I remember vividly being evacuated by the Waldo Canyon Fires last summer at this same time on my birthday, a memory one can never forget. 347 homes were lost and 2 fatalities occured due to the Colorado Springs fires. Thanks to the fabulous help from all the volunteers and local firefighters, our city was saved. Again this year, we are experincing 5 major fires in Colorado, one of which is on the extreme NE side of Colorado Springs, in Black Forest and surrounding areas. Currently there have been 419 homes and 2 lives lost with 30% containment. Yesterday late afternoon, a cooling trend with rain assisted with reducing the containment to 30%. Again, we must thank the firemen and volunteers for helping extinguish and save us from the fires. We on the West side have experienced the extreme smoke, however no losses are on the West side of town at this time. We are now taking our turn extending our invitation to help house both large and small animals and families with our assistance wherever needed. Prayers go out to everyone experiencing loss of families, animals, and properties. This is a gut wrenching experience which no one can understand until you have been evacuated in the middle of the night! Not knowing where to go is a lonely, helpless, and empty feeling! Prayers are extended to everyone involved in hopes that fires are contained 100% soon!

PS We have friends who have been evacuated and friends who have lost EVERYTHING! They continue to remain positive and thankful they've only lost their homes and not their lives!

Boulder and Littleton are probably experiencing smoke, however know that they are safe in those areas! Our son lives in Westminster and they've shared the strong oders of smoke in their area near Boulder!

I learned yesterday the Juanita Jumper has been seen several times and is living in Bloomington. I don't have her last name now so I am trying to track her down. We had her as deceased and in the In Memory section. I moved her to the missing classmate list. Please go to that list and let me know anything you ever knew about any of those people. Parents names. Where parents worked. Where they lived. Anything helps. Thanks.

Currently there are 15 Forest Fires going on in Colorado! 508 homes have been lost in the Black Forest area on the far North end of Colorado Springs, however that fire is now 100% contained! Royal Gorge lost 5 buildings and minor damage to the Royal Gorge Bridge. Walsenburg, CO., has been on Pre-evacuation all day! It's believed that an arsonist or accident started the Black Forest Fire, however that is still under investigation! Our community has been ever so supportive of all who have lost everything! Please keep all the victims in your prayers! Thanks for asking Linda!

Helen, from here it's hard to see where all the fires are taking place, but it looks like South Fork is getting the worst of it right now. I have friends about 60 miles from there at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival this week end. Glad you are keeping us informed, we all wish the best for you and I am proud that you are sacrificing so much to help others who have been affected. I like to think that is part of our Raider Spirit. We are thinking of you and hope you are all staying safe.

I enjoy seeing the old class photos from elementary school.   I'm sure that I am not the only one who no longer has them.   Perhaps we could make a copy and put them in a folder for the 50th reunion.  I know that I would love to have a copy of my time at Washington Elementary.   Does anyone have any class photos from Washington?
