Milan:

Every photo I've seen with a pony.......didn't have a studio name on it.  I wonder if anyone, who has their photo, might look at it on the back side and see if there is a name of the photo studio?

Thanks for trying!

Linda

Second thought!  Would this be something to call in to Problems and Solutions on WJBC?   Or does it still exist?  I'll bet somebody would know something about it.

There was no studio. He developed the pictures there and put them in a folder as I remember. He was like a traveling saleman.

Linda, yes it was.  Had a great time but Bloomington lost.  We went to Lucca Grill after the game which was nice because it gave us another chance to catch up on things we didn't get time to at reunion.

I agree. Both Jim and I thought it was a great evening even though BHS lost big time. We were glad we drove from St. Louis to get together with the folks that came. Can't wait until the next get together.

I have been very remiss in thanking everyone who played a role in our fantastic 50th Reunion celebration.  You put on a beautiful party that allowed time and space to reconnect with friends, old and new.  I wish I had been able to get to town in time for Friday night and the tour Saturday morning!  The evening at BCC and the brunch were great!! I had a wonderful time and wish I had worked out a way to attend past reunions.  It was such fun to catch up with classmates, but definitely not enough time to speak with all those I wanted to.  Thanks again to all of you who worked so hard to make it a memorable time!  You succeeded!

It has already started at Gander Mountain Sporting Goods. When I was ready to pay for my purchases of gun powder and bullets,... the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me."

Making a mental note to complain to the NRA about the gun control wackos running amok, but not wanting to cause a scene, I did just as she had instructed.

When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to how I should place my credit card in the card-reader.

I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to seniors a little clearer .

I still don't think I looked that bad......... especially in my thong !!

Suzi (and anyone else):

October 1 tomorrow,.... already!  Halloween will quickly follow.    I hear many people state that they don't let their children participate in pagan holidays.

Please correct me if I'm wrong........but I don't remember  thinking of Halloween, nor any other holiday, in that manner.   I just had fun wearing a costume and collecting treats from homes, while in groups, with siblings or friends.

I'm trying to figure out what other holidays, we have, that may also be considered pagan.  Guess I'll have to look it up.  Good grief Charlie Brown!   Have a wonderful October.

Love to all,

Linda Elias

Linda, I haven't heard that yet.  My kids and grandkids all went trick or treating.  Pretty soon they will be telling us there isn't a Santa Claus!!  I love seeing the kids dressed up in their costumes.  The real little ones are so funny.

Glad you came to the reunion!!

Hugs

Suzi:

Well.........you might not want to look that up!   They even bad-mouth Santa.   I'll be double-darned if I'll let anyone ruin my childhood memories!

You can bet that my grandkids get to dress up and have fun!  They'll never be as bad as their egg or tomato throwing grandmother!   But my friends and I all had lots of fun!  (Dear friends, you know who you are!)  Please note that I'm not naming names!)

Blessings to everyone!

Linda

Halloween proceeds All Saints Day - definitely not a Pagan Holiday - that honors all those that have died and have become one with the saints...

All Saints' Day, also known as All HallowsSolemnity of All Saints,[3] or Feast of All Saints)[4] is a solemnity celebrated on 1 November by the Catholic Church and several Protestant denominations, and on the first Sunday after Pentecost in Eastern Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy, in honour of all the saints, known and unknown. The liturgical celebration begins at Vespers on the evening of 31 October and ends at the close of 1 November. It is thus the day before All Souls' Day.

Have a HAPPY HOLLOWEEN everyone!

Thank you David:

I searched thusly:  list all pagan holidays

Whole different concept!   I understand what you wrote because I'm Eastern Antiochian Orthodox.

Thanks again.

Great report Dave. What you described is also tied to the Mexican tradition of Dia de la Muerta (Day of the Dead) which takes place on Nov. 1st and 2nd. This is a day of atonement and remembrance of ancestors and loved ones lost which is usually accompanied by the creation of a memorial shrine. The shrine is much like an Ikon in that it is a living and active place to communicate with and keep the spirit of the deceased alive and well nourished with loving thoughts. For some this may seem grotesque, but for those who believe, it is a deeply moving experience. My appreciation for that tradition is limited to the cultural dimension, but over the past several years I've seen hundreds of such altars at the Mexican Museum of Fine Art and always marvel at the elaborate masks (think skulls) and figurative sculpure (think skeletons) that occupy these spaces.

Speaking of Day of the Dead, anyone besides me glad the Sox and Cubs are finally out of their misery? For anyone who remembers my diatribe about how the Cubs would never finish this year ahead of the Sox, they ended up with identical records. Oh the shame of it. I'm rooting for San Francisco in memory of Jerry Plumber. He would have been thrilled to see his Giants KO the Pirates last night.

Well it's time for me to do some bear bashing again!  They need to get rid of Trestman and Cutler.  Maybe bring in Tom Brady and Jim Harbaugh as coach.  Harbaugh is old school, he shows emotion just like Ditka which is what the bears need.  They also need to get rid of some suits up stairs, most them don't know their butt from a football.  I love it that Greg Oleson did so great against the Bears.  Some idiot decides to trade the better players and some other idiot agrees.  Anyway this is just my opinon.
