Steve Jetton

Geeze, I haven't had a surprise birthday party in a long time.  Maybe never.  Too bad I got on the msg forum and looked.  I had to - all these people calling up and asking what they should bring.

I'm figuring there's a good chance the committee meeting tomorrow night will come up with a better plan.

By the way, based on Rod's heads up, I checked out Jack and Milan's pictures.  They are fantastic!

Rod, right on the money. My biggest concern is Moss turns into another TO with an overinflated sense of self.  It takes 11 not 1.

Oh well, Giants are the focus now as they head toward their next World Series.  Buster is back and Panda is leaner.  GO GIANTS!!

Rodney (Rod) Hayes

Jerry, Moss does come with baggage.  But, after observing TO here with the Cowboys for a few years, Moss won't compare to the bad karma that TO brings.  Now, as far as the Giants, I'm not sure, but if injuries don't mess things up, I think the Rangers will be back in the Series again.  Them and the Giants would be a  great Series,   as was the one two years ago.  On paper, no one compares to the Rangers, but, unfortunately, paper doesn't play.

One has to wonder, I guess, if Belichick was wrong in telling Moss to pack his stuff after four games.  They did win the next 11 games without him though.

And what about God's quarterback in Denver?  The next media designated superstar may be replaced by Peyton Manning?  What's the world coming to?

Our newly formed class committee held it’s first meeting Thursday evening.  Twelve classmates were present out of twenty that have expressed an interest in participating.  We agreed that our first priority was to focus on mini-reunion plans and to delay 50th reunion discussion for the next meeting.  After extensive discussion regarding choice of dates and location for future mini-reunions we agreed on dates for three mini-reunions in 2012 (See below).  A lot of effort was made to select locations that would provide a pleasant atmosphere for everyone to visit freely and be able to enjoy food and drink without being rushed.  Decisions were made on locations for the first two mini-reunions and we are getting information from several places to determine our choice for the third.  The locations are proposals that still need to be confirmed by the selected establishments.  Once confirmed we will mail out formal announcements to everyone whose address is on our Class Directory.

An interesting idea surfaced that the committee plans to discuss in more detail later.  We want to investigate the potential for a fall get together at BHS during football season, possibly at Homecoming.  The initial thinking is to determine what food service options might be possible in the cafeteria prior to a football game and to attend the game as a group afterwards.  If successful, it could become an annual event and might include other classes.  What do you think?

Another meeting has been scheduled for 3:00pm April 15, 2012.  The committee members are intent on providing a path that will keep our Class of ’64 together as much as possible and encouraging friendship for all who wish to preserve our class bond.  Please save these dates.

May 10, 2012          6:00pm  Times Past Inn

August 11, 2012     6:00pm  Gill Street Sportsbar and Restaurant

December 6, 2012  6:00pm  To be Determined

Marv:

Thanks for informing us of the dates of the mini-reunions.   Please let me know how many stamps are needed to mail out information to the entire class directory.   I will be glad to overnight them posthaste!

Will you be adding a spot on the mail-out requesting their current address, telephone number, and email addresses so we can keep the directory updated?

Haven't heard from Steve, but heard he was spotted at the bank this morning inquiring about the class treasury..  One of the crazier things he might have done is to take about 5 of his closest friends (didn't know he had that many) for dinner and drinks to "Top of the 95th" in Chicago.  An unnamed source sent me this pic.

All the while he had misled me me into believing that he was working on getting this statue placed somewhere on the BHS grounds.

Jack, I actually made a proposal to our  classmates about using some of our treasury to have that statue placed on the school grounds .... but it was voted down.   I didn't say anything to you, knowing that you are extremely sensitive and easily hurt.   Unlike me.  I'm thick skinned enough that it doesn't bother me a bit that you think I don't have 5 friends.  You $#@!%&!

Regarding my birthday, here's what being 66 is like.  I got up late, walked the dog and then had to take nap when I got home.  Had some left over corned beef for lunch, watched a little basketball and then had to take a nap.  When I woke up I had a beer, which made me fall asleep.  It's difficult to cope with that kind of excitement but it was quite a day.

Jack Habich

Well Steve, in case you wonder why there’s no crowd around you, let me explain.

You know how much that statue meant to me.  I already shaved the head and grew out the mustache.

If you want to hold office, you have to learn that you have to take care of people along the way.  If this was your statue, I would have first of all explained it correctly, then taken a head count, and if the votes still weren’t there, I would have filibustered so it couldn’t go to a vote.  I might still be at Judy Winquist’s house, standing there talking.

Instead, you chose to quit, go home and lay around the house alone on your birthday.

Steve... Happy Birthday!  That nap thing doesn't sound like a bad idea, but my problem is that those 20 minute power naps don't do much for me.  If I'm gonna take a nap then set aside a couple hours.  That's why I don't take naps... wastes too much of the day.  Once you get used to 66... it's just about like 65 was!
