Jane Emery (Marshall)

I don't know if I qualify as a "MIA" but it's been many years since I've been in touch. It's good to see some familiar faces and I'm sorry for the cold you have had to endure this year.

I live in Mexico on Lake Chapala and love the year round gardening and warm weather here. We are about 50 years behind the US and that must be why I'm thinking about high school days now.

Jane:

I'm so sorry we didn't have access to your address before now, but very grateful you're here now!   I remember when you first came to Bloomington!   I also remember what 'trick' you taught us from Oregon, when we were riding in the car with Boo Boo, Ernie, etc.   What fun!

Please come back for our 50th reunion.  Can't wait to see you!

Love ya,

Linda

Hi Jane!  Remember me - you made my beautiful prom dress for me.  It was light blue brocade.

My geography is quite rusty. I Googled Lake Chapala, and it looks like a beautiful place. Since it's close to the equator, that means great weather, year around. We are locked into the "North Pole Syndrome", here in B/N.

There was some violent activity with the cartels in that area, but as I understand, it was between them.

I'm happy for you.

Gee Mike, I'm feeling better now that I know that others have been missing in action also.  At least Jane  must have been kidnapped and taken to a foreign country.

I do remember homeroom with Miss Flinspach sitting at those God awful sewing tables.

Looked at some of the reunion pictures.  Seems as though everyone has changed a lot except me.....  Sadly funny what time does to people.

Thanks for all the responses. I never expected anyone would remember.

Linda, can you still do that twirlling thing with your knee? I blew a knee a couple of years ago and still think about you whenever it aches.

Cheryl, prom dresses were really fun to do and someday I might take up sewing again. I loved doing yours.

Mike and Steve, it was almost like kidnapping. My husband Ty and I came here for a weeks vacation and bought a house here on the 4th day. Our kids were in a state of disbelief when we left Oregon a month later. It's been 8 years of permanent residence and no regrets at all. Cartels are still active all around us but this little town is probably as safe as anywhere. There is nothing to do at night so no problem going out after dark.

I will think seriously about the reunion this year. It would be great to see old friends.

Jane

Jane, you may not remenber me, however I remember you! Your message made me take a second look because our oldest son's name is Ty! I do hope you decide to attend our 50th Class Reunion! This might be our last opportunity to see one another since we are on the down hill side of life! I don't know about you, but I'm planning to live to be very old! smiley

Hello Jane...

Long time no see.  I think the last time I saw you was in Portland... must have been around 1972 or 73 when I was out skiing at Mt. Hood.  Glad to have you back among us.  -14* here in Wisconsin this morning, so I'm guessing your weather is a tad better!  Do hope to see you at the 50th class reunion in August.

Max

If you get to the border, where I am, then I can get you back to Bloomington, with me for the reunion.  Just let me know.  I'm going anyway!

Yes....I am still double-jointed.  I can still do the helicopter with my arms too!

Love ya,

Linda

Hi everyone!   Have a lovely Valentine's Day on Friday!

Also, on Yahoo news today, it reminded me of going to elementary school in Bloomington.   It is about Trivia on the life of Lincoln.   Some of you who were in class with me at Washington Elementary probably remember when Carl Sandburg came to speak about Lincoln.   One of the poems was about his mother: " If Nancy Hanks came back as a ghost, seeking news of who she loved most, she'd ask where's Abe?  Did he get on?   Did he get to town? "    Our librarian Evelyn Bodkin, maybe?   Oh what was her name?   She ended up at BHS.

Not sure about each word being correct.   I'll have to look it up.

Again, here's wishing you all a happy Valentine's Day.

Linda, I enjoy reading your posts.

I hope that you have a very happy St. Valentine's Day!  I hope that it is filled with love and affection, from all who are close to you.

Don't know if there are men in your life, but it does give guys a chance to express love. Guys can be a little clumsy when it comes to these things, but we have hearts that are in the right place. We're just dumb by nature. Our brains are below our waist.

Mike:

Thanks for your input.  You must not know to whom I was married.  I will never let another man in my life!   I'm finished.  It's someone else's turn to be thrilled!   I think everyone should HAVE to be married at least once.  It takes the pressure off of the rest of us!

I take great pleasure in seeing my children, grandchildren, and friends enjoy themselves!  Also, I just enjoy waking up everyday......above the grass!!!   My enjoyment of life has become very simple.  Being an extreme extrovert, I also enjoy inputting my two cents within my own community.   So now you all know......I'm a bossy, out-spoken old hag!

Blessings to you and everyone!

Linda

Yeah, I know. Been there, done that. I don't want to be mothered or smothered. I have four women in my life. My daughter, and three grand daughters. Thats a lot to handle. I live in my cave, but I do peek at the scenery once in a while........then back to the cave.

You must have a great memory.   Washington School was a LONG time ago!!  Do you remember a fair or show of some kind where the Pantagraph put in picutres of students with their pets?  I still have my pic of me and my white mice.

Glad to see more classmates are adding info here.

Gail

Gail:

Hi!!!!!!!   Looking forward to seeing you too!!!!!

The pet show......yes, that's when I took a black and white pony, Jimmy, to school.   He made the paper too!

I think it was the following year I took a lamb named Jocko!

Guess you can take the girl off of the farm, but not the farm out of the girl!

From ages 13/14 to 16, my kids had horses to ride.   I made sure they were kept busy and out of trouble.  Once again the farm thing came in handy!  (only this time I didn't have to scoop pooh!)

Do you remember my horse Sugar?  She always had a Rootbeer after the Barrel Races!

Gail, I hope all is well with you and your's!

Love ya, Linda

Gail:

Even I remember Washington School.  I will have to admit that I don't remember the pet shows.  Maybe it's because I don't remember having a pet to take.

I vaguely remember your white mice but, what I do remember is that boxer dog you had and that olympic size swimming pool you had in your back yard.

Steve

Milan:

Thanks for the info on Ethel Groves.   All 8 of my brothers and sisters are older than me.  However, my youngest sister is 73.  She had Ethel Groves at the old BHS that became our BJHS.  All of that exercise must be great.   She almost outlived us!

Thanks again.

Linda

WOW!   Ethel was 94?

Back in the day, I would have bet $1,000,000 that she was at least 100. I guess she would have been 44, back in our day. Hell, my daughter is almost that old (44) now. Go figure.

Apologies to Mr. Drew, on the math.

If my memory serves me correctly, Ethel was at the high school when I was there.  She was morning hall monitor and you didn't dare try to get past her before the bell rang.
