutes of fuel left. When I asked about the reserve tank, he told me, "We're on the reserve tank." YIKES!!! That was a real adventure.

Phil doing a selfie with Max and the helicopter.

The control panel as seen from the back seat. Max and Phil were in the front.

Helicoptor view of an Orthodox Monastery.

Kalyazin on the Volga River near Shestakovo. You'll probably see this steeple again in another challenge.

OK - here goes - I'm definitely not as adventurous as many of you.

At the top of Diamond Head - this was a climb after my 2nd total knee replacement.  Much easier going back down.

A bike ride down from the top of the Haleakala volcano - the road has been closed to bikes occasionally due to deaths when riders went off road into the lava field.  I'm just ahead of the trail rider from the bike company.  We only rode as fast as the slowest rider and in this case they put the fastest rider last since we often got spread out and had to speed up to catch up.  Each bike is equipped with special disc brakes.

Doesn't look like much of an Adventure, right? This is John and Henni - John was my best friend at British Medical Systems when we were stationed in London.  They came to Chloe's wedding and came to the "next day" reception and after everyone else had left they were still there.  Then I remembered inviting them to stay with us before their continued trip on Route 66.  Unfortunately I forgot about the invitation and also forgot to mention it to Dorothy.  It worked out OK,    BUT.... we found out later that when they returned to the UK, John was arrested and convicted of being a pedophile and had misused is position as a director of a youth group, etc, etc.  He received a 5 year prison sentence and probably became someone's "best friend" in prison.

I used to be and avid golfer.  We used have a group of 20 to 28 guys that would go on a 4 day trip every spring to locations that provided challenges that playing in the midwest didn't offer.  This is one of those challenges - Wolf Creek Golf Club in Mesquite, NV.  It was definitely a different kind of Adventure.  Got the t-shirt I Survived the Wolf!

I hope that at some point Mike Smedley and Mike Franks jump in here with some photos.

Another exciting day in the BHS Class of 64 Photorama. Mel has suggested SOMETHING SPECIAL TO ME for Tuesday. So let's do it. If you have been one of those silent observers, don't be bashful. Let us see what is special to you.

Being a twin has been a life long something special to me.

Riding Trikes w/o helmets - what were you thinking?

Just found this one - kind of speaks for itself.....

He's still got it, even after 74 years....devil

Well, it looks like today's topic isn't catching on. My fault. Marv put his own twist on SOMETHING SPECIAL TO ME. For some reason, I think he is trying to butter me up for something, but I agree with him about Twinness, it is special.

While doing Stay-At-Home, I've been focused on the things that have occupied me for my entire life: art and books. Over the last month, I've come to appreciate those things in my home more than ever. In particular is the art collection that includes the work of my artist friends, my own creations, and the books that fill the shelves. The photos below are a modest selection of both. It is a treat to be able to share them with the Raiders of 1964.

Living room corner.

Sweeping view of the living room and den. Each work on the wall has its own story of a special person, place or time. The large paintings on the left are mine.

The dining room table with sculpture by Maggie Phillips who taught at the Art Institute.

The bookshelf in the den is surrounded by Russian, Swedish, German and Indian art.

A small selection of books I've been reading recently. Two are by my friends Georgie Anne Geyer and Beth Finke. They are an essential part of my day and make staying at home SOMETHING SPECIAL TO ME.

Difficult to know what to put.  Didn't want to put family, as that might come later under another topic.  So the places I have lived are special because there are so many memories from those times.  In particular, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Singapore and Seattle.  So here are four pictures.

This is the front porch of the home Ron and I bought in 1965.  I spend a lot of time on the porch.

This is my piano.  Now that I'm retired I play almost every day for at least an hour and sometimes more.

Hi, it's me again. PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE POST.

Wendy, after you see the following, are you willing to choose tomorrow’s topic?

I’m loving Dave's photo challenge and wish all our classmates were taking part. If this is distracting any of you from the doldrums of confinement, then it is worth it.

Although Dave is the genius who started this, he wants everyone to share the choice of daily selections. So, if no one has any objections, let’s try this for a week and see what happens.

Today was my day. Let's call it Twin Tuesday. I went first today since I'm 12 minutes older than Marv.

Wednesday will be Wendy Wednesday.

Thursday will be Twin Thursday, Marv's turn to be clever.

Friday will be Free For All Friday, which means anything goes.

Saturday will be Sandy Saturday. You know who I'm talking about, right?

Sunday will be reserved for our leader, Dave Day.

Monday will be Max Monday.

This will allow David Long to catch his breath.

If anyone else wants to take a day, please jump in. The more the better. You hear that Boo, Jack, Dave B., Mike Franks, Joan, Steve, Judy, Sue, Gail, et al?

Finally, I have to ask: Linda, where are you? We miss you.

Okay.  How about a photo you are very proud of.  Could be scenery, action, or whatever, but you are very pleased with it.

Dave - Who is Dusty Long and in what state is he in? Does this suggest that what is a special thing to you is to be the most sexy person in Bloomington surprise? I like that Sandy's special thing is enjoying her front porch and playing the piano. I had no idea you played. I am jealous - my only musical talent is being a good audience and enjoying what musicians produce.  Memories of special places are really special things in our lives and Wendy certainly shared some really great places for making memories.

Photo You Are Very Proud Of sure is a broad theme. That will take some research. Since I am responsible for "Twin Thursday", I am going to choose Special Character Photo as the theme. It is fun to see how different themes are being interpreted and what each of us is deciding fits.

I always liked this shot. In 1971 Ohio State University tore down the original building on campus to replace it with a replica. The center tower is all that's left in this photo, and I can just imagine the guy in the foreground saying, "Hey, I was supposed to have a class here next hour."

II hav three I really like.  This first one was taken along Kalakawa Blvd in Honolulu.

This second one was taken on a walk in Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia

This last one is an "action" shot of my grandson, in the black, playing rugby

OOOOOOOPPPPPS, Dusty was a nickname I had on the college track team and in Vietnam.  Sometimes it just slips in w/o conscious thought.  Obviously I was just joking around as an overweight, one legged Marine with PTSD issues is pretty much anything but Sexy.

Going back to something special:

This is a picture I took of my youngest daughter, Chloe and her husband Wyatt with our stillborn grandson Hugo.  This picture depicts the deepest love of parents.  Chloe and Wyatt knew from month 5 that Hugo would not survive outside the womb, (Agent Orange genetic issue?) but refused the doctor's suggestion to have an abortion.  It was a sad day for all of us, but I think the picture captures both the sadness and love.

Wendy - Your grandson must be a pretty big guy based on how he towers over the other players. Is he in high school? Looks like he might have quite a future in sports.

Dave - What an extremely touching photo of your daugher with her baby. Very sad!!!

Liz's grand-daughter Gracie is adorable. Very happy for Liz.

Terri - Let me know if I can of any help with getting your post made. I noticed Suzy had a problem post the other day as well. I can help if you like.

There are sooo many special photos!!! I have narrowed it down to 14 and struggling with which to choose.

I took this picture of an elderly woman at a local market in Vietnam in 1967 and have always considered it the best picture I ever took. It was captured as a 35 mm slide in 1967, projected on a whiteposter board and digitally reshot 49 years later in 2016.

Mary Selk and Judy playing Christmas duets on Pat Rosenbaum's piano in 2009.

Restaurant at Railay Beach Thailand in 2008.

Young girl at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep a temple in Chiang Mai Thailand in 2008.

General Westmoreland after 1967 Bob Hope USO Christmas Show.

Family living on sampan in Saigon Vietnam in 1967.

Mackinac Island-the porch of The Grand Hotel

This was also take on the Mackinac Island.  A big hole in the rock that you can see thru.

Marvin, the picture of the 2 people playing the same piano reminded of the Tandy family.   Jim, Ed and Linda all took lessons from my teacher, Doc Brashaw.  He had all 3 playing at the same time which was really neat to watch.

I like this photo because I reminds me of the times I have sat next to this small stream and listened to it babble while relaxing all afternoon.  A great place to pass the time.
